Chapter 1148: As Expected of You, Darling.
After the appearance of the God Emperor and the words he spoke in the year 100,000 of the Imperial calendar, the Empire entered a frenzy of development. New discoveries in all areas were practically normal as everyone was experiencing a technological boom, which was ridiculous considering that everything was already exceptionally advanced.
It was like the first Imperial year again, where you went to sleep for one night and, the next day, something new appeared, driven by an inexplicable fervor of faith and pride in belonging to the Empire; they worked more, produced more, and even reproduced more and better and improved even further.
Consequently, Aphrodite and her goddesses became even happier for receiving more targets of faith, and making everyone reproduce like crazy. It was no longer strange for a family to have more than 100 children.
"That’s right, reproduce, more and more, don’t worry about resources, just worry about reproducing! The Empire will cover everything, HAHAHAHAHAHA!" Aphrodite laughed like a true villain.
"The more you reproduce, the more new believers I will have, and soon, I will surpass Violet!!!"
Looking at this scene were Jeanne, Victor, Violet, and Natalia.
"... I will send Scathach to control her." Violet’s lips twitched, and she spoke coldly.
"Send Anna too, and Hestia."
"... It’s a good idea." Violet thought for a little while and nodded in agreement with Jeanne’s words.
Putting Aphrodite’s craziness aside, the Empire was expanding with uncontrollable fervor. Consequently, some problems appeared, but nothing that the legions could not handle.
Victor rarely needed to interfere with anything and delegated all the work to his capable wives, but that did not mean he did not observe how the Empire grew. Before his eyes, he could see all his territory. If he focused on a citizen, he could see their past, present, and future possibilities. Combining this with the reports Akasha sent him, he was not operating in the dark.
"If it continues like this, we will achieve our objectives in just 50 millennia," Victor commented to his wives while looking through the passing years. He was accelerating time a little, and this was causing problems with energy expenditure.
"... Darling, are you okay?" Natalia asked worriedly.
"Yes, this is nothing. Actually, continuously spending my energy like this is helping me improve my control even further." Victor was not lying. This could be considered an advantage of constantly using his energy. The only time Victor had used his reserves like this in the past was when he was at war with all of Hell, or when he fought against the Elder God of Nightingale.
"With my divinity of space and time, and my improving control, I am reaching something close to infinite and perpetual energy."
"... Only you could improve in a situation like this." Violet opened her mouth incredulously. No matter how many times she said she was used to it, she was still surprised by the ridiculous ways Victor improved.
"This improvement would not be possible without you." Victor was sincere. He had completely underestimated the amount of energy used at the beginning. If it were not for his wives sharing the burden with him, he would not even have been able to think or move. He would have fallen into a coma and acted only as a walking battery until the ritual ended.
"And I was not the only one who improved." He looked at Jeanne.
"... As expected, you noticed." She smiled proudly.
Jeanne had once been the guardian of the universal tree, a primordial being. In terms of power, she was on a universal scale, losing only to Primordials Death and Infinity.
The current Jeanne had more potential than her previous version, and with constant energy expenditure, she came even closer to her previous peak. If before Jeanne could maintain only 10% to 15% of the ritual’s burden, now she could easily handle 30%, and if she forced the situation, she could maintain 40% of the entire burden. In terms of pure energy, she was only behind Victor and Azathoth now.
She had undergone a great improvement, and for a being with the magnitude of her power, this was absolutely ridiculous. After all, everyone knows that the closer one gets to the top, the harder it becomes to improve, and this was no exception even for Victor.
The only visible way for Victor to improve even further was to improve his control over absolutely everything, but that would only be a lateral improvement and not upward. For him to evolve even further into something close to a Primordial being, he needed to improve his divinity of Negativity, or evolve his Eldritch side even further. Two options, with no way to progress now. To evolve his Eldritch side, he needed his wife Azathoth, because if he tried to evolve alone, he would become the enemy of all Primordials except perhaps Jeanne’s brother, and to evolve his Negativity side, he needed the Positivity divinity that was currently in the hands of another being.
In the end, if he wanted to become stronger, he needed to go to the higher sectors.
"Of course I did. How could I not notice? I am right beside you."
"Humpf, I thought I had hidden it well."
"Nothing can be hidden from my eyes." He smiled.
"Yeah, yeah, our daughters say the same thing." She snorted.
"How much stronger did you become?" Violet asked curiously.
"In terms of energy and control? Three times stronger than my previous self." Jeanne spoke.
"I am only one step away from recovering my previous peak. I only need more authority over the rules of the universe. If I obtain something like that, I will completely surpass my previous peak."
"There are 6 of them. Some of them will serve you," Victor spoke disdainfully.
"... Hmm, or we can make new ones," Jeanne spoke after reflecting.
"That’s true, but we will think about that when we get there. There is no point in thinking about the future now." Victor spoke, and then looked at Violet, whose eyes were glowing.
"My dear, don’t look into the future." He spoke gently.
"... But Darling." Violet tried to protest, but Victor interrupted her by saying:
"Looking into the future is like looking at a distant mountain without understanding the abyss that connects it. It is a convenient power, that is true, but don’t let yourself be consumed by it. You are an Empress, you don’t need to look into the future for answers, you just need to do it yourself." Victor advised.
"...." Violet’s eyes stopped glowing and returned to their deep violet tone.
"You’re right." She sighed. "I have been relying too much on this power."
There is a reason why Victor, despite having the same power as Violet, does not use it. Looking into the future is a double-edged sword; it gives you an observation of what might happen, but for beings of their level, the future is not fixed. Therefore, looking into the future is only stressing yourself prematurely over something that may or may not happen. Instead of looking into the distant future, Victor prefers to use this ability to fight.
Every second in a battle at his level counts, so having an ability like this raises his level of precognition to an entirely different level, but even that is only one of his fighting tools. If the enemy is capable of creating a space where the rules of reality do not apply, this ability is useless, just as his speed was nullified in the fight against the Elder God of Nightingale.
The stronger Victor became, the more he realized that, in the end, the basics were what mattered most. It seemed that Scathach’s philosophy was not wrong after all, or at least this applied only to beings of the same level. Beings weaker than Victor only needed a snap of his fingers to be vaporized.
Violet approached Victor and gently hugged him. Victor laughed lightly and stroked her hair.
"Honestly, when will we be able to live in peace?" She sighed while snuggling like a cat receiving affection.
"Oh, my dear, we are at peace. If I wanted to, we could spend billions of years in peace on our planet, and no one could bother us, but-..."
"You will never lower your head," Violet answered for him.
"For us, and for our family, what kind of father and Emperor would I be if I were intimidated by worms?" He spoke with an arrogant face, clearly joking, but at the same time, not.
"Hehehe, right? We are not cowards." Violet laughed while hugging Victor even tighter.
Jeanne and Natalia rolled their eyes at their Empress’s spoiled attitude, but said nothing. It was not as if they were not used to it.
"How are the reactions of the other pantheons?" Victor asked.
"Well, as expected, some did not like it. But the leaders are very obedient."
"Hmm." Victor’s eyes narrowed slightly. "We will trust them to lure the enemy."
There was a reason why Victor did not completely eliminate those who were dissatisfied with the Empire. He would use them as bait to attract the enemies who eventually tried to infiltrate the Empire. Everyone who was dissatisfied with the Empire was already being tracked 24 hours a day. Everything they did, the Emperor knew.
Another reason was that an Empire with voices that did not support the Empire was also important, no matter how small they were. An opinion ’contrary’ to Victor’s was necessary so that this group could gather those who were dissatisfied, so that, in the end, they could be eliminated all at once, allowing new voices to join again.
He needed to maintain a balance between a tyrant and a benevolent ruler. Everything in life needed balance. This was something he had learned many years ago.
Fortunately, despite being fools for challenging the Empire, they were still smart enough not to commit any kind of crime.
Using his eyes, Victor saw beyond the realities and dimensional defenses of the Pantheons, and soon, his eyes saw his two wives, Kali and Ariel.
"How are the experiments of our daughter Melida going?"
Melida Charlotte Elderblood, the reincarnation of Merlin that Victor created. She had completely inherited her powers of controlling souls, and recently, even the ability to control Victor’s energies. She was growing strong and steady.
"Well, she is exceptional, just like all our daughters. All the results are positive. It is going so well that she is frustrated since she thought it would be more challenging." Natalia laughed.
"Her mind does not remember, but her soul does. She has already walked this path once in the past, therefore, it is understandable." Victor nodded.
"Metis and Akasha have also progressed very well. Soon, they will be good commanders." Jeanne spoke.
Metis Elderblood, her former reincarnation being the Greek Titan of wisdom, a woman whom Victor also reincarnated as his daughter.
"It all depends on them. And I don’t think Akasha wants to be a commander. She seems very happy just controlling the entire shadow Empire." Victor spoke.
"Well, the title of commander is only honorary. What she already does with your other creations is already worthy of being called the commander of a legion."
"That’s true." Victor smiled. He was very satisfied with her. After all, he created her to be the guardian of the family and the Empire. In this regard, she was doing a perfect job.
