Chapter 795 - 781: Mushroom Technology
Chapter 795: Chapter 781: Mushroom Technology
On the hillside, Bado looked down below.
The intermittent explosions came from the trenches; they were harassment tactics from the Fungus Castle during battle intervals, extremely annoying.
He passed through the trenches.
The dwarves had the best craftsmen; even these temporary fortifications were sturdy and fully functional.
However, the current issue was not the strength of the fortifications, but rather the morale of the troops.
As he walked, the warriors’ eyes no longer held the excitement and bravery from when they first arrived. Sunken eyes showed more apathy and fear of the unknown future.
This was inevitable. Anyone who clearly realized their opponents could return as undead monsters within three days would fall into such self-doubt.
More so, recently, some injured dwarves had started growing mycelium on their bodies...
Bado walked into a rear fortress. The stone walls here were three times thicker than those at the front, and runes flowed slowly across them, almost completely isolating the muffled explosions outside.
Inside the bunker, besides the chief of the Zafa clan, Mofulei, there’s an existence that absolutely didn’t belong here!
The enchanting demon Mofulei sat in the center, wearing a dark long dress, her tail gently swaying behind her.
Bado was indifferent to the enchanting demon in front of him; he just spoke about the warriors’ situation: "Morale won’t hold. If this continues, there’s no need for a fight; we ourselves will collapse."
Bretta said nothing; she had no good solution either.
Mofulei turned her head: "You still have the combat puppets, don’t you? All three are intact, with ample magic power to continue fighting."
Bado angrily responded, "Continue fighting? Those Puki on the other side die and revive, revive and return—what are we supposed to fight with? Send the warriors to their deaths?"
Mofulei’s gaze settled on his face, her pupils glowing faintly pink: "Just follow my orders."
Bado’s forehead veins tightened, his right hand trembled slightly, fingers slowly clenching.
Yet, under Mofulei’s gaze, he eventually loosened his grip and bowed his head: "Yes."
Watching his departing back, Mofulei was somewhat puzzled about the instability of the [Charm] effect on him.
She glanced at the clan leader beside her, whom she controlled firmly. Only Bado seemed to have this issue.
If Bado wasn’t an important asset, she would have killed him already.
...
Once again, the army of Puki from Fungus Castle launched an attack.
The Mushroom Transformers were fearless, eager for battle.
In contrast, despite the impressive combat loss ratio advantage, the dwarves concealed deep-seated fear.
If it weren’t for the intangible spirit field containing them, the sight of Number Ten’s second resurrection should have already broken their mental defenses.
The dwarves’ current sole advantage lay in the three combat puppets’ ability to restrict Number Ten.
These combat puppets were different from the ones guarding the core area of Puki Dungeon; Lin Jun’s combat puppets comprised entirely of innate S-class Demon Crystals with no other material.
On the other hand, these three puppets were human-shaped alloy frames embedded with a large number of S-class Demon Crystals obtained from Lin Jun’s side.
Though there was a clear performance gap, they remain powerful, particularly against spellcasters.
The Demon Crystals on the puppets could interfere with the surrounding magic power environment, weakening and deflecting magic, effectively acting as magic disruptors.
Number Ten fighting them was like a rock-type against a grass-type, completely disadvantaged.
Fortunately, the newly researched combat puppets from the Fungus Castle factory finally arrived.
...
On the battlefield, Bado cooperated once more with the three puppets, charging into the Puki horde, hoping to decapitate Number Ten as before, even if it would return days later...
But this time, things were different.
Puh—Boom—
From the distant horizon, a series of dull thuds; something heavy approached, causing the ground to tremble.
"Is it a giant Puki?" The clan leader Zafa looked out and indeed saw a gigantic figure.
The dwarves were aware Fungus Castle had giant Puki. Encountering them now was troublesome, but they were prepared enough not to lose composure.
However, when the colossus truly appeared on the battlefield, the dwarves were stunned.
That giant Puki, taller than walls, with its mushroom cap edges curled back revealing a densely packed metal skeleton underneath.
Iron-gray alloy conduits intertwined with mycelium like vines on ancient trees, merging with the mushroom body. Runes inscribed upon it glowed blue-white.
Four tentacles coiled with metal rings, each with four giant A-level Demon Crystals suspended around them. Sixteen Demon Crystals, guided by [Resonance], emitted pure magic impacts spreading outward.
These magic impacts were not violent; Puki and dwarves caught in them weren’t harmed.
Yet, they inflicted devastating damage on magic runes on weapons and structures.
Explosions erupted across the dwarf trenches; it was the sound of their Explosive Crossbows self-destructing.
Numerous intricate runes on each small fortress, after uncontrollable agitation, fell into paralysis.
"What... What kind of monster is that?" The clan leader Zafa looked incredulously at the monster, a combination of siege combat puppet and Puki, unable to fathom how it was created.
Now the only hope seemed pinned on Bado and the combat puppets’ decapitating squad.
Yet even those three puppets were impacted by the magic shocks.
Their initially swift and precise movements began faltering occasionally.
Controlled by Bretta, two puppets meant to charge directly at the giant Puki but one stumbled due to uncoordinated movements during the charge.
The other was efficiently intercepted by Number Ten.
In an instant, combat puppet power halved, trench defenses practically nullified, and morale plummeted to rock-bottom.
Lin Jun lowered the final straw on this precarious camel’s back once more.
[Servant Maker]
A magic vortex arose from the piles of Puki corpses, mycelium danced in the air, as the magic within them enlarged the vortex.
Under the dwarves’ horrified gaze, the second giant Puki appeared directly in front of their trenches, then lifted a foot...
Now, even the spirit field couldn’t prevent the dwarves’ collapse.
The dwarves fled frantically, but the trenches they themselves dug became obstacles.
Moreover, despite short legs, dwarves lacked the Puki’s Rolling Charge skill.
The fleeing dwarves were engulfed by the rolling Puki; the almost inevitable outcome was total annihilation of both legions.
Meanwhile, Number Ten refrained from continuing entanglement with the combat puppets, instead rolling up the Yellow-covered Book, flying towards the direction of the fleeing dwarves.
Guided by the Yellow-covered Book, it located the enchanting demon towering over surrounded dwarves!
Upon seeing Mofulei, Lin Jun’s excited command echoed in its consciousness:
"So that’s it, it’s Lust! Number Ten, capture her alive!"
