366 The Drama at Sea 1
Isolde’s idea of fun didn’t have any semblance to the idea of fun Leonel had in mind.
The man’s idea of fun was something along the lines of swimming near the shores, away from the giant waves, building sand castles, and getting buried under the sand.
pAnDa (nov)e1 On the contrary, Isolde’s idea of fun was something along the lines of floating in the air using a parachute with a boat pulling it so fast.
During the activity, the boat was so rapid that Leonel felt like he had experienced death at least ten times. Even just watching Isolde glide on the water with a jet ski as fast as race cars pulling her made him feel like puking.
While Isolde was surfing in the big waves like a pro, Leonel was on the shore, building a sandcastle like a kid as he waited for his girlfriend to finish.
In truth, Leonel didn’t enjoy the sea as much as the others because he didn’t even know how to swim. However, he didn’t want to say anything about it, especially since it could be seen with the naked eye that Isolde loved the beach.
He just did his best to keep quiet and look least idiotic as he could while watching her do all those crazy sports.
Isolde had actually treated him well. She was kind and never even joked about his fear of the sea or that he couldn’t swim. When she found out about it, she even offered to give him lessons, which he accepted.
Unfortunately, after multiple struggles, he failed to learn, so he felt bad and urged the lady to enjoy herself and told her that he’d wait for her by the shore.
After building a ‘castle’ — it ultimately ended up looking like a hill. Leonel’s eyes then caught Ren and Saya again. Anyway, he was supposed to have his eyes on the two since he came here for Ren, to begin with.
It just happened that he accidentally forgot about it as time passed . . .
Anyway, Leonel thought that if he couldn’t get anything from Ren, then he might as well get it from Saya. He was just waiting for the perfect opportunity.
Sadly, Leonel realized that he was just wasting his time waiting for an opportunity in vain. At the current moment, Ren was rubbing sunscreen on Saya’s back while the latter was sitting on the pool lounger, enjoying Ren’s attention.
Leonel couldn’t believe the Saya he was looking at now. She used to be so reserved and a lot more conservative than that.
What the hell happened?
Meanwhile, Ren looked like he was a walking corpse with his dead expression.
It was painful to watch the two of them.
Could that get any worse?
“Leo?”
Egh . . . that voice. D-don’t tell me.
Like in a slow motion, Leonel turned back to find his worst fear coming to life.
“E-vie?” Of course, she had just got to be here.
Just a meter before him stood Evie in a waitress dress with a tray in hand. She had a mask over her mouth to hide half her face, but Leonel could easily recognize that white hair and emotionless silver eyes anywhere.
“E-Evie!” Leonel shot from his spot when he realized that it was indeed her and not just a product of the heat getting into his head.
“W-what are you doing here?” Leonel stuttered while trying his best to block Ren and Saya from her line of sight. Her timing just had to be perfect.
“So it’s really you,” Evie muttered before answering, “I’m here because the restaurant I work for catered a part of the menu on Silvia’s birthday.”
“You’re already rich, but you’re still working in that restaurant?”
Evie opened her mouth, but she closed it again and looked away. There was confusion on her face before it quickly disappeared as she changed the topic.
“Are you here alone?” Evie questioned.
Leonel thought that it was Evie’s way of asking if Ren was here, so he answered in a roundabout way, “I’m here with Isolde. She’s over there.”
Evie spotted Isolde surfing the waves, and she was about to ask about a certain someone, but she decided against it and changed the topic.
It didn’t concern her anymore.
“Do you want some?” Evie offered the bacon snacks in her tray to Leonel, who was praying hard that Evie wouldn’t notice Ren nearby.
“Yeah, sure. Thanks.” Leonel snatched a few snacks before pushing Evie in a not-so-subtle way.
“I’m good now. Don’t worry about me. I think those groups there need some food,” he said, pointing in the opposite direction from where Ren and Saya were.
However, the more he tried to shoo her away, the more he failed.
“Another waitress is in charge of that area. I’m tasked to serve on this part,” she said and was about to move forward when Leonel blocked her way.
“You know what . . .” Leonel picked all the snacks in Evie’s tray and forced some of them inside his mouth.
“I’m kind of hungry.” He was already kind of choking from the amount of food he had just stuffed inside his mouth. After hard-swallowing them, he smacked his chest to help the food go past his throat.
“Can you get me more of these?”
Evie peered at Leonel under her lashes, making the latter sweat from her suspicious stare.
“I guess,” Evie said after fifteen seconds, making Leonel sigh in relief.
“I’ll get you a drink as well,” she added.
Evie was about to go her way when they heard a sickeningly sweet voice from behind.
“Evie? What are you doing here?”
Leonel silently cried inside. Of course, Saya had just got to notice Evie.
There was surprise registered in Evie’s eyes before they found their calm.
She answered in an even voice, “The restaurant I’m working for catered some of the menu at the party.”
“Is that so?” Saya smiled the brightest she could, pointing her fingers to her chin.
Mischief glinted in her eyes. “Ren is also here, but he’s fetching me a drink.”
“. . .” Even someone dense like Leonel could feel that there was an invincible spark between the two women, and he was at the center of such a dangerous battle.
Leonel didn’t breathe as he waited for Evie’s answer. There was something about the situation that made him feel suffocated.
