Chapter 1050 Transaction
Chapter 1050: Chapter 1050 Transaction
"Five pills a day? Not bad, fatty. Good job." Shun Long’s voice wasn’t loud, but old Lu who was walking beside him, heard it loud and clear.
"Senior?" The middle-aged man tried to probe him again, but this time, Shun Long answered his question without delay
"’Soul purifying pills’ huh? You are almost a peak-stage Dao King, so you should know that rank 5 pills don’t have much of an effect on you. As for that rule you mentioned, that’s probably something my disciples implemented. You’d have to ask them if you want to know more."
"Ah! I see..." The middle-aged man was clearly downcast upon hearing Shun Long’s response that didn’t leave him much room to wiggle.
Of course, he knew that rank 5 pills didn’t have much of an effect on someone like him. In fact, he didn’t even feel anything upon consumption. But he didn’t have a choice.
It wasn’t like he could beg Shun Long to bend the rules for him, either, considering they’d only interacted twice so far. It was more likely that this ’senior’ would view him in a bad light if he even suggested something like that.
But still, old Lu was clearly reluctant to give up so quickly. After all, this was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to talk to a master alchemist and ask for a favor. Even if he had to risk being seen in a negative light, he could only bite the arrow and give it a try.
So after a few moments of silence -something that was quite difficult for the middle-aged man, apparently- he looked at Shun Long and gritted his teeth before he continued
"...In that case, senior, can you tell me if there are any pills with similar effects to the ’Soul purifying pill’ that are suitable for Dao Kings? Ah, I’m not asking you for a discount! I’ll pay as much as you ask for them."
Shun Long could tell that the middle-aged man was truly desperate for some reason. From the look in his eyes, it was obvious that he was willing to break the bank as long as Shun Long nodded his head and promised him the pills.
"Your spiritual strength is a bit weak for a late-stage Dao King, sure, but it’s not that bad. What do you need the pills so badly for?"
Old Lu’s face lit up when he heard that, and without missing a beat, he hurriedly asked
"Does that mean you are willing to help me, senior?"
The middle-aged man took a few deep breaths to calm himself down before he continued
"Ah, right, let me explain first. As senior can tell, I’m at the early rank 9 of the Dao King realm. I should be able to reach the peak of rank 9 in the next couple of years, too, if I’m lucky. However, my spiritual strength is a bit weak. A bit too weak. Obviously, that’s not a problem that would directly affect my cultivation." The man paused for a moment, and in that split second, Shun Long could see old Lu’s eyes narrowing dangerously, before he continued
"But I want to become a Dao Emperor! I’ll do everything I can to become one! I will either succeed... or I’ll die trying!
Still, as much as I want it, I know my spiritual strength is lacking, and there is a chance it will affect my breakthrough. After all, I’ve heard that the tribulation to the Dao Emperor realm targets not only the body, but also the soul. I already know my talent is limited, so I can’t take any chances, senior! This is why I need to increase my spiritual strength! I need to prepare as best as I can!"
Shun Long nodded his head and kept quiet as he continued making his way toward the heart of Amber Dawn.
The truth was that he wasn’t particularly interested in Old Lu. As harsh as this may be to the man, Shun Long already had too much on his plate. His alchemy shop, the resources Little Black needed for his own cultivation, dealing with the Amber Dawn Sovereign and the two assassin guilds, the pursuit from Xuan Bo and the Tianxuan dynasty along with the enormous bounty on his head, and even the cultivators from the ’Immortal Dimension’ who had suddenly descended into the continent.
In comparison, whatever old Lu’s story was, it wasn’t something Shun Long could concern himself with.
However, as he looked at the man, Shun Long couldn’t help but curl his lips into a smile.
Patting old Lu’s shoulder, he said after a while
"Perhaps it’s fate, then. I’ve been planning to refine a certain pill called the ’Azure Harmony pill’. It’s a star-rank pill made specifically for Dao Kings who are about to advance to the Dao Emperor realm. My disciples are all peak-stage Dao Kings, so it’s about time they start considering their breakthroughs. Coincidentally, that pill will be much more helpful to you than any number of ’Soul purifying pills’ you consume."
Old Lu trembled when he heard that, and without any hesitation, he immediately fell on his knees.
Shun Long couldn’t remember the last time someone had acted like this before he could even finish a sentence, but the man didn’t seem to care about any of that, as he prostrated himself in the middle of Amber Dawn.
"Senior, please help me! I know I may be unworthy, but I swear that as long as you help me, whatever you ask of me in the future, I, Yang Lu, will comply without any hesitation. Even if you ask me to go through hell, I’ll do so without any complaints! I can swear this on my Dao of Earth!"
Shaking his head, Shun Long patted the man’s shoulder and said
"There’s no need for that. I’m going to have some extra pills, so I don’t mind giving you one of them. Like I said, consider this fate. I can’t promise it will be a top-grade pill, but it will be a high-grade one at least."
"That’s enough! That’s more than enough!" Old Lu didn’t get up and instead continued to kowtow in the middle of the street, to the point where he began to attract gazes from all the passersby.
Seeing how they were becoming the center of attention, Shun Long patted the man’s shoulder again and continued
"Alright, that’s enough. You don’t need to kneel. There is something I need your help with, so you can just consider this a transaction."
