Chapter 4689: Breaking the Curse
Chapter 4689: Breaking the Curse
Looking at the sheer size of the cave abode, though called a cave, it resembled a small, intricate palace. It was comprised of several smaller cave chambers, each thoughtfully separated. Night pearls illuminated the walls, and a constant flow of fresh air circulated throughout. It was evident there were multiple exits hidden within.
“What are you standing there for? Come over here!” the Azure Emperor gestured for the two younger children to approach.
Muchen and Muyue obediently walked forward, stopping before him and looking up expectantly, unsure of how he intended to break the formidable blood curse.
The Azure Emperor’s gaze swept over the two children standing before him. He reached out and gently checked their pulses, his expression serious and focused. After a moment of careful examination, he stood up and walked towards one of the stone chambers, saying to them, “You two, come with me.”
Seeing this, Muchen and Muyue quickly followed their master. Hao’er instinctively wanted to follow them in to observe, but he was immediately halted.
“There are some books in the first stone cave on the left. Go in and take a look! Don’t follow them in; you won’t be able to help,” the Azure Emperor instructed without turning his head.
Hao’er stopped in his tracks, watching with a mixture of concern and curiosity as Muchen and Muyue disappeared into the stone chamber. Although worry gnawed at him, his master’s words resonated – he wouldn’t be of any assistance inside. With a slight hesitation, he turned and walked towards the first stone cave on the left.
He pushed open the heavy stone door, which groaned audibly as it pivoted on its hinges, and stepped inside. The door swung shut behind him, and in that instant, it felt as though all sounds from the outside world were completely silenced. He glanced around the chamber and noticed that a soundproof barrier had been meticulously erected within. Gathering his thoughts, he walked towards the towering bookshelves that lined the walls.
There were ten rows of bookshelves, each densely packed with books of varying sizes and bindings. He approached the nearest shelf, his fingers trailing along the spines, and picked up a book from the section dedicated to martial arts manuals. He opened it and began to flip through the pages. Upon seeing the contents, a flicker of surprise crossed his face.
This was clearly a top-tier martial arts manual, meticulously organized into different fighting styles based on the five fundamental elements. He continued to browse through it, absorbing the intricate diagrams and detailed descriptions, before carefully placing it back on the shelf and moving towards the back of the chamber to select another book.
The next book he picked up was dedicated to the elegant and deadly art of sword techniques. As he opened it, the detailed illustrations of the various sword stances and movements left him utterly speechless, filled with a sense of profound artistry and exquisite precision. For a fleeting moment, he couldn’t help but become completely and utterly absorbed in the captivating content.
He was so deeply engrossed in deciphering the intricacies of the sword techniques that he completely lost all track of time. As his mind became fully immersed, his hands began to move almost involuntarily, subtly mimicking the fluid motions depicted in the illustrations. He remained lost in this silent practice until the heavy stone door creaked open, and his master stood silhouetted in the doorway.
Startled back to reality, he hurriedly placed the sword manual back on the shelf, quickly walked forward, and asked with a slight tremor in his voice, “Master, how are the two of them?” He glanced behind his master, but Muchen and Muyue were nowhere in sight.
“The blood curse has been broken, but they fainted from the pain and are now sleeping in the next room,” the Azure Emperor said, his hands clasped behind his back. His face appeared a little paler than before, as if the arduous task of breaking the blood curse had significantly depleted his spiritual energy. The unmistakable signs of exhaustion were etched between his eyebrows.
“Master, how are you? Are you alright? Do you need to rest for a while? I’ll get you a glass of water,” Hao’er said quickly, also noticing his master’s slightly pallid complexion. He hurried over to the stone table outside the chamber, poured a glass of water, and brought it to him.
The Azure Emperor glanced at him, but did not refuse the offered water. Instead, he reached out, took the cup, drank its contents in a few swallows, and handed the empty cup back to Hao’er, saying, “Don’t worry about the two of them. The blood curse has been broken. Let them sleep; they will be fine tomorrow. Go check on them! But don’t wake them up. I need to rest as well.” With that, he didn’t wait for Hao’er to respond and walked towards another silent stone room.
