177 [BONUS] First PvP
BONUS Chapter 2/3
—–
“Should we clear dungeons and get firstblood or something?”
“Getting firstblood in this short amount of time wouldn’t cut it. It’s only a matter of weeks before the Guild War starts. Unless we can get five firstbloods in that short amount of time enough to make our names rang in their mouths. But it’s more dangerous that way since getting firstblood meant getting items. And those items might do us harm than good.”
Leonel took a large breath and released it through his nose in one blow. “So our option is limited?”
“Right now. Since all everyone talks about is the war.”
“Then what should we do?” Leonel bit his thumb, worry thick in his voice, “I need money to make up for those thousands I lost in the restaurant.”
“Who told you to treat those rich people?”
“It’s because I thought they only eat pasta and bread. Who knows that they ordered a lot before we even arrived?”
“Serves you right.”
Leonel scratched his head and grumbled. “Should we go elsewhere, then?”
“. . .” Ren didn’t comment.
There was a short silence before he said, “I guess we have no choice but offer our services . . . for free.”
“WHAT?!” Leonel stood from where he lay in shock and confronted Ren. “What do you mean FREE?”
“Just like what I said.” Ren grinned with an evil glint in his eyes. “But instead of offering them to famous guilds, we’ll help a bottom feeder.”
Leonel’s shoulder slumped, and his back hunched. “I don’t get you.”
Ren laughed evilly. “Imagine those punks’ faces when some random guild with a cottage guild house won? What do you think they would feel about it? Ahahahaha!”
Leonel took a step back from Ren. “Is this revenge when they ignored us? If so, you’re very pity indeed.”
Ren gave a half-shrug. “I don’t care. By the way, Leo . . .”
Ren’s face turned serious all of a sudden. “Duck.”
“Huh?” Was Ren talking about Ducks now?
Instead of answering, Ren pushed Leonel to the side just in time that an arrow struck from where he stood. At the same time, Ren merely took a side step, avoiding multiple arrows his way.
Leonel stumbled on his foot, and he fell on the grass, butt first.
“W-what’s that?” Leonel gulped as he watched the arrows burst into particles, and together, he received a notice on his screen.
[Player 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 attacked you!]
*It’s not their names. Just to simplify things.
You don’t say? Leonel lamented. If not for Ren, those arrows might have landed critical damage on him, and worse, he might have died without knowing how. This PvP was the worse! No wonder a lot of players ranted about it in the comments.
“It looks like we will have our first PvP fight.” Ren chuckled. He wasn’t worried when five players went out from the trees not far from where they were.
“We should have stayed in town.” Leonel stood to his feet and patted his butt. “Five of them and two of us. These things aren’t fair.”
Ren merely cracked his head. “They wanted to make it feel like the real world, so nothing is fair here.”
“Great. I wanted to escape the real world but ended up in the same world. The only difference is that I am short and have a beard and a badass shield.”
“You two, hand over your valuables, or we will force it out from you,” Player one shouted.
Ren looked at the other group. Some were hunters, and some were thieves from the looks of their armor and equipment.
“Leo . . . did you store your items in Arcadia’s Bank like what I told you?” Ren asked.
Leonel scratched his head, and Ren was worried when Leonel thought for a moment before a sly grin tickled his lips.
“Yep. Though it’s expensive, I did what you said.”
“Good.” Now they only need to be worried about the items they were equipping since there was a chance that they could drop them when they died in a PvP. However, that chance was very low since Ren’s LCK was high.
Ren captured the other’s gazes and grinned. “I’m in a good mood today so I will let you guys off. Let’s just say this event didn’t happen, shall we?”
The other five looked at each other before they bent over and laughed.
“Ass****! Who do you think you are?!” Player 2 sneered.
“Bunch of idiots! I think you still don’t know the grave situation you’re in!” Player 3 spat.
Player 4 shook his head and snickered. “Let’s kill them and get their items! You three, steal what you can while we keep them busy!”
Leonel smashed his shield against the ground. “Come then! Just don’t cry if you all lose your equipment when you die.”
Unlike the beasts, monsters, and NPCs, a Tank’s [Aggro on Me] doesn’t work in PvP and other aggro-related skills from other classes. Players could attack anyone, and it was up to the Tank to push them away and protect their damage dealers using their own skills.
“Leo, don’t worry about me,” said Ren and took to the back. His DEF was high and using [Probe], he was confident that the other players weren’t his match. He then cast [Multiattack]. He would end this immediately. He didn’t want to waste any more time playing with the five idiots.
“You two are idiots! You think that you can beat us?” player 1, 2, and 3 all [Blinked] behind Leonel and Ren before simultaneously slashing their dagger for a critical hit and [Steal].
Leonel activated [Side Step] and avoided the attack in time while he slammed his shield against Player 1. The damage wasn’t extensive, but player 1 was sent flying meters away.
At the same time, Ren didn’t even bother defending or avoiding, and players 2 and 3 were smiling in triumph. Their attacks connected against Ren’s back, but the Critical Hit they expected came with only -1 damage.
“What the f****?!”
Ren wasn’t surprised. A Thief’s damage could only amount to so little right now. And with Vulcan’s armor, his DEF was now +90. The Thief’s STR must at least be +70 to damage him enough for him to take a [Health Potion]. Which was impossible in this early game.
“W-what are you?” besides the minuscule damage number, Players 2 and 3 were incredibly baffled that they didn’t steal anything from Ren. This was the first time that this happened after they attacked numerous players.
Usually, players only have low ATPs at the moment, enough for them to PK them and steal their items. It was also the reason why they targeted players who were alone or only traveled in numbers less than theirs.
Ren’s grin sent shivers down their spine and shook their soul in fright. They thought they would turn into ice from how cold they felt.
“Remember this face, Ren the Arcanist. And next time, make sure to carefully chose the players that you want to PK,” said Ren, and bursts of spiritual energy shot from his staff, shooting straight to the two players.
One survived with only a very low HP, while the other instantly tuned into particles.
Player 2 shouted in shock when Player 3 died with just two shots of those weird-looking magical attacks. He scrambled on his feet to get away from Ren, but with a headshot from the latter’s staff, Player 2 evaporated into thin air.
Player 1 shouted when he saw his friends died in just a matter of seconds, and Leonel took that opportunity.
“Hey! Where are you looking?!” Leonel grinned and slashed his hammer down against Player 1. He already chipped off the guy’s HP, so another strike from him was enough to turn Player 1 into particles.
Players 4 and 5 took a step back when they didn’t know what to do. They suddenly found themselves as prey instead of being the predator. Oh, how quickly the tables have turned against them.
Their three friends were all dead in only a matter of seconds. How could that happen?
“What the f****!”
“Who are you two?!”
Leonel smashed the edge of his shield against the ground. “The name’s Leonel, a short Dwarf Defender with a dandy beard. And this is Ren, an Arcanist. My sidekick!”
