Chapter 1069 Shun Long’s request

Chapter 1069: Chapter 1069 Shun Long’s request

It only took a few minutes for the white-robed attendants of the pavilion to prepare the three middle-grade rank 7 medicinal herbs, under the gazes of the surrounding Dao Kings and Dao Emperors.

In fact, it was the purple-robed manager, Zhou Wuyi, himself, who personally presented them to Shun Long, with a deep bow.

Shun Long could tell that Zhou Wuyi had most likely received a mental transmission from the silver-robed Sovereign, Bai Yunhai, about the current situation in Iron Dawn and why he left so hesitantly with that black-robed Sovereign, but he wasn’t planning to ask.

Putting aside how Zhou Wuyi wouldn’t dare to divulge information he had gotten from his boss to an outsider, Shun Long wasn’t planning on attracting any more attention and involve himself in the matters of Iron Dawn.

Well, not openly, at least.

After receiving the three herbs, he calmly made his way out of the ’Hundred Fragrance pavilion’, escorted by two white-robed attendants that Zhou Wuyi had personally instructed to keep him company until he left.

...

A few minutes later, Shun Long was back on the busy streets of Iron Dawn.

This time, however, he didn’t linger to take in the sights around him.

He simply made a sharp turn and headed for that white-marbled building a few dozen kilometers from the Hundred Fragrance pavilion.

...

The White Tiger chamber of commerce had branches in every major city throughout the continent, and just like Amber Dawn, Iron Dawn was no different.

The commercial behemoth traded in anything and everything that was of value.

"As long as something existed, the White Tiger chamber of commerce could provide it," or at least that was their motto.

And as expected, even the branch buildings of such a behemoth were no less impressive than the headquarters of first-tier powers in Iron Dawn.

The massive white building that was easily as tall as the pagoda of the ’Hundred Fragrance pavilion’, rose like a fortress at the heart of Iron Dawn, with streams of cultivators coming and going through its entrance, like schools of fish drawn towards food.

Even under Iron Dawn’s hubbub of noise and endless life, the crowd in front of the White Tiger chamber of commerce was truly unmatched.

Shun Long had seen the commerce’s branches in many major cities around the continent, including the branch in the Holy city and even the one in the Northern Sovereign’s city, but Iron Dawn’s branch seemed to dwarf both in size and life.

Four enormous pillars framed the entrance as well, each carved with a prowling white tiger whose eyes were set with thumb-sized azure moonstones. Their maws were half-open, and anyone who approached them could faintly sense the powerful formations placed around each pillar.

In front of the entrance, Shun Long stopped and glanced at the four statues for a few moments, before he finally made his way inside.

...

The first floor stretched as far as the eye could see, and for a moment, even Shun Long was taken aback as he took in the scene in front of him.

Beneath the high-coffered ceiling, long aisles ran in perfect parallels, and on either side, weapons and armor of different grades sat behind the glass cases covered in protective formations, along with other miscellaneous items like talismans and protective charms.

From silver-grade equipment, all the way to 1-star weapons and armor, everything was for sale on this floor.

As he walked around, Shun Long could even feel the auras of a few Dao Kings and even some Dao Emperors hidden in the shadows, who most likely belonged to the White Tiger chamber of commerce and were there to ensure that nothing untoward happened.

Not that anyone would dare to stir up trouble in a branch of the continent’s most influential trade vendor, but it was impossible to not have any guards regardless.

Still, Shun Long didn’t linger. He only glanced at the items on the first floor before he made his way towards the second.

The layout of the second floor was very similar to that of the Hundred Fragrance’s Night Hall: rows of glass counters were neatly arranged in a snake-like pattern, with attendants in neat grey robes standing behind them, and the scent of medicine filling the place.

Unfortunately, the glimmer in Shun Long’s eyes had already died down before it could even light up when he realized that there were actually no medicinal herbs for sale. It seemed that, unlike Hundred Fragrance who dealt with anything related to alchemy, the White Tiger chamber of commerce only sold pills.

Of course, Shun Long had to admit that the quality of the pills here weren’t that inferior even when compared to those on the second floor of the Night Hall, but well... they were still far below the quality of his own shop.

The third and fourth floors dealt in beast cores and carcasses of magic beasts, as well as cultivation techniques and martial skills.

Unlike the first and second floors that dealt with both low and high-level weapons, armor, and pills, the third floor sold strictly the carcasses and cores of rank 6 and rank 7 magic beasts.

Shun Long even saw the bodies of some peak rank 7 magic beasts for sale. Unfortunately, their beast cores had already been snatched up by others.

Eventually, Shun Long moved past the third and fourth floors and made his way to the fifth, when the outline of the floor finally changed.

The fifth floor stretched into a hushed, long corridor, with nearly fifty doors on each side. Red-robed attendants stood in front of each door, with their hands clasped behind their backs and their gazes steady forward.

Even without spreading out his soul sense, Shun Long could feel it. He could tell that each of those doors was covered in protective formations that were no weaker than the ones covering the glass cases on the second and fourth floors, while the red-robed attendants standing guard were actually peak-stage Dao Kings. A hundred peak-stage Dao Kings were merely acting as attendants!

The moment he stepped on the fifth floor, Shun Long could already see one of the red-robed attendants walking towards him.

The man stopped a few paces away and gave him a bow, before he said in an even, yet respectful voice

"Honored customer, if you are browsing, this is the last public floor. The fifth level is reserved for clients who wish to place personal requests for our chamber to fulfill." He lifted his eyes just enough to meet Shun Long’s chin and continued, "If you seek such a service, we will be pleased to assist you."

Shun Long looked at the attendant and nodded before he said in the old, raspy voice of ’alchemist Han’

"Lead the way, friend."

The attendant’s bow deepened, his sleeves flowing before he finally straightened his back and answered,

"I understand. Please come this way."

He led Shun Long down the corridor before he stopped in front of one of the doors on the left. He pulled out a jade token and touched the wooden door, and the formations around it receded like the tide.

Inside was a simple, tasteful room: A sandalwood floor, a low blackwood table carved with faint cloud patterns, two thick cushions on opposite sides of the table, and finally, a quiet incense burner emitting threads of pale, orange smoke that drifted toward the ceiling.

The attendant closed the door softly, gestured towards one of the cushions, and waited until the azure-robed elder sat down before taking his own seat by the entrance.

Protective formations flared around the room, completely enveloping the two men inside, before the red-robed attendant raised his head and said calmly

"Honored customer, my name is Ma Jun, and I will be the one processing any requests you may have. Please tell me, how may our chamber assist you? Bear in mind that we will not be taking on any assassination missions, but if you need help finding a person, a magic beast, or even locating and retrieving a specific treasure, the experts of our chamber will take on any mission as long as you have enough spirit stones."

The red-robed attendant didn’t speak any further. He just looked at the azure-robed elder and smiled as he puffed out his chest.

Just like that, complete silence filled the room for a moment, as Shun Long looked at the red-robed man sitting opposite him.

Indeed, that was precisely why he had decided to visit the ’White Tiger chamber of commerce’. Because it was said that as long as one had enough spirit stones, the chamber would take on any request that person had, regardless of difficulty... as long as it didn’t involve any killing or crippling, that was.

And yet, as Shun Long stared at the man sitting opposite him, he couldn’t help but shake his head, feeling a little bit of pity. His ’request’ this time was really going to be a bit troublesome. At the very least, Ma Jun would have some trouble processing it himself.

In the end, his golden eyes flickered once, his expression turning dead-serious as he spoke,

"I heard that the Iron Dawn Sovereign has summoned all the Sovereigns of Iron Dawn into his estate. I want your chamber of commerce to look into it."
