Chapter 1079 Immortal Meridian pill

Chapter 1079: Chapter 1079 Immortal Meridian pill

The ’Immortal Meridian fruit’ was a rank 8 medicinal herb, but even among other herbs of the same tier, its effects could only be described as wondrous.

It allowed a cultivator who consumed it to enlarge their meridians to the absolute limit of what their body could handle.

Even in the Immortal Dimension, few people could ever get their hands on such a treasure, and even fewer lived to tell the tale.

Anyone who consumed such a thing was basically guaranteed to make it to ’Earth Immortal’ in the future, provided their comprehension of the Dao wasn’t abysmal.

Shun Long was surprised the ’Imperial Mandate sect’ would even offer a treasure like this as a reward, alongside that giant piece of ’Sun-blessed spiritual rock’ he’d ended up feeding Little Black.

But naturally, the drawbacks of such a treasure were also immense.

There was a reason it was called the ’wonder fruit of death’. Seven out of ten people who ate it would end up dead or crippled due to their meridians bursting.

But that was precisely why high-level alchemists were regarded as living gods. A pill successfully concocted using the Immortal Meridian fruit as its base was bound to fetch an unbelievable price... if it ever saw the light of day.

Even late-stage Sovereigns would go crazy over something like that.

Shun Long stared at his medicinal garden inside the ’Stone of Time’, at the three ’Immortal Meridian fruits’ he had cultivated, and let out a quiet breath.

Growing rank 8 medicinal herbs was really strenuous. The amount of qi and time required to grow a single one of them was on a completely different level compared to rank 6 and even rank 7 herbs. It took a full year for one of these ’Immortal Meridian fruits’ to grow to maturity.

Shun Long glanced at the giant silver cauldron a few meters away and steeled his heart. He already had everything needed.

A peak 2-star grade cauldron he had purchased from the White Tiger chamber of commerce last year for an exorbitant price, dozens of rank 6 and rank 7 herbs, an earth flame, and the ’Immortal Meridian fruit’.

A few moments later, his soul sense surged outward as he plucked fruit after fruit from his medicine garden.

Almost a hundred rank 6 herbs evaporated in an instant, turning into streams of pure essence that swirled inside his cauldron.

Soon, the rank 7 herbs followed.

Even high-level rank 7 herbs like the ’Golden Light flower’ could only be used as supplementary materials for this ’Immortal Meridian pill’ he was refining.

Shun Long could feel his spiritual sense draining at an alarming rate as his purple-colored earth flame blazed brighter and brighter, lighting up the entirety of the foggy space.

By the time only the ’Immortal Meridian fruit’ was left, more than a dozen rank 7 herbs had turned into ash, refined into balls of pure essence that turned into a bright green liquid inside the cauldron.

Finally, Shun Long turned his gaze to the small orange fruit with spiral-like patterns. It was a little larger than his fist, but he could tell that the medicinal essence inside it was dozens of times denser than the combined essence of the hundreds of rank 6 and rank 7 herbs he’d just used.

Without any hesitation, he tossed it into the cauldron as well.

...

Shun Long had no idea how much time had passed. By the end of the first day, a third of his spiritual strength had already been depleted, and by the time three full days had gone by, his spiritual sea was almost entirely empty.

Even among rank 8 spiritual herbs, the ’Immortal Meridian fruit’ was simply too difficult to refine. It was virtually impossible for any early-stage Sovereign to extract its essence without running out of spiritual strength first.

But Shun Long didn’t stop.

The moment his spiritual strength ran out, his ’Monarch’s Domain’ spread out and covered the silver cauldron, freezing the state of the concoction before he closed his eyes and recovered.

And as soon as he did, he started again.

It was uncertain how long it had taken him. After the first 10 repetitions, Shun Long had stopped counting completely. He fell into a trance, simply extracting the ’Immortal Meridian fruit’s’ essence until he no longer could and had to rest again.

...

The next time he opened his eyes wasn’t when the small ball of orange essence met the bright green liquid. It was when five earthen-brown pills sat at the bottom of the cauldron and his earth flame finally snuffed out.

The crackling of flames disappeared, and for a long moment, the only sounds inside the foggy space were Shun Long’s labored breathing and the rhythmic exhaling coming out of Little Black’s nostrils.

For a long moment, Shun Long didn’t move. He just let the aroma of medicinal herbs drift past him as he stared at the interior of his cauldron.

Five smooth and perfectly round pills sat at its center, each one the size of a large marble, their surfaces marked with faint spiral patterns. Each pill pulsed with medicinal qi so concentrated that even the surrounding air seemed to be affected.

Shun Long’s golden eyes lingered on the two pills closest to him before he let out a breath.

He had actually succeeded!

This ’Immortal Meridian pill’ was something that even a 2-star alchemist shouldn’t be able to refine, and yet he’d succeeded.

Five pseudo 3-star pills now sat in his cauldron.

Even without touching them, Shun Long could tell. The two pills closest to him were actually top-grade pills.

Their surface was flawless, without the slightest imperfection, while on the inside they were free from any impurities.

His gaze shifted towards the other three.

Two of the remaining three were high-grade pills, while the last one was a middle-grade pill on the cusp of being a high-grade.

Shun Long didn’t seem to sense the grin that had found its way to his face as he absent-mindedly stared at his cauldron.

A few moments later, he let out a breath and stored the pills inside a translucent bottle before he sorted out his thoughts.

He knew that these ’Immortal Meridian pills’ would soon shake the peace of both Amber Dawn and the surrounding cities.

But before that, he had two other things to take care of.

He had to break through to a Dao Emperor... and pay Lord Xia a visit!
