Chapter 223: The Upcoming Journey to the Demon Beast Battlefield
After leaving the principal’s house, Fang Xiu and Chu Qingxue were taking a walk outside.
“Do you know when the start date for the Demon Beast Battlefield will be finalized?”
Chu Qingxue suddenly asked.
“I didn’t ask. I’ll make a call and find out now!”
Fang Xiu had actually overlooked that detail.
He was just waiting for the official notice.
If he asked now, he could prepare in advance.
RING RING RING!
Just as Fang Xiu took out his phone, it started ringing.
“Hm?”
Fang Xiu glanced at the caller ID. ‘What a coincidence?’
The caller was none other than Principal Xiang Babang.
Fang Xiu answered the call. “Principal Xiang.”
“Fang Xiu, have you eaten yet?”
Principal Xiang began with a casual greeting.
“I just finished.”
Fang Xiu kept his tone light, treating it as casual chitchat.
‘Principal Xiang must be calling me at this hour for a reason,’ he thought.
“It’s about the Demon Beast Battlefield. We had a lot of applicants, but the selection results are out. Both your name and Chu Qingxue’s are on the list!”
Principal Xiang got straight to the point.
“Thank you, Principal Xiang!”
Fang Xiu expressed his gratitude.
Then he asked, “So when does the Demon Beast Battlefield start?”
“It’ll be a little while. There’s going to be a competition first.”
Principal Xiang explained, “Although the current list is out, it’s just a preliminary result based on our comprehensive evaluation scores. The next step is the competition phase. It will test your actual combat abilities, adaptability, and so on. But I’m sure you’ll have no problem with that.”
Principal Xiang still held Fang Xiu in very high regard.
Others might struggle with this, but Fang Xiu would surely have no issue.
Would a person who dared to kill a Level 40 boss at just Level 15 really be afraid of this competition?
“I see. What’s the format of the competition? Hunting Demon Beasts?”
‘A competition like this most likely involves hunting Demon Beasts,’ Fang Xiu figured.
But some of the details were bound to be different.
“Yes, you’re right. It’s hunting Demon Beasts, but in teams. It’s based on a Points system, with three people per team. You’re free to form your own!”
Principal Xiang was revealing quite a lot of information to Fang Xiu.
“Thank you, Principal Xiang!”
‘This will let me prepare ahead of time.’
‘Three people?’
Suddenly, Fang Xiu thought of someone and asked, “By the way, there’s a student at our school named Luo Xing. I wonder if he was selected?”
“Luo Xing? From Qingzhou City First High School? Let me see!”
Principal Xiang had the list on hand.
He checked for a moment before replying, “Yes, he’s on here. An A Level Archer. According to our comprehensive evaluation, his mental fortitude is good, and he’s received professional training. Pretty decent!”
“Alright.”
Fang Xiu said.
Afterward, he asked Principal Xiang a few more questions and they chatted for a little while longer.
Finally, he hung up.
“How did it go?”
Chu Qingxue asked curiously.
Fang Xiu nodded slightly and recounted everything Principal Xiang had told him to Chu Qingxue.
“A team of three? You want to team up with Luo Xing?”
Chu Qingxue had, of course, heard Fang Xiu mention Luo Xing just now.
‘Is he thinking of teaming up with Luo Xing?’
“Yeah. He’s an A Level Archer, which would be a great asset in battle.”
Fang Xiu nodded slightly.
Of course, that would require both Chu Qingxue and Luo Xing to agree.
“I don’t have any objections. An Archer can play a very useful role in a fight. It’s just… his aim seems a little off!”
Chu Qingxue recalled the day of the Awakening ceremony.
Luo Xing’s performance had been cringeworthy, to say the least.
“Ahem, after these past few months of training, I think he should be able to aim straight by now!”
Fang Xiu said helplessly.
‘Let’s hope Luo Xing has improved.’
If Fang Xiu couldn’t heal his own injuries, he might have considered bringing a healer.
But since Fang Xiu had his own recovery and healing Skills, he didn’t need one.
Adding a tank or a Shooter to the team was a much better fit for him.
“When does it start?”
Chu Qingxue asked.
“We’ll get a notice with the specific time tomorrow.”
Principal Xiang didn’t have the exact time yet.
Everything was still in the planning stages.
They would likely receive the notification tomorrow.
Fang Xiu wasn’t in a hurry anyway.
“Mm, okay!”
Chu Qingxue nodded slightly.
The two of them strolled around for a little while longer.
“It’s getting late. I should be heading back,”
Chu Qingxue said.
It was already ten o’clock at night.
“Okay, I’ll see you home,”
Fang Xiu said with a smile.
“You don’t have a car!”
Chu Qingxue said, smiling.
Fang Xiu: “…”
“How about I give you a ride home instead?”
Chu Qingxue offered again.
“No, it’s fine. My place is nearby. You should head back,”
Fang Xiu said, shaking his head.
‘Looks like I’ll have to buy a car when I get the chance,’ he thought.
“Then I’ll be heading back first!”
Chu Qingxue didn’t press the issue.
After saying goodbye to Fang Xiu, she turned and left.
Watching Chu Qingxue drive away, Fang Xiu smiled to himself.
‘Today turned out to be a pretty good day.’
He then turned a corner, took a short stroll, and returned to his villa.
“Master, you’re back!”
Kajimi was overjoyed to see Fang Xiu return.
She immediately pounced on him.
“Hm? Master, you smell like someone else’s perfume!”
Kajimi eyed Fang Xiu warily.
He paused for a moment, then smiled faintly. “You can tell?”
“Hmph, hmph. Which woman did you go on a date with, Master?”
Kajimi asked, her expression guarded.
“Guess!”
Fang Xiu just smiled, not saying anything more.
“Hmph. Now that Master has a girlfriend, you’re definitely going to neglect Kajimi.”
Kajimi pouted.
Fang Xiu: “…”
“Where did you learn all this weird dialogue? You need to watch less TV.”
