Chapter 1493: The Painting Summons the Immortals

Although the Archaic Immortal Realm could be said to have been personally created by Li Fan, there was a significant difference between him and a true Creator God in the literal sense.

The reason the Archaic Immortal Realm could manifest in the first place was because it drew upon the power of the Infinite Ocean. And Li Fan was only able to accomplish this because of the divine blessing bestowed upon him by [Truth].

If there truly was a Creator God for this continent, then it could only be [Truth].

Li Fan was merely the one who had received divine favor and wielded the authority on its behalf.

Li Fan quickly adjusted his mindset and put everything into proper perspective. He began considering what he could accomplish with the Archaic Immortal Realm.

"I originally only wanted to casually construct a facade to put on appearances. I never expected that, with [Truth]'s assistance, I would actually create an immortal domain. It is more than enough to fool those True Immortals of the Shuo Star Sea, and even."

Li Fan's thoughts immediately focused on the Thirteen Heavenly Scars and the five Heaven and Earth consciousnesses.

As enormous consciousness entities born alongside the Archaic Immortal Realm, it might seem that they had been trained by Li Fan to behave like obedient dogs. However, that was only because Li Fan controlled the crucial leash that could sever their connection with the Infinite Ocean at any time.

Toward everyone else, they were not nearly so easygoing.

Brutality, volatility, and disdain were the most fundamental traits of these Archaic beings.

"In theory, the actual combat power of each one of them should be no weaker than an Nameless True Immortal. However, they rely entirely on instinct, so it is difficult to say how much of their strength they can truly bring out."

"Still, their numbers are right there. Dealing with those True Immortals of the Shuo Star Sea should be more than enough."

Li Fan once again gazed into the distance, waiting for the fish to take the bait.

Ever since fifteen years ago, when Devoid Immortal witnessed the strength Li Fan had inadvertently displayed and learned of his intention to rebuild the Immortal Court, the Shuo Star Sea had demonstrated the necessary respect toward a powerful existence.

They had stopped interfering with Li Fan's absorption of the complete Great Dao of the Shuo Star Sea. They had even deliberately relaxed the restrictions imposed by the Dao Net around the High Wall, making Li Fan's absorption of the Great Dao somewhat smoother.

Li Fan had never truly intended to drain the Great Dao of the Shuo Star Sea completely and cause Dao Annihilation Calamity to arrive ahead of schedule. He had merely wanted to replenish the withered laws within the Darkest Star Sea.

After the Archaic Immortal Realm was created, however, although the continent was newly born, it was backed by the Infinite Ocean. The various Great Dao laws that naturally evolved within it were even more abundant than those of the surrounding Darkest Star Sea.

Thus, Li Fan no longer needed to draw upon the Shuo Star Sea.

In the tenth year, he sealed the [Dao Track], completely stopping his absorption of the Great Dao of the Shuo Star Sea. Of course, Li Fan had no intention of generously allowing the Archaic Immortal Realm to benefit the Shuo Star Sea either.

With the High Wall separating them, the outside world could not detect the birth of this immortal domain continent.

However, Li Fan's deliberate restraint was itself a signal that the "Immortal Court would be rebuilt".

During the following five years, Devoid Immortal visited several times. Although he never mentioned the Immortal Court directly, he did submit a list issued by the Shuo Star Sea.

"An Nameless True Immortal leading the group, accompanied by six True Immortals."

"That is quite a lineup."

"They are all from True Immortal factions. Not a single one of the Immortal Hunters came. They should have been frightened after I instantly suppressed that Wei fellow."

Li Fan chuckled softly.

The list did not state the Dao comprehended by the Nameless True Immortal leading the group.

"Benevolent Transmuter, Reverse, Chaos..."

"I wonder if it will be one of these three."

Li Fan withdrew his gaze and looked at the Archaic Immortal Realm beneath him. He curled his finger slightly.

In an instant, the fleeting lights and shadows within this Archaic Heaven and Earth were drawn together and gathered into Li Fan's palm.

They formed a vivid, flowing painting.

The painting slowly transformed from illusion into reality.

"Thirteen."

Li Fan called out calmly.

Amid the radiance of flowing light, a silver figure appeared before Li Fan.

The outline of the figure was constantly changing, and it possessed no physical form. Yet it could vaguely be seen to resemble Li Fan in several respects. Clearly, this Heavenly Scar had deliberately imitated him.

"Make a trip. Deliver this painting to our neighbors."

"When the painting is unfolded, it will be the day the Immortal Court is officially rebuilt."

Thirteen lowered his head and accepted the order.

Then, like a bolt of lightning, he flashed and vanished from the Archaic Immortal Realm.

This was Thirteen's first time leaving the Archaic Immortal Realm. At first, he was somewhat excited. But when he personally saw the barren starry sky beyond the High Wall, his curiosity gradually turned into disappointment and disdain.

If the Archaic Immortal Realm, permeated by infinite immortal power, was a magnificent palace, then the Shuo Star Sea before him could not even compare to a crude thatched hut. At most, it could be considered a hastily constructed nest, fit only for beasts.

Thirteen did not want to stay for even a moment longer. He only wanted to complete his mission and return as soon as possible. Thus, he charged forward recklessly, flying toward the location Li Fan had indicated.

There was no obstruction at all, until he suddenly felt as though he had fallen into a gigantic net.

It was as if billions of threads had simultaneously wrapped around every inch of his body. Thirteen immediately felt tremendous resistance coming from all around him.

"Who goes there?"

Perhaps they had already sensed that Thirteen had come from the direction of Li Fan's location. Rather than immediately attacking this unexpected intruder, the Shuo Star Sea cautiously questioned him first.

"By the command of the Great Master, I have come to deliver the painting of the Archaic Immortal Realm."

"When this painting is unfolded, it will be the day the Immortal Court is rebuilt."

"Those on the list may come and witness the occasion."

Arrogant as ever, Thirteen raised the painting bestowed upon him by Li Fan above his head. Feeling the resistance around him, he deliberately raised his voice.

It was like a monstrous wave, or perhaps a fierce gale, suddenly erupting within the Dao Net.

Countless Dao strings trembled violently in an instant. The seemingly indestructible Dao Net swayed like duckweed floating in the wind.

Hearing the startled cries coming from various parts of the star sea, Thirteen felt extremely pleased with himself.

However, in the next moment, the wind and rain abruptly ceased. Just as suddenly as the disturbance had appeared, it was instantly calmed.

It was as though some existence had suppressed the disturbance within the Dao Net in an instant.

"Hm?"

At that moment, Thirteen sensed several auras resembling those of his strongest elder brothers and instinctively restrained himself somewhat.

Moreover, beyond the Dao Net, there seemed to be another gaze falling upon him.

It felt exactly the same as when the Great Master looked at him.

"No wonder the Great Master invited these people to witness the ceremony."

Thirteen suddenly understood and no longer behaved recklessly.

He merely cupped his hands and said his farewell before once again transforming into silver lightning and departing.

Within the vast Shuo Star Sea, not a single person could step forward to stop him. They simply allowed him to roar in and roar back out.

Amid the ensuing silence.

Everyone focused their gazes on the painting left behind by Thirteen.

Although the painting had yet to be unfolded, everyone could still sense its extraordinary aura.

Especially the various True Immortals of the Shuo Star Sea.

For a moment, they seemed to faintly see that Immortal Realm which had already been destroyed.

The Dao Net began to glow and gradually recovered from the disturbance. It concealed the gazes of the outsiders that had fallen upon the resplendent painting.

Within the circular field of vision that had been concealed, one figure after another appeared beside the painting.

They watched silently, completely absorbed in what they saw, without saying a word.

A pair of enormous transparent blue hands descended from the heavens and landed upon the painting.

They exerted slight force, attempting to forcibly unfold it.

The blue radiance of the transparent hands surged violently, yet the painting remained completely motionless.

"This painting... bears the weight of Mountains and Seas."

"It seems that what that Hidden Emperor said about rebuilding the Immortal Court was not merely empty talk."

A fluctuation emerged from the blue hands. No emotion could be discerned from it.

Another figure stepped forward and tried as well. The result was the same.

"This feeling is almost exactly the same as when the Immortal Emperor once opened the nascent Immortal Domain within Mountain Shangfang."

"Indeed. This is the method of the Ruling Immortal Emperor."

"Could it truly be that a certain Immortal Emperor from the past has descended?" The figure withdrew, his tone filled with uncertainty.

No one could answer his doubts.

"If that is the case, then we should investigate it personally and find out exactly what is going on."

"This Hidden Immortal's strength is unfathomable, and his attitude remains unclear. I will lead the group."

"Even if he harbors some ulterior motive, at the very least, I should be able to bring everyone back safely. After suffering through so many calamities, we truly cannot afford any further losses." Another voice came from the void.

The True Immortals standing beside the painting did not object to his words.

Even after learning what Li Fan was capable of, the True Immortals still tacitly acknowledged that the owner of this voice possessed the ability to come and go freely. The extent of their confidence in his strength was evident.

"Although few among the Hidden Immortals are good people, under the current circumstances, it would be best not to make an enemy of him. If he truly still possesses the methods used by the Ruling Immortal Emperor to open an Immortal Domain, then perhaps we can even cooperate with him." After a moment of silence, the only figure among the True Immortals who revealed his true appearance spoke.

This person was dressed in white, with a completely black kitten lying on his shoulder.

The contrast in color was striking.

The kitten seemed to be asleep, yet its ears occasionally twitched, as if listening to something.

This white-robed True Immortal seemed to possess considerable authority among the immortals. Once he spoke, the others merely nodded in agreement.

"Let us wait."

"It should not take many days."

Having reached a consensus, the immortals simply waited beside the painting.

To them, even decades or centuries passed in the blink of an eye. Waiting a few days was no more than taking a nap in place.

Li Fan did not keep them waiting for long.

On the ninth day after the painting arrived at Shuo Star Sea, an intense fluctuation suddenly surged from within it.

Gusts of violent wind began blowing for no apparent reason.

It seemed as though they were slowly blowing the painting open.

Amid the fierce winds, the True Immortals seemed to have difficulty remaining steady and all retreated backward.

Only the point in the void, the figure with the black cat on his shoulder, and the pair of blue hands remained unmoving.

However, they all stared intently at the painting as it unfolded before them, their expressions and auras becoming more solemn than ever.

"The aura of the Infinite Ocean."

"And it is fresh."

"After so many years, we finally see it again."

...

Their tones were difficult to describe, carrying both caution and a hint of reminiscence.

The more of the Archaic Immortal World revealed itself within the painting, the stronger the gale emitted by the other side became.

This was not wind in the ordinary sense.

Rather, it was the pressure Li Fan exerted from above upon the mortal world through the power of the Infinite Ocean within [Illusion Is Also Truth].

Only existences like Lord Hill Guardian, who could stand unmoving atop mountain peaks and beside the sea, were capable of withstanding it.

Li Fan himself had tested it before. Outside the state of Illusion Is Also Truth, even if he invoked the power of several Hill Guardian phantoms, he could not withstand it. He lasted only a few breaths before being defeated.

Among the three figures, none seemed to possess strength approaching that of Hill Guardian Lord.

When nine tenths of the painting had unfolded and the pressure reached its peak, all three were forced to retreat to varying degrees.

Judging from the distance each retreated, the difference in their strength was also revealed.

The weakest was the point in the void.

Although it could neutralize all external influences, when faced with the pressure originating beyond the mortal world, this immunity seemed to lose its effect. It could only retreat inch by inch.

The blue transparent hands performed somewhat better. The palms became increasingly transparent, seemingly merging completely with their surroundings.

However, they did not seem to be relying on the surrounding environment to resist the majesty of the Infinite Ocean. Rather, they appeared to be helping the Shuo Star Sea Dao Net survive this overwhelming pressure.

A portion of their power had to be diverted for this purpose, and they were consequently forced to retreat.

The strongest among the three was the white-robed figure.

Amid the gale brought forth by the Infinite Ocean, the black cat on his shoulder had already awakened.

Its two dark green eyes, like precious gems, stared intently at the painting before them. It stretched out its tongue and licked it, its tail swaying gently back and forth.

Man and cat seemed to have become one, and they were barely forced to move at all by the violent winds.

When the painting fully unfolded, a miniature scene of the Archaic Immortal World suddenly appeared before everyone.

The boundless vitality and flourishing life within it left those who had grown accustomed to the dead and silent star sea somewhat dazed.

"If this Hidden Immortal can reproduce this divine ability."

"Combined with our methods, perhaps there is hope of returning from death."

The speaker was not one of the three True Immortals.

It was the black cat perched on the white-robed figure's shoulder.

However, these words did not seem to have come from the black cat itself, because at the very moment it spoke, the green light in its eyes suddenly dimmed.

Only after it finished speaking did the green light brighten once more. The black cat then seemed somewhat bewildered, apparently unaware of what had just happened.

It was as though some existence had borrowed its body.

"Since the painting has already unfolded, I will go first and investigate his true strength."

The others slowly nodded, their gazes still fixed upon the painting.

...

Within the Archaic Immortal World.

While the True Immortals of Shuo Star Sea were observing the painting, Li Fan was also observing them through it.

He was merely concealed within the Infinite Ocean through the divine ability Illusion Is Also Truth, which was why he had not been discovered.

The others were nothing particularly noteworthy. The strength of the several True Immortals who had appeared in Shuo Star Sea did not exceed Li Fan's expectations.

Until the figure in white with the black cat appeared.

The moment he saw the black cat, Li Fan's heart skipped a beat.

The scene of Cat Treasure leaping forward and devouring the Hunger Immortal once again surfaced in his mind.

However, after his instinctive vigilance lasted only an instant, Li Fan discovered that this black cat was not the Cat Treasure he had encountered before.

Li Fan had once carved various wooden statues of Cat Treasure, so he was intimately familiar with Cat Treasure's appearance.

Thus, after a brief moment of stunned silence, he still noticed the obvious differences between the two.

He breathed a slight sigh of relief.

"If the one lying on his shoulder really were Cat Treasure, I might have to change my plans. Fortunately, it is not."

With the Hunger Immortal as an anchor, Li Fan now had a general assessment of the power Cat Treasure had displayed back then.

It was not inferior to the stronger among the Nameless True Immortals.

However, it was still inferior to a phantom of Hill Guardian Lord.

The current Li Fan could be said to possess enough strength that even if he truly encountered Cat Treasure, he would have no reason to fear it.

The crucial issue was the unknown force behind Cat Treasure.
