Mushroom Lord in the Underground City

Chapter 721 - 710: United Kingdom’s Strongest Battle Power

Chapter 721: Chapter 710: United Kingdom’s Strongest Battle Power

United Kingdom, a certain city in the eastern section of the new defense line.

The runes on the city wall lit up one after another in the twilight, like a fuse being ignited, spreading from this city head all the way west, disappearing behind the distant mountains.

Every few breaths, new magic power from afar flowed through the runes along the entire city wall, until it entered the city, drawn from the reserves of the three nearest cities.

Outside the city, a White Dragon was raging.

Its scales shimmered with a cold silver-blue under the moonlight, its wingspan covering half the sky.

Most arrows and magic launched from the city were blocked by its hard scales, while a few threatening attacks, like explosive bed crossbows, were dodged by its wings’ flaps.

The Giant Dragon relentlessly collided with the city wall.

Each time it struck, a section of runes on the city walls dimmed, and the defending soldiers were thrown off balance, some clutching their ears while climbing off the ground, blood streaming from their noses.

Yet every time, those dimmed runes would light up again after a few breaths, as magic power continued to pour in from afar ceaselessly.

Thanks to the sturdiness of the new defense line, the city finally awaited reinforcements.

Lorenzo and Inanna, riding swiftly on their steed, had already spotted the White Dragon in the sky from afar.

The Fat Mage, on his way there, couldn’t help but complain to his niece: "It’s never-ending, isn’t it? After the Demon Race, fog, and bugs, now it’s Giant Dragons? What’s next?"

"These dragons, in the past, it was hard to encounter even one, but now they’re appearing in groups. Something must have happened at Dragon Cliff Dungeon on the Empire’s side."

"Unfortunately, that Old Bat Mortis has been keeping the news there tightly sealed lately, so we don’t know the specifics."

"Don’t worry about your father, niece, he’s fought dragons before, he knows how to handle them, he’ll be fine."

"In battle, stand behind me; your uncle will keep you safe."

Inanna, with Number Ten and Sword Saint Puki, nodded obediently: "Okay, Uncle Lorenzo."

Arriving at the city gate, the guards, upon seeing Lorenzo, seemed as though they’d encountered a savior, nearly throwing themselves to the ground weeping.

And indeed, they were.

If Lorenzo had been even half a day later, even with the magic supply from other cities, the defense runes in this city would not have held up.

Moreover, withstanding Dragon Might and battling a Giant Dragon was far more stressful than ordinary battles.

Only the experienced veterans who had been through wars could maintain their will to resist under Dragon Might.

Some also noticed Inanna, known as a war hero.

However, it was well-known that in the last war, Inanna won the battle of Dragon’s Roar Valley by commanding Elementals and the Puki army.

Her individual combat strength didn’t seem to have any notable records.

At the moment, besides carrying two Puki with her, there were only Lorenzo’s trusted aides following behind.

Nevertheless, Inanna’s arrival somewhat boosted morale.

Lorenzo stood atop the Magic Tower, Magic Staff held high, the lightning at its tip growing brighter, illuminating the entire city head like daylight.

He took a deep breath, and a lightning column burst forth from the staff’s tip, as thick as an ancient tree, striking toward the White Dragon.

Scales shattered, flesh and blood splattering, the White Dragon finally got injured.

The White Dragon’s roar changed tone, turning from anger to pain, its massive body tilted sharply in the air.

The lightning column pierced a fist-sized hole through its wing membrane, the edges charred and smoking, causing its flight posture to suddenly become unstable, flapping frantically several times to regain balance.

However, this strike did not make it retreat but rather incited its ferocity.

The White Dragon’s pupils narrowed into a vertical line, a fierce glint shooting out from its icy eyes.

It opened its enormous mouth, spewing forth a wave of pale frost dragon breath.

The protective shield on the city wall held for barely two breaths before tearing open a crack, allowing the frost to pour in, instantly engulfing the nearby section of the wall.

Several soldiers, unable to evade in time, turned into ice sculptures in mid-run, their fearful expressions still frozen on their faces.

The frost swept over the wall, heading straight for Lorenzo atop the Magic Tower.

The trusted aides rushed forward immediately, shields joining together, crouching low to erect a defense before the white torrent. Meanwhile, Lorenzo held his Magic Staff horizontally before him, a blue Magic Shield unfurled in front, keeping the freezing cold at bay.

The Magic Shield rippled, droplets of sweat beaded on Lorenzo’s forehead, trickling down his round face, his arms trembling, the Magic Staff growing heavier, the shield’s color fading from deep blue to light blue, then nearly transparent white.

This White Dragon’s dragon breath was exceptionally prolonged!

Everyone realized that the Magic Shield was about to shatter!

The trusted aides activated layer upon layer of defense skills, ready to use their bodies to block the dragon breath.

Lorenzo took a step left, positioning Inanna behind him.

Crack——

The shield finally shattered, but the expected frost did not arrive.

A brand new shield had somehow enveloped everyone.

"Inanna?"

Lorenzo turned back in shock, only to find that Inanna’s Magic Staff wasn’t glowing. The source of the shield’s magic power was from above!

Number Ten hovered in mid-air, its mushroom body wrapped in layers of auras, magic power gushing from within, flowing along a trajectory, weaving a dense mesh around it, and extending outward from each node of that mesh, ultimately forming the shield encasing the entire tower top.

As a Mage, Lorenzo could clearly perceive that this Puki wasn’t using an innate Demon skill, but actually casting a spell.

And... without relying on a Demon Crystal?

The scene before him completely defied Lorenzo’s understanding, leaving him speechless, mouth agape.

"Uncle Lorenzo, take a short rest." Inanna said, unexpectedly stepping out of the shield.

Lorenzo instinctively tried to pull his niece back, to stop this dangerous act, only to have his hand slapped away by Sword Saint Puki’s tentacle.

Upon exiting the shield, a fiery robe ignited around Inanna, evaporating a large area of frost into vapor.

Inanna raised her right hand, the Ring of Restraint glowing: "Xiaohuo."

"Little one, call me Fire Lord!" With a loud roar, the Fire Elemental Lord, no smaller in size than the Giant Dragon, emerged from the Ring of Restraint, pouncing towards the slightly dazed White Dragon as soon as it was freed.

"You icy-breathing pests, all deserve death!"

The two giant creatures clashed fiercely, Sword Saint Puki observing from the tower’s edge for a moment before removing its tentacle from the sword hilt.
