Mesmerizing Ghost Doctor

Chapter 4673: Found

Chapter 4673: Found

It was indeed an underground palace. As Feng Jiu descended the stone stairs, faint sounds drifted from the depths within. Lining both sides of the descending passage, clusters of eerie green ghostly flames flickered, casting an unsettling illumination on the path below. The spectral green glow added an eerie atmosphere to the place.

The ghostly flames danced with an unseen current, and a subtle flow of air stirred the stillness. It was clear that this underground palace possessed more than a single entrance and exit, suggesting a connection to the outside world somewhere within its depths. Surprisingly, upon entering, Feng Jiu encountered not a single demon in the initial passage. She continued along the dimly lit path and soon discovered that the underground passage opened into a vast mountain hollow. On the far side of this cavernous space, a large congregation of demons had gathered.

Feng Jiu positioned herself close to the cool stone wall, subtly turning her head to observe the flickering ghostly flames ahead, the source of the muffled sounds she had initially heard. As her eyes adjusted to the eerie light, the scene before her came into sharp focus. Approximately a hundred demonic beings of various grotesque shapes and sizes milled about. In the very center of this unsettling assembly, two figures hung suspended upside down. There was no mistaking them: Du Fan and Leng Hua.

Seeing her companions seemingly unconscious and dangling precariously at the mercy of these demonic creatures, a surge of protective anger coursed through Feng Jiu. Her gaze swept across the assembled demons, finally settling on two imposing figures standing slightly apart from the main throng.

One was a female demon, her features heavily made up, exuding a seductive yet sinister aura. Her demonic energy was undeniably potent, a palpable force in the cavernous space. Beyond her alluring and captivating appearance, the sheer intensity of her demonic energy was difficult to ignore.

The figure beside her possessed a face that was strangely obscured, as if veiled by a perpetual layer of mist. Despite this visual ambiguity, the raw power of the demonic energy radiating from his body was undeniable. It was immediately apparent to Feng Jiu that these two must be the Demon King and Demon Queen mentioned by the terrified tree demon.

As she mentally strategized a plan to rescue Du Fan and Leng Hua, a distinct voice echoed from within the gathered demons.

“Why did you bring these two back?” the voice, tinged with worry, resonated through the cavern. “They are under the command of that Ghost Doctor, Feng Jiu. If she discovers that you have captured them, she will undoubtedly come looking for us. Won’t that just invite unnecessary trouble?” The Demon King, his gaze fixed on the two cultivators hanging upside down, addressed the demon queen beside him. “Let them go! Pretend you never saw them here.”

Upon hearing this, the Demon Queen slowly raised her heavily lashed eyes, casting a seductive yet calculating glance at the Demon King. “Let them go?” she purred, her voice laced with a dangerous nonchalance. “Don’t forget the instructions from the immortal above – they specifically said to get rid of them. If we simply release them, how will we explain our failure?”

She paused, idly toying with her long, bright red fingernails, her gaze sharp and unwavering. “Besides,” she continued, her tone hardening, “if we let them go, those immortals certainly won’t let us off the hook. Not to mention the promises they made – they assured us that if we complete this task, we will receive a significant reward.”

The Demon King scoffed, his obscured features conveying his disdain. “Hmph! How can you possibly take what those beings say seriously? In my opinion, they merely seek to use that ghost doctor, Feng Jiu, to bring about the destruction of our demon clan. Why else would they send these two here, instead of anywhere else? Is Feng Jiu someone you can afford to provoke? She is the Sovereign Ruler! Even the Devil Lord himself fought her and ultimately lost his soul. We are nowhere near as powerful as the Devil Lord, and she has shown no interest in fighting us. Why on earth would we invite her wrath?”

The Demon King’s voice was cold and firm as he reiterated his command, his gaze flicking between Du Fan and Leng Hua before settling back on the Demon Queen. “Let them go. Just allow them to leave this place as quickly as possible.”

The Demon Queen shot him a sidelong glance, a hint of mockery in her crimson eyes. “Why is it that you fear no one else, yet you tremble at the mere mention of Feng Jiu?”
