Chapter 747 - Guan Jinhau, The Scapegoat
Chapter 747: Guan Jinhau, The Scapegoat
Guan Jinhau was fast. Really fast! However, it was this lightning speed of his that almost killed him.
The man did not have an internal energy shield to protect him. As such, he was taking on these spatial runes with his own body. In other words, there was no way he could break through these.
Thus, his body was cut open.
Fortunately for him, the dimensional rifts did not cause any fatal wounds on him. Still, a piece of skin was sliced off from his scalp; one of his arms was cut and dislocated, leaving only a few threads of flesh and muscles connecting his arms and shoulders; his stomach was pierced while his gut was mostly crushed.
There was another dimensional rift about ten centimeters away from him, dangling right at his throat. If he did not stop in time, it would have definitely beheaded him in a matter of seconds.
“Ugh… Warghh!!”
Guan Jinhau threw out blood briefly before taking out medicines from his pocket dimension and swallowed them down.
He did not dare to move an inch now—there were plenty of spatial runes around him. Qin Feng’s saber was already sitting on his shoulder. Due to the saber’s powers, his combat suit and armor were already burning wildly. Even his cape was crackling loudly against the wind. This cape was a Sacred Armor tier equipment; and it was now on the verge of breaking down!
“Guan Jinhau. Perhaps you would like to give up the Phantom Shift now?” Qin Feng asked.
Guan Jinhau swallowed his saliva bitterly. “So… you mean… you’re not going to kill me?”
After all, they both did not know each other. And right now, if Qin Feng swiped his saber just a little more to the left, Guan Jinhau was as good as dead.
At the same time, Qin Feng did not really think of killing Guan Jinhau. Even though the man was a member of the Dark Coalition, Guan Jinhau had never killed innocent civilians. Many of his prey were high-tiered ability users that were not part of the Huaxia Alliance. Not only that, he was also famous for collecting bounties for the criminals from the Dark Coalition from all over the world.
Therefore, Qin Feng was not going to kill him.
“Come on, man. You know that you don’t have a choice though, right?”
Qin Feng added one more sentence and then waited. He wanted Guan Jinhau to decide his own fate.
Meanwhile, Guan Jinhau was struggling with his inner thoughts too. Qin Feng seemed to not be releasing any murderous intent. This meant that he could escape and fight another day. And… he could lie about the training methods of his Phantom Shift, resulting in Qin Feng being crippled from learning the qinggong.
Suddenly, a voice crept into his ears.
“Look at me!”
Instinctively, Guan Jinhau raised his head and saw a pair of eyes staring at him. They seemed so surreal, as though they held an entire galaxy in them. The person’s face was as beautiful as a goddess, yet now all that Guan Jinhau could do was stare at that pair of eyes with all his attention and consciousness.
These eyes belonged to Bai Li.
“Tell me the methods in learning and training the Phantom Shift.” Bai Li ordered.
Then, Guan Jinhau was startled at what his own body did next—his mouth immediately revealed everything he knew about the Phantom Shift to Qin Feng and Bai Li. At the same time, Qin Feng was listening to and recording the secret techniques of the Phantom Shift. As he was recording, Qin Feng’s eyes were widened in joy, like a scientist who had discovered the answer to a problem.
After all, Qin Feng had learned Disorienting Steps before and tried to improve it. However, he was not researching the right way, making it impossible for him to invent his own Phantom Shift.
Right now, Qin Feng finally understood how the Phantom Shift worked. And that was not all… there seemed to be some secret behind this unique qinggong too.
“So, the Phantom Shift can be powered with my Phantom Cape, which could infuse shadowy powers to me that would allow me to hide within the shadows…”
Guan Jinhau was struggling in taking back control of his body as his mouth kept spewing out all of his secrets. If he could, he wanted to bite his tongue and make himself mute forever, but it was too late. He could not imagine just how powerless he would become if Qin Feng were to take his Phantom Cape.
A few moments later, Qin Feng already got whatever he wanted from Guan Jinhau. Not wanting to waste her conscious energy any further, Bai Li let him go. She even disarmed all her dimensional rifts too.
Seeing this, Qin Feng too put away his Verdant Emperor Saber.
“Thank you. You may go now.”
Guan Jinhau stared at Qin Feng in disbelief. This man, after learning all the secrets of Phantom Shift, did not seem to be interested in taking his Phantom Cape away from him. Not only that, Qin Feng seemed to be satisfied with just knowing the secrets and techniques behind the Phantom Shift.
Guan Jinhau also felt relieved that he did not decide to lie about the learning and training methods of the Phantom Shift. If not, when this silver-haired lady used her weird powers to force him to tell them everything again, they would know that he was lying. And if that were to happen, he might not be able to walk away alive.
Seeing that Qin Feng and Bai Li indeed were letting him go, Guan Jinhau dashed out without hesitation.
Now that Bai Li had disarmed all her spatial powers, when Guan Jinhau dashed out of the room he could feel several overpowering presences around him—there were A-tiers just outside of the room! And there were hundreds of them!
“What the hell?!” Guan Jinhau blurted out before dashing out even faster than before, ignoring that he was already heavily wounded. Nonetheless, right now the most important thing to him was to escape with everything he could—even if this meant that he could be crippled forever.
“Phantom Shift!!!”
In an instant, Guan Jinhau morphed into dozens of mirror images and dashed toward every direction that a clock arm could point at!
Phantom Shift was a technique that utilized a mix of qinggong and spatial runes. This was what made the Phantom Shift so unparalleled compared to other qinggongs.
“He’s out!”
“Kill’em!”
“Stop that piece of sh*t! Don’t let him get away with the beast deity’s core!”
The A-tiers then began to chase after Guan Jinhau!
“It’s not on me! You got the wrong guy!” Guan Jinhau yelled out loudly while trying to run away.
Yet, these people did not believe him. These A-tiers could not see clearly who was the person that ran out; so, they thought that he was Qin Feng. There were only a few keen eyes that could see that it was Guan Jinhau. And… this made matters worse for him.
“That’s Guan Jinhau! He’s a legendary assassin! So, that young man must be dead by now!”
“Yeah, he’s an A-tier assassin. A top-tier killer like him could kill a B-tier ancient warrior without problem!”
“After him! When we catch him, we can divide the loot!”
Thus, the A-tiers were all led away by Guan Jinhau!
Meanwhile, Qin Feng and Bai Li had already teleported to the roof of a random skyscraper and were looking at them from above.
There were a few A-tiers that were wary of what was going on; so, they went into the room to check. Naturally, they could not find Qin Feng there. Thus, they too had joined the chase for Guan Jinhau too.
Of course, Guan Jinhau was not some schmuck that could be caught easily. He knew how to use the S-tier qinggong—”Phantom Shift” after all. As such, he was still able to successfully escape with his life.
“This is great. Guan Jinhau not only gave me his qinggong, he even helped me divert the attention of these hyenas. What a chap!” Qin Feng smiled.
“Teehee! This is what he gets for coming after us. If he did not do this, he would not need to face this fate.”
These A-tiers were able to locate Qin Feng and Bai Li earlier—if Guan Jinhau could find them, it would not be difficult for these people of the same tier to do the same. Yet, they were locked out of the Spatial Lockdown as soon as Guan Jinhau attacked the couple. As such, all these A-tiers could do was wait outside of the room.
At the same time, Bai Li knew how many people were waiting outside the room.
This was why Qin Feng was not that surprised to see what happened after letting Guan Jinhau go.
Still, there was one sharp consciousness that was locking onto Qin Feng and Bai Li.
