Chapter 68 - 62: Demon Beast with a Skill-Bearing Demon Core
Chapter 68: Chapter 62: Demon Beast with a Skill-Bearing Demon Core
Fang Xiu could finally relax.
Night fell, and Fang Xiu’s group rested for the evening.
The next morning, they prepared to go their separate ways.
"I have other business to attend to, so I’ll be taking my leave!"
Fang Xiu had no intention of hunting Demon Beasts here.
They had spent all of yesterday hunting the larger, higher-Level packs of Demon Beasts.
Fang Xiu had little interest in what was left.
"Leaving already? Then again, it makes sense. With your strength, hunting these Demon Beasts with us must not be very rewarding for you!"
Yesterday, Yuan Heng and the other two had once again witnessed Fang Xiu’s power.
A single Skill was all it took for him to wipe out most of the Demon Beasts.
Any that survived were left heavily injured.
That was the only reason they were able to easily pick up some Points.
"It’s fine. I just want to explore the Seventh Gate World a bit more. After all, there’s still some time before school starts, and I want to get used to life in the Gate Worlds before then!"
What Fang Xiu said wasn’t a lie.
After all, he didn’t know what university life would be like.
If he became familiar enough with the Gate Worlds, he might not even need to attend university.
Of course, that was a matter for another time.
For now, Fang Xiu just wanted to follow Dan Peiyu’s map to the next location.
"That’s true. We only started getting used to the Gate Worlds in college. Later on, our performance couldn’t match the students who’d put in the effort over the summer. We regret that a bit."
Yuan Heng and his group had only recently graduated from university themselves.
Because their performance was average, they didn’t have many good options after graduation. That’s why they formed a party to hunt Demon Beasts and search for treasure in the Gate Worlds.
This way, they could not only make a living but actually live quite prosperously.
This was the advantage of being a Combat Awakener.
Even if their starting Level at their Awakening wasn’t very high.
As they grew stronger, they could rely on their own combat prowess to support themselves—and support themselves well, at that.
"By the way, you guys are pretty familiar with this Gate World. Do you recognize this place?"
Fang Xiu took out his phone and tapped the screen a few times, pulling up a picture.
He had taken a photo of it on his phone. This way, it was convenient to carry and he could look at it whenever he needed.
"This place... it looks a little familiar!"
Yuan Heng stared at the image on Fang Xiu’s phone.
After a moment of thought, he said, "Here... you’re holding it upside down. You’re supposed to look at it the other way around."
"Huh?"
Fang Xiu froze.
’Did I really take the picture of the map upside down?’
"Like this?"
Fang Xiu flipped his phone around.
"Yes, yes, that’s it!"
Lin Huo, who was standing to the side, nodded and said, "To get there, you have to head east. It’s about a two-day journey. There’s a big river over there. Follow it until you get to the third..."
"The fourth one!"
Du Xiwei cut in, interrupting Lin Huo.
"It’s definitely the third one!"
Lin Huo thought for a moment. ’Yeah, it’s the third.’
"No, it’s the fourth! See... like this... that’s two, right? Then you go like this, and turn here... see? The fourth one?"
Du Xiwei drew a quick diagram on the ground with a rock.
Lin Huo looked, then chuckled sheepishly. "Oh... I guess you’re right!"
"The fourth bend? You guys remember it that clearly?"
Fang Xiu was a little curious.
Even if they were familiar with the terrain, remembering it in that much detail meant they were more than just ordinarily familiar with it.
"Because we ran into a Demon Beast there. It was at least Level 30."
Yuan Heng said with a wry smile.
One could only imagine how pathetic they must have looked back then.
"A Level 30 Demon Beast? And you actually managed to escape?"
Fang Xiu was curious.
These were the same people who had been sent screaming and running by a single Level 25 Vermilion-haired Ape.
’How could they possibly have dealt with a Level 30 Demon Beast?’
"Dealt with it? We took one look from a far-off distance and ran for our lives!"
Yuan Heng said helplessly, "But that’s definitely the spot. If you’re going there, be careful!"
"Mm, got it."
Fang Xiu nodded slightly.
He didn’t ask about any other locations.
After all, if he asked too many questions, they might get suspicious.
Fang Xiu wasn’t one to place his absolute trust in anyone.
In this world, men die for wealth just as birds die for food.
Fang Xiu couldn’t be sure that while he was heading to the first location, they wouldn’t go and take the treasure from the second.
One could never be too careful.
"Thanks," Fang Xiu said.
"Don’t mention it. We should be thanking you. We got a huge haul this time. We’re just going to kill a few more Little Demon Beasts and then head out. See you again if we get the chance!"
Yuan Heng was genuinely grateful to Fang Xiu.
After all, if it weren’t for Fang Xiu, they wouldn’t have gotten such a massive haul this time.
"It’s fine. It was mutually beneficial."
Fang Xiu nodded slightly.
Without further delay, he set off toward the east.
It was a two-day journey, after all.
"What a shame, he’s leaving just like that. It would’ve been great if he could have stayed with us for a couple more days!"
Watching Fang Xiu depart, Lin Huo seemed reluctant to see him go. "Too bad no Equipment dropped that was suitable for me!"
"Yeah, but what we gained in one day yesterday is as much as we’d normally make in a whole month in the Seventh Gate World. We should be content!"
Yuan Heng said with a smile.
"I wonder what Level Fang Xiu will be by the next time we see him. He’s such a prodigy. His university life is bound to be incredible!"
Du Xiwei added with a smile.
He had gained the most this time around.
After all, the White Frog Ring had directly boosted his strength by a great deal. He could hunt at least twice as many Demon Beasts as before.
"Yeah, definitely. I’m really looking forward to it!"
Lin Huo nodded slightly.
