Ms. Doctor Divine

Chapter 65 - Discomfort

Chapter 65: Discomfort

Gu Chaoyan had always kept a very calm expression on her face. Seeing Qing failing at the first attempt, she walked forward and said to the housekeeper with a very soft voice, “I can cure Lin Jiashu.”

The housekeeper was about to spill out the words to turn them down when he got startled.

He did not seem to have been able to accept this sudden news.

“Just go and tell the Old master that the Young Master of the Wang Family was cured by me too. Don’t worry that you will get scolded,” Gu Chaoyan said.

The housekeeper decided to give it a try.

The Lin Family had tried many famous doctors these years. They took in every doctor that came to the doorstep.

So when he heard what Chaoyan said, he told the other minor housekeepers and said, “Stay here, I will tell the Old Master.”

The minor housekeepers nodded. They were no longer looking at Gu Chaoyan’s gang with disdain.

Qing laughed cheerfully and tugged at Gu Chaoyan’s hand. “Miss, you are so excellent! You can do anything!”

Gu Chaoyan smiled briefly.

Actually, the reason why she insisted on coming to the Lin Family was not only trying to get the list. The contracts of the most valuable fields and stores of the Lin Family were actually hidden in the Qiong Pavilion. For some reason, those lists were not taken away. She came to the Lin Family because that was her mother’s home. The Gu Family looked down at the Lin Family now, but Gu Chaoyan hoped that the two families could have communications with each other.

As far as she knew from the original host’s memories, Gu Chaoyan knew that the Lin Family were quite arrogant too.

She was going to leave the Gu Family when time came.

However, she did not plan to suck up to the Lin Family, at least not yet, she had to be accepted by the Lin Family first.

If she could cure Lin Jiashu, she would remove the past conflicts with this favor.

As Gu Chaoyan was thinking about something else, the housekeeper returned and said with a polite smile, “Miss. Gu, the Old Master asks you to come in.” He showed such courtesy because he feared his earlier behavior would have offended them.

Gu Chaoyan lowered her head and nodded, then she entered the Lin Mansion.

The Lin Mansion was not a large one, with only three doors.

It was said that after Master Lin was gone, this courtyard was bought to hold the few members of the family and now, they were keeping a low-profile and living in the outskirts of the capital.

Judging from this low-profiled courtyard she could never have seen that the family living here had been an extremely rich imperial business family before.

No wonder the Gu Family did not want to speak with the Lin Family at all.

Gu Chaoyan showed a sneering smile as she thought about this.

The housekeeper left when she was guided to the hall of the Lin Mansion.

Gu Chaoyan walked in with Qing, whilst Rong Chuxuan was waiting outside to keep them safe.

Old Master and Mrs. Lin were also Gu Chaoyan’s uncle and aunt. Now seated on the main chairs, they showed serious expressions on their faces as if they were receiving an ordinary doctor. They showed no joy in seeing their own niece.

Gu Chaoyan could understand this feeling. She bowed and said, “Greetings, Uncle and Aunt.”

“Ha.” The Old Master snorted and said with a long face, “We are just a poor business family who can’t accept your greetings.”

That was how the young Gu Chaoyan replied to them as the Gu Family taught her when the Old Master wanted to get close to her years earlier. The Old Master remembered these words clearly, so he countered her when he heard her greetings.

Mrs. Lin patted Old Master’s hand and said to Gu Chaoyan, “Your uncle has always been childish.”

However, she did not want to greet her back either.

She asked, “You said that you can cure Jiashu, is that true?”
