Chapter 7269 Seeing the Four Cardinal Alliance Once More
Chapter 7269 Seeing the Four Cardinal Alliance Once More
“Stay here for now. I’m going to take a look at who they’re attacking!” ordered Long Chen.
He then set off on his own, stealthily trailing the massive outsider devil army.
Once he was alone, he could get quite a bit closer, and from this distance, he noticed that this army’s experts were all at the rear, while their weaker members were at the front.
“I see, so that’s what they’re doing...”
Long Chen immediately knew what they were planning—just like the outsider devils present during the siege on the North Sea Silver Fox race, they were probably about to sacrifice their weaker members.
Could it be that their numbers have inflated to the point where they have to use the nine heavens’ hand to get rid of some of them? How did they let it get this bad?
Then, Long Chen thought back to those weak half-step Heavenly Sovereigns he had seen at the heart of this outsider devil territory, and he immediately felt something was off. Those half-step Heavenly Sovereigns had incredibly weak Grand Dao power. Rather than saying they’d cultivated up to that level, it felt more as if some kind of mysterious power had made them reach that level.
These half-step Heavenly Sovereigns had the aura, but not the actual power of their realm. Furthermore, not only were they weak, their heads weren’t very sharp. They didn’t seem like high level lifeforms at all. But if they weren’t high level, who would bother pushing their cultivation forward? What was their goal?
By the time he shook his head and gave up due to a lack of information, the battle had already started. Long Chen snuck his way to the front.
He saw an ancient city up ahead. The city walls were in dire condition, and they sported countless bloodstains, most of which did not look recent. It was clear that this city had seen its fair share of battles. This made sense—it appeared to be a border city, the outermost limit of the nine heavens’ territory. Yet even though it was basically in the wilderness, there were actually plenty of human experts gathered here right now, fighting against the outsider devils.
Long Chen looked across the battlefield and saw that there were maybe sixty million humans fighting. Although they were much fewer than the outsider devils, the moment they started fighting, the outsider devils were crushed.
“These are the outsider devils that threaten the nine heavens? Ha, I can kill them all myself!” a young man shouted heroically, raising his sword.
He had managed to reach the peak of the Sovereign Lord realm, and true to his words, he really was slaughtering the outsider devils. No one was able to stop him.
A woman rushed over to him and whispered a warning. “Senior apprentice-brother Yue Zhen, we’re already at the front. You can’t go any further, or we’ll be cut off from the rest of the allied army!”
“Haha, what do you know? The more we kill and the more outstanding our display, the more authority our Heaven Transcension Sword Sect will have in the alliance. These outsider devils are so weak they can’t do anything to me. I’m going to kill even more of them! I think I’ll go find a few half-step Heavenly Sovereigns to play with!” retorted the arrogant young man.
“Senior apprentice-brother Yue Zhen! The sect master said that since this is our first time working with the Four Cardinal Alliance, we are supposed to listen to all their instructions!” the woman once more warned him.
“The Four Cardinal Alliance?”
Long Chen was a bit surprised. He didn’t expect to run into some acquaintances the moment he returned.
His divine sense stretched into the broken down city. He immediately discovered a massive formation. The formation was quite high level and blocked off his senses. If he were to forcibly try to break through it, the people inside would definitely sense it. It seemed that the Four Cardinal Alliance’s true power was hidden inside.
Long Chen nodded slightly. Their enemies had sent their weaklings to the front, but the Four Cardinal Alliance was also hiding their true power.
“You are so annoying! Who do you think you are to criticize me?! You’re just wasting my time so I don’t get kill points!” shouted the young man called Yue Zhen. He unleashed a powerful qi wave that pushed the young woman back.
She was immediately outraged and stopped trying to help him. She retreated to fight alongside a group of experts wearing similar robes to her.
As for Yue Zhen, he was so arrogant that he continued charging forward. His allies were left far in the distance.
What an idiot.
Long Chen couldn’t help cursing him inside as he watched.
It was obvious that the Four Cardinal Alliance was planning on conning the outsider devils when the time came. But if Yue Zhen threw himself into such a desperate situation, the experts of his sect definitely wouldn’t just sit back and watch.
As expected, Yue Zhen charged so far ahead that his own people couldn’t see him any longer. He had charged all the way into the middle of the enemy army. Finally, his arrogance caught the attention of the outsider devils; after all, the latter also had their own geniuses. One of them who had also reached the peak of the Sovereign Lord flew over. This lifeform had black scales covering its whole body.
“Human, you are courting death!” it roared and charged at Yue Zhen as quickly as lightning.
“You’re the one courting death!”
Yue Zhen sneered and spun around, unleashing a giant sword-image. That lifeform was instantly cut apart. The steel-like scales it was so proud of was nothing in front of Yue Zhen. In fact, the sword-image cut through it and then simply continued forward, leaving behind a long trail of bisected outsider devil bodies.
As for Long Chen, he simply cursed him inside. What an IDIOT.
Just how precious was the core energy of a sword cultivator? That one attack had just exhausted a third of Yue Zhen’s core energy, and having charged right into the heart of the enemy army, he had no allies to help him retreat, yet he still dared to fight like energy was free and unlimited.
“You outsider devils aren’t much. Killing you is like killing chickens!” sneered Yue Zhen.
In all fairness, he did seem to have some semblance of a functional brain. After this attack, he knew that he had to fall back. However, by now, it was obviously too late to retreat. A dozen powerful auras rushed towards him.
“Die!”
“Do you think you can stop me?!” Yue Zhen sneered and made a sword seal. Rays of light shot out.
“Ten Thousand Grandmaster Swords!”
Rays of Sword Qi tore through the sky. Those powerful auras were extinguished under their assault.
However, after this attack, Yue Zhen’s aura clearly fell, and his face also turned pale. Only now did he see the countless outsider devils around him and no sign of his allies. A hint of panic appeared in his eyes.
He finally realized his situation and rushed back, only to be intercepted by a beam of light several times faster than he was.
The newcomer was a female devil with golden wings and blonde hair. She was not just fast; her aura was absolutely terrifying. Even before she reached him, Yue Zhen felt a suffocating feeling.
“Die!”
Seeing that he couldn’t flee, Yue Zhen clenched his teeth and poured all his power into another slash.
“Human ant, you really think you’re that powerful?” sneered the female devil. She didn’t dodge; she simply raised a golden palm.
To Yue Zhen’s shock, his seemingly unstoppable sword stopped instantly upon contact. The sharp edge of the blade was unable to even scratch her.
BOOM!
She clenched her hand, and his blade shattered.
“You can die now!”
She snorted and stepped forward, seemingly planning on simply stomping him down like an ant.
Just then, the void rumbled. The aura of a Heavenly Sovereign erupted, and a sharp sword slashed towards her.
“Oh? Then let me see how powerful the Heavenly Sovereigns of the nine heavens are!”
Shockingly, the blonde woman did not choose to retreat in front of this power. Her golden wings slashed forward, unleashing a streak of golden light.
