Chapter 911: The Girl Who Fell From Another World

[Unedited! Don’t buy!]

The cold night wind whipped violently against Evie’s face as she sprinted toward the edge of the rooftop.

"REN!"

Her voice cracked through the air just as Ren disappeared over the ledge.

Without hesitation, Evie dove after him.

The world blurred around her.

The forty-story drop should have terrified anyone, but Evie’s evolved body reacted differently. Her mind calculated speed, distance, and momentum in an instant. Neon lights streaked past her vision while the roaring wind howled in her ears.

Below, Ren’s lifeless body plummeted rapidly toward the pavement.

Evie stretched her hand forward.

Too far.

Damn it!

She kicked against the side of the building, using the wall to propel herself downward faster. Concrete shattered beneath her feet from the impact.

Above, the gunmen stared over the rooftop edge in disbelief.

"What the hell—?!"

"She jumped too?!"

Evie ignored them.

Her eyes locked onto Ren.

No. He couldn’t die here.

Not like this.

Not after everything.

The memories of Nexus flashed inside her mind — the countless battlefields, the rivers of blood, the endless wars against mutated horrors. Through all of it, Ren had survived. He had always survived.

Yet now, in this weak Rank-D world, he died because of humans.

Pathetic humans.

Evie’s eyes glowed faintly silver as she accelerated.

Just before Ren’s body struck the ground, she caught him midair and twisted her body.

BOOM!

The street exploded beneath them as Evie landed heavily on one knee, cracks spiderwebbing through the pavement.

Car alarms blared instantly.

Nearby pedestrians screamed and scattered in terror.

Dust rose around them.

Evie ignored everything as she looked down at Ren in her arms.

Blood stained his mouth.

His limbs bent unnaturally.

His chest had caved inward from the fall.

Dead.

Evie clenched her teeth.

"No..."

For the first time in years, panic crept into her voice.

She quickly pressed two fingers against his neck.

Nothing.

No pulse.

She grabbed a metallic syringe from her bag with trembling hands.

A Revival Serum.

One of the precious items she brought from Nexus.

She stabbed it into Ren’s neck without hesitation and injected the glowing blue liquid into his bloodstream.

"Come on..."

Nothing happened.

Her heart sank.

Then—

THUMP.

A faint heartbeat.

Evie’s eyes widened.

THUMP!

Ren’s body suddenly convulsed violently.

His eyes snapped open.

He gasped sharply, sucking in air as if drowning.

Pain exploded throughout his body.

"What... what the hell—?!"

He coughed blood violently while staring upward in confusion.

Evie almost laughed in relief.

"It worked..."

Ren blinked repeatedly.

The first thing he saw was a beautiful woman with silver hair and glowing eyes staring at him closely.

"...Am I dead?"

"You were."

"...What?"

"You jumped off a building."

Ren stared blankly for several seconds.

Then his memories returned.

The betrayal.

Sleeping Dragon.

The gunmen.

His fall.

His expression darkened instantly.

"...Those bastards."

His voice trembled with fury.

Evie carefully helped him sit up.

"You shouldn’t move yet."

"My body..." Ren looked at himself in disbelief.

The broken bones.

The shattered limbs.

They were healing.

Slowly... but visibly.

"What did you inject into me?"

"You don’t need to worry about that right now."

Ren looked at her suspiciously.

"Who are you?"

Evie froze slightly.

Right.

This Ren didn’t know her.

Not yet.

In her timeline, they had fought side by side for years.

But this version of him was still weak. Still human.

Still unaware of the nightmare waiting for the world.

Evie slowly stood and offered him her hand.

"My name is Evie."

Ren hesitated before accepting it.

The moment their hands touched, a strange feeling surged through both of them.

A faint pulse.

Like energy resonating.

Evie narrowed her eyes slightly.

Interesting.

Could it be...?

No. Impossible.

Ren frowned.

"What was that?"

"Nothing."

Before he could ask further—

BANG!

A gunshot echoed above.

The rooftop guards had reached the lower floors and spotted them.

"There they are!"

"Shoot them!"

Bullets rained down instantly.

Evie moved instantly.

Her body blurred.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

The bullets bounced harmlessly off a transparent barrier that formed around them.

Ren’s eyes widened.

"...What the hell?!"

Evie grabbed his arm.

"We need to leave."

"What ARE you?!"

"No time."

Another squad of armed men emerged from the building entrance.

There were at least twenty of them now.

Sleeping Dragon truly wanted Ren dead.

Evie clicked her tongue.

Annoying.

She reached into her bag again and pulled out three small black spheres.

Ren noticed glowing blue lines pulsing across their surfaces.

"Get down."

Evie tossed the spheres forward.

BOOM!

The street erupted in blinding electrical explosions.

Men screamed as thousands of volts surged through their bodies.

Vehicles short-circuited instantly.

Streetlights exploded.

The entire road plunged into chaos.

Ren stared in complete shock.

"Are those... grenades?"

"Something like that."

Evie dragged him into a nearby alley before more reinforcements arrived.

Ren struggled to keep up.

His body still hurt despite the rapid healing.

"What’s happening?" he demanded.

"Why are those people trying to kill me? Who are you? And how the hell did you survive that fall?!"

Evie glanced at him silently.

How could she even begin explaining?

That in a few months this world would collapse?

That monsters would flood the streets?

That humanity would nearly go extinct?

That he would eventually become one of the strongest beings in existence?

None of it sounded believable.

Especially not now.

"You stole something important from Sleeping Dragon, didn’t you?" Evie asked instead.

Ren’s expression hardened.

"...Research files."

"What kind?"

He hesitated.

Evie could already guess.

Viruses.

Biological experiments.

Mutation studies.

Just like the intel from Nexus described.

Finally, Ren spoke quietly.

"They were experimenting on people."

Evie’s eyes narrowed.

Bingo.

Ren clenched his fists tightly.

"I spent years working for them. I thought we were developing medical technology."

His voice grew bitter.

"But those bastards were testing on live subjects. Homeless people. Orphans. Employees who disappeared."

His breathing became shaky from anger.

"I found documents tonight. Videos too."

He looked sick remembering it.

"They created some kind of virus."

Evie remained silent.

The beginning of the apocalypse.

Ren looked at her sharply.

"You already knew, didn’t you?"

"...A little."

"How?"

"That’s complicated."

Ren laughed bitterly.

"Right. Because none of this is already insane enough."

Sirens echoed throughout the distance.

Police.

More security teams.

The city was waking up.

Evie looked toward the night sky.

Things were accelerating faster than expected.

That wasn’t good.

Suddenly—

A loud scream echoed nearby.

Both of them turned.

At the far end of the street, a man staggered out from a convenience store.

Blood covered his mouth.

His body twitched violently.

"What the..."
