Wang Yu and Crotch Lord were under Spring Halo’s [Dark Barrier] as they watched Boson’s [Tornado Slash] swipe up Ming Du’s spells to slam them on the monsters.

Boson’s attacks ended up the same as Wang Yu’s. They had no effect at all as those monsters were just illusions.

“F**k!”

Ming Du scolded as they were a bunch of top-notch experts and yet, they were cheated of skills by these monsters. They were the ones cheating people and yet, they got cheated by them.

Vainglory and Frost Blade, and the rest were also players with quick reactions. They saw how Ming Du and Spring Halo’s skills landed on nothing, they quickly changed their attack targets and charged towards the dozen of monsters who escaped.

The two ladies, Yang Nuo and Ling Longmeng, sent arrows. Six arrows landed on six different monsters but what shocked everyone was that the arrows also shot right through the monsters they reached.

“Damn it, why are these also fake?” Ling Longmeng was stunned.

Logically, the illusions were all near Wang Yu so this ten-odd monsters should be real. How could it be? Could it be that the real ones were those?

At this thought, Ling Longmeng and Yang Nuo lifted their bows and aimed at the rest of the monsters. Vainglory and two Assassins also charged to the front of the monsters, prepared their fists and daggers to be smashed into the monsters.

“Whoosh whoosh whoosh…”

Unsurprisingly, their third round of attacks did not hit anything physical. There was not a single real monster there.

“F*ck, they are all fake! This BOSS is too weak, how embarrassing.”

Seeing how all the skills did not hit anything, Ming Du said, not knowing whether to laugh or to cry.

To these experts, it was embarrassing to have their skills cheated by monsters but now that they confirmed that these monsters were all fake, Ming Du was speechlessly happy.

“Impossible!” Wang Yu said, “They attacked me!”

Wang Yu was bit and the crippled effect was real, so not all these monsters were fake.

“Could these be monster with ghost attributes?” Crotch Lord said with a frown.

Based on the monster introduction, these monsters were souls forced into servitude. Hence, it was highly possible that they were ghost monsters.

“I doubt so. If they were Ghost monster, Old Li, Little Chick and Old Meng’s attacks would have effects,” Boson opposed.

In the settings of <<REBIRTH>>, although ghost monsters were not fearful of physical attacks, they had no defence against spells, especially against Thunder and Light attributes’ spell. These could deadly injure ghost monsters.

However, Ming Du’s spell included all the monsters while Vainglory’s [Shadows Chain Kick] and Ling Longmeng’s [Shadow Bind] both were skills with spell attacks. The three of their skills hit the monsters and yet there was not one bit of damage so it directly overthrew Crotch Lord’s conjecture.

Just as everyone did not know what was going on, the monsters surrounding Wang Yu and the two Guardians had their [Taunting] skill effect removed, and they waved their claws, scratching Crotch Lord and Boson. Wang Yu’s reaction was faster. His legs spun quickly and escaped the monsters’ attacks.

A series of damage on Boson and Crotch Lord appeared above their heads. Although the damage was not high, it brought quite a big shock to them.

Damn it, these monsters became real ones.

“What just happened?”

Seeing how Boson and Crotch Lord were attacked, everyone was stunned. How could there be such shameless monsters who could attack others but could not be attacked by others?

“I know what is going on!” Fearless suddenly yelled from beside Doak when everyone was puzzled.

Fearless was the only one who did not get attacked but he was standing outside the battleground and so, his observations as a bystander were way more detailed.

“What’s going on?” Everyone asked.

“Real or fake, these monsters could be real and could also be fake,” Fearless said.

“F*ck you. Stop beating around the bush. What are you trying to say?” Everyone was annoyed as he was acting wise at such a time.

Fearless said, “Putting it simply, these monsters are hiding in a mirage but they can change their state at any time.”

“Change their state?” Hearing what Fearless said, everyone instantly understood.

Ling Longmeng had a skill called [Mirage Escape] which could summon a phantom. If it was activated again, it could change the real figure into a mirage.

These monsters should have a similar skill and can change between real and phantom states. This way, it could be explained as to why everyone’s skills had no effect.

Damn it, after the skills were sent, those monsters changed their state so no wonder they could not be hit.

“If it is so, how can we deal with them?” Although they knew why they could not hit the monsters, the problem was not resolved.

The skill that allowed the monsters to freely change between their real and mirage states was too powerful. Even if players recognised which was in its real form, it could change anytime…

This way, unless the monsters were so outnumbered and could cover every monster in real and mirage form, there was no way they could hit them. After all, even Wang Yu, a pugilist, had not hit any monster, no one else could have.

Of course, everyone did not know that the King of Beast Dijun’s skill decided the quantity based on the number of enemies, fixed at three times the number of enemies… Hence, the players could never have the advantage of numbers.

By then, Wang Yu was already surrounded by the monsters while the BOSS watched at a side, ready to jump in on him.

This King of Beast Dijun was immune to spells and long-distance physical attacks could only inflict little damage on him. In addition to how he was surrounded by flames, without Wang Yu who could attack him from below, no one else could even come close to the BOSS.

It was no wonder that this weird monster’s quest was S-grade. S-grade quests were indeed unreasonably challenging.

“So, do you want to know the secret?” Doak asked Fearless with a smile.

“Speak!” Fearless nodded.

Doak said, “Before I became a Warrior, I was a beast trainer and so I have studied the King of Beast Dijun. His [Summon] skill is tough to deal with but there is a way to deal with it.”

“What way?”

“The simplest way is to use a True Vision Gem!” Doak said.

“If you spout more rubbish, I will kill you!” Fearless said expressionlessly.

Fearless participated in the beta testing and so naturally, he knew what a True Vision Gem was. It was a special equipment which could probe into invisible units.

The True Vision Gem was different from limestone powder. Limestone powder could only cover invisible units entering the region but the True Vision Gem could allow players to see invisible units. As the monsters were phantoms and not real physical bodies, even if they were marked by limestone powder, there was no point in marking them.

Hence, the True Vision Gem is the bane of Shadow system jobs and Assassins, and thus, its value was as high as a holy weapon. If Fearless had it, would he still need to talk to this lad?

Doak smiled and said, “In this region’s northeast area, there is a pack of Dusk Magical Apes. Male Dusk Magical Apes have a hidden talent called Piercing Eyes which has similar use as the True Vision Gem. If you can tame them, it will be a different story.”
