Chapter 6666: Little Ling

Chapter 6666: Little Ling

Upon hearing the report, Chu Feng rushed out to welcome Ling Sheng’er.

She was the first friend he had befriended in the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion. He was still small fry then, but Ling Sheng’er, despite being the lofty daughter of the Ling Clan’s Clan Chief, didn’t put on airs in front of him and treated him like a friend.

Due to that, Chu Feng had a really good impression of her.

Ling Sheng’er and the others were brought into a hall, where most of the Chu Clan Alliance’s upper echelon was gathered.

Ling Mo’er and Shuang Yu looked nervous as they weren’t sure how Chu Feng would react to their arrival. In contrast, Ling Sheng’er sat calmly, eating and drinking whatever that was offered to her. Despite being surrounded by foreign faces, she behaved as if she was at home.

“Has someone been starving you?” a familiar voice echoed.

“Chu Feng!!!” Ling Sheng’er hopped up to Chu Feng like a little rabbit. “I miss you so much!”

She lightly punched Chu Feng’s shoulder. Her gesture was brotherly despite looking like an adorable princess.

“You have grown prettier over the years.” Chu Feng pinched Ling Sheng’er’s little face, but not even the distortion of her face could conceal her beauty. If anything, it made her more adorable.

“You have also grown more handsome,” Ling Sheng’er replied as she pushed Chu Feng’s nose until it was compressed like a pig’s snout. She laughed. “Yes, you look much better like that.”

Anyone could tell that they were extremely close.

In contrast, Ling Mo’er and Shuang Yu were extremely reserved. They had become acquainted with Chu Feng at the same time as Ling Sheng’er, but they had chosen to take a different route from Ling Sheng’er. That resulted in their current awkward position.

“Chu Feng, we’re looking to join you. Do you welcome us?” Ling Sheng’er asked while gesturing to the duo behind her.

“Of course,” Chu Feng replied.

Shuang Yu couldn’t hold herself back anymore. She wanted to kneel before Chu Feng and apologize for what she had done back then. “Young master Chu Feng, I...”

Before her knees could hit the ground, Chu Feng grabbed her arm and supported her. “Elder Shuang Yu, I’ve heard about it. You didn’t know who I was back then, and you were helping my grandmother. I won’t blame you for that. The Chu Clan Alliance welcomes you.”

His smile showed that he truly intended to accept Shuang Yu.

Shuang Yu’s body trembled as she wept. In the end, she murmured a reply, “Young master, my life is yours from now on.”

...

“Chu Feng, there’s someone else who wishes to work with you. It’s my grandfather,” Ling Sheng’er told Chu Feng via voice transmission.

She told him about the Ling Clan’s Clan Chief’s intention, and that the latter was waiting for him outside the Ancestral Martial Spiritist Sect’s main city.

Chu Feng trusted Ling Sheng’er, but that didn’t mean that he trusted the Ling Clan’s Clan Chief. So, he brought Little Fishy, Jie Tiannian, Jie Shanxian, and Daoist Starseizer out with him.

Meanwhile, the Ling Clan’s Clan Chief was standing some distance away from the Ancestral Martial Spiritist Sect’s main city. He had pulled out his extravagant warship and was standing on its deck with an air of loftiness.

He was not here to seek refuge but to negotiate a partnership with Chu Feng. Since it was a partnership, he planned to negotiate terms beneficial to the Ling Clan. Thus, he couldn’t lower his posture.

When he sensed a warship approaching, he put on even more airs. He placed his hands behind his back and turned away, as if Chu Feng was the one begging him for a partnership.

“Little Ling, you have finally thought things through.”

The Ling Clan’s Clan Chief was startled. He quickly turned around, only to see Jie Shanxian emerging from Chu Feng’s warship and stepping onto his deck.

Behind Jie Shanxian were Jie Tiannian, Daoist Starseizer, Chu Feng, Little Fishy, Ling Sheng’er, and the others.

“Paying respect to Lord Shanxian!”

The Ling Clan’s Clan Chief fell to his knees and kowtowed to Jie Shanxian. He still harbored deep respect for Jie Shanxian despite knowing that she had lost her cultivation. In fact, he felt another wave of resentment toward Jie Tianran when he saw her once more.

Jie Shanxian had devoted her entire life to protecting the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion, saving it from several major crises, but Jie Tianran plotted against her and caused her to lose her cultivation. She might have even died if not for Chu Feng.

Bitter regret washed over him. He suddenly wondered why he had been so obstinate about standing with Jie Tianran.

“Little Ling, don’t pull this with me. I’ll only ask you one time. Do you intend to join Chu Feng, or do you have an ulterior motive?” Jie Shanxian asked.

“Milord, I came here to pledge loyalty to Chu Feng on behalf of the Ling Clan, so that we can destroy Jie Tianran and avenge you,” the Ling Clan’s Clan Chief said.

Ling Sheng’er and Ling Mo’er were taken aback. That was not what their grandfather had said.

Little did they know that their grandfather didn’t intend this, either. Sometimes, it only took an instant for a person to change their mind. Due to his change of mind, the negotiation between him and Chu Feng went smoothly.

In truth, Chu Feng did not harbor high expectations of the Ling Clan.

They were Jie Tianran’s pawns; their switching sides would not be a turning point for this war. They didn’t even know about the old entity inside Jie Tianran’s body; it was unlikely that they could divulge any essential information that would help him deal with Jie Tianran.

Soon, both sides came to an agreement.

Rather than bringing the Ling Clan into the Ancestral Martial Spiritist Sect’s main city, it was better for them to stay put in the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion. They might be able to better contribute from there.

Chu Feng promised not to kill any Ling Clansmen, though the caveat was that the Ling Clansmen mustn’t kill anyone from the Chu Clan Alliance.

The Ling Clan’s Clan Chief agreed. Even he couldn’t guarantee that everyone from the Ling Clan would be willing to join Chu Feng’s side.

He knew that Jie Tianran had been spreading his influence within the Ling Clan, such that many Ling Clansmen were very loyal to Jie Tianran. Some of them were even serving as Jie Tianran’s spies, providing him with updates about the Ling Clan’s movements.

The Ling Clan’s Clan Chief knew that there was no saving those people.

Ling Sheng’er passed the Ling Clan’s Clan Chief’s communication talisman paper to Chu Feng.

If Chu Feng ever needed the Ling Clan’s Clan Chief’s help, he could relay his instructions over via the talisman paper.

After hashing out the details, the Ling Clan’s Clan Chief began making his way back to the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion. There were many things he needed to do now. First of all, he had to sift out the trustworthy Ling Clansmen and bring them together.

“Lord Jie Shanxian, I’ll be taking my leave.” The Ling Clan’s Clan Chief kowtowed once more.

“You’re leaving already? Even though Chu Feng was magnanimous to let go of the past and take you in, you can’t be so shameless as to accept his goodwill without showing some sincerity, right?” Jie Shanxian said.
