Mushroom Lord in the Underground City

Chapter 766 - 753: Death of the Sword Saint

Chapter 766: Chapter 753: Death of the Sword Saint

Even the Sword Saint had to admit that Inanna’s handling of Puki was indeed exceptional; it’s no wonder Number Four would burrow into Inanna’s embrace whenever he had free time.

However, Elvyn had never indulged in this, even as a human; he never focused on enjoyment, and as a Puki, this was even more true.

Just like now, even while being RUA-ed by Inanna, he was still considering serious matters.

"Do you really not feel uncomfortable anywhere?"

"Fourteen, why do you keep asking that?"

The Sword Saint didn’t answer. He was pondering where the danger lay.

The "last time" mentioned by the boss shouldn’t be false, but he still hadn’t noticed any danger around Inanna.

He couldn’t relax his vigilance, so he temporarily guarded Inanna.

He sensed a powerful aura approaching gradually; he could discern that it was Alama.

[Qi Sensitivity] may not directly identify the target’s image, but as long as the strength of one’s qi is remembered, recognizing an expert like Alama is relatively easy.

Alama approached the main hall; the Sword Saint didn’t react.

Inanna’s daily practice of changing and rubbing Puki was no secret; the people in the Duke’s Mansion were already accustomed to it.

Only when Alama pushed open the door did the Sword Saint notice he was fully armed, with the life-sized greatsword strapped to his back.

Moreover, after entering, he unusually didn’t speak immediately but silently stared at them for a long time.

Inanna felt inexplicably stared at, and couldn’t help asking, "Old man?"

"Ah, Inanna..." Alama rubbed his brows for a moment and found an excuse, "Eric has a batch of newly collected magic items; go see if there’s anything suitable for you."

Inanna nodded, stood up holding the Sword Saint Puki, but was stopped by Alama: "Fourteen should stay here; there... he doesn’t have the authority..."

"Authority? Is Uncle Eric in the warehouse?"

"Yes, yes, in the warehouse, go on, I’ll take care of Fourteen."

"Fourteen probably doesn’t like being taken care of by others." Inanna said, leaving the room.

Unlike the unaware Inanna, Elvyn noticed Alama’s action of sending her away, somewhat curious about what his plans were.

Alama activated the runes in the main hall, isolating the space into a secret chamber.

Time passed slowly, he opened his mouth several times but never uttered a word.

Just as the Sword Saint felt suspicious, planning to go out and check on Inanna, Alama’s gaze finally became resolute.

In a flash, he grasped the sword hilt on his back.

[Fall Slash Level 10]

At the last moment, the Sword Saint Puki suddenly sprang up, and the blade grazed by the edge of the mushroom cap.

The long table shattered under Alama’s attack, wood chips scattered, and the Sword Saint’s tentacle wrapped around the few long swords sent flying, sharp and fierce!

Alama’s greatsword didn’t stop; the first sword had just passed when the second came, sweeping across with a sharp whine.

The Sword Saint retreated, blades overlapping to block, sparks flying.

Alama’s offensive was like a torrential storm, each sword heavier and faster than the last.

The walls of the main hall cracked under the aftermath, deep sword marks carved into the pillars, chandeliers fell, crashing onto the shattered floor...

At first, the Sword Saint didn’t retaliate; he merely dodged, blocked, and retreated through the broken furniture and debris.

He quickly thought about why Alama attacked him.

One possibility flashed into his mind—Spiritual Control!

Inanna was in danger!

Even with an Elemental Lord as protection, if a truly skilled attacker ambushed...

The Sword Saint stopped retreating, Moonlight brightened beneath him, dragging his form into a white afterimage.

He charged towards Alama, tentacles flicking, four long swords simultaneously dancing out.

[Stepping on the Moon]

[Extreme Sword]

Alama used his greatsword to block the two sword lights in front, but the other two swords were flung behind him by the Sword Saint Puki’s tentacle.

Blood splattered, Alama’s knee suddenly softened, body tipping forward, the greatsword supporting the ground barely stabilizing him.

The Sword Saint had just severed Alama’s ankle, though he knew the injury was far from rendering Alama powerless; however, this brief moment was enough for the Sword Saint to break free and pursue Inanna.

The frenzied battle had long torn the runes in the main hall to pieces, the glow of the magic array faded from the walls, leaving no obstacles before the Sword Saint!

But at this moment, the silent Alama finally spoke: "Though slightly different... such swordsmanship level... and Stepping on the Moon..."

The Sword Saint’s form halted abruptly, Moonlight dissipating under his short feet, silver-white fragments scattering like fireflies blown by the wind, dimming point by point.

His mushroom body stood rigidly, as if caught in a binding spell, while his mind churned like a storm, ultimately freezing on the boss’s words to him... This truly was more "fatal" than a dragon!

"Old friend," Alama’s eyes brimmed with tears, his voice trembling slightly, "Is it really you?"

Silence, silence blanketed the Duke’s Mansion that morning.

After a long while, the Sword Saint finally turned around, tentacles drooping on the ground, barely nodding the mushroom cap.

Alama dropped the greatsword, disregarding his foot injuries, striding over, kneeling in the ruined center of the main hall, tightly embracing the Sword Saint Puki.

"Elvyn, you rascal, resurrected without saying a word, keeping it from everyone! Do you know how heartbroken I was back then? You’re really... truly..."

Alama, the stoic man, shed tears, his voice laden with sincere joy.

The Sword Saint was also somewhat moved, but more of guilt, hence he did not push away this hug that squeezed his mushroom body uncomfortably.

"Old man! Fourteen! What are you doing?" Inanna, returning due to the huge commotion, stood at the cracked main hall door, her face caught between disbelief and shock.

Behind her, were the steward Eric and numerous Duke’s Mansion guards.

"Ah... nothing, nothing," Alama stood up explaining, "I just got itchy hands, exchanged a few moves with Fourteen, got carried away, accidentally tore down the main hall, it’s really... hahaha!"

"Itchy hands?" Inanna had a peculiar look.

Eric was even more suspicious, glancing at Alama, then exchanging a knowing look with him, tacitly standing out to dismiss the guards, nonchalantly organizing the staff to clean up the debris.

Before Inanna took away the Sword Saint Puki, Alama crouched down.

"Elvyn, stop by my study later, let’s have a drink, as it’s been too long, well... if you can still drink like this... You’ll have to tell me everything, what really happened to you this past two years? We can still face things together like before if there’s anything!"

"Oh, and," Alama’s voice suddenly lowered, "Do tell me why you repeatedly end up lying in my daughter’s arms."

Inanna approached, scooped up the limp and exhausted Sword Saint Puki into her arms, and left the main hall under Alama’s gentle smile.
