Chapter 458 - 206: Post-war Harvest
Chapter 458: Chapter 206: Post-war Harvest
All the Jackal Wolfman Warriors and all visible treasures were moved outside the city.
Robson watched the Centaur King City burn, his mind already on another matter.
Although the attack had annihilated the Centaur Clan, Robson himself had also suffered heavy losses.
The problem wasn’t external, but internal: his Gnolls, who had overindulged in their bloodlust.
Nearly all of the Jackal Wolfman Warriors registered under Robson had joined the bloodlust storm. A storm created by over ten thousand Jackal Wolfman Warriors was immensely powerful, but the consequences were severe.
Normally, after a bloodlust storm involving a few hundred, the Jackal Wolfman Warriors would need a day or two to recover. A storm of over ten thousand was a different matter entirely.
The entire army—from Tier 3 to Tier 5, regardless of the type of Gnoll—was affected. Any who had joined the storm had not been spared. Now, they were all laid up in the camp, some still unconscious. There weren’t nearly enough Gnoll shamans to treat them all.
Robson had even heard that some Gnoll pups had been accidentally caught up in it and died from the sheer exhaustion.
Because of this, Robson had specifically summoned the Jackal Wolfman Chieftains to ask about the matter.
How would the Jackal Wolfman Chieftains know? In the past, when they entered their battle trance, their numbers had never reached the thousands, and it certainly couldn’t last for a full day. They were usually scattered by the enemy halfway through a fight. After all, once they entered that state, they lost all awareness. To a truly elite force, fighting a mindless army was no different than fighting a pack of wild dogs. But yesterday, for some unknown reason, they had managed to maintain a degree of clarity even in their bloodlust. That was what had caused their combat effectiveness to skyrocket, allowing them to utterly crush the Centaur Clan.
After hearing the Chieftains’ response, Robson nodded. He addressed their confusion by stating it was a gift to the Gnolls from the Great Power. Those chosen by the Great Power, he explained, could gain permanent clarity.
He said this, of course, to solidify his status as Lord Robson in the hearts of the Beastmen. He hadn’t cared much before, but things were different now.
The reason was simple: the combat power these Gnolls had unleashed was too terrifying, so much so that even Robson had to take it seriously. Based on their performance yesterday, even the Holy See’s Holy Temple Knight Order would likely turn and flee.
When the Jackal Wolfman Chieftains heard this, their eyes practically sparkled. In the past, they had speculated that Robson was a Great Power Envoy, but that was just a guess. No one knew the truth.
Now, although Robson hadn’t explicitly said he was a Great Power Envoy, he had claimed that the Great Power would bless his Warriors. If he wasn’t an envoy, what else could he be?
Besides, granting the Gnolls permanent clarity perfectly aligned with the Great Power’s reputation for wisdom, didn’t it?
Several Jackal Wolfman Chieftains wanted to press for more answers, but Robson didn’t entertain their questions. He wasn’t really a Great Power Envoy, after all, and it would be bad if his cover was blown.
Leaving the group of Jackal Wolfman Chieftains, Robson found a quiet spot and began to take stock of his gains.
Although yesterday’s battle had left the Jackal Wolfman Warriors half-crippled, the spoils were considerable.
Putting everything else aside, just look at the materials alone.
Robson’s Soldiers had found a house, one hundred square meters in size, filled to the brim entirely with Magic Crystals!
When Robson first heard the news, he suspected he had misheard. The exchange rate between Magic Crystals and Gold Coins was not low! This one room of Magic Crystals was enough for Lord Robson to build a true city in Affleck. If he lowered his standards a bit, he could even build his own castle.
Besides the Magic Crystals, there were also Gold Coins, the most direct form of wealth.
Unlike other races, the Centaur Clan had never imagined their Royal City would one day be breached, so they had never considered moving their wealth.
The Gold Robson found just lying on the ground amounted to several thousand pounds. Although it wasn’t very pure, after refining, he estimated it would yield around one hundred thousand Gold Coins. And that was only what Robson himself could find; he had no way of getting what he couldn’t.
As for the rest, like cattle and sheep, they were too numerous to count—at least tens of thousands of head.
Robson even found a significant number of horses, over two thousand of them. After all, Centaurs couldn’t possibly raise horses, nor could they ride them.
These were live horses, not meant for slaughter. In the future, when the Affleck Domain annexed the Julian Province, he could directly develop animal husbandry.
These cattle and sheep were enough to solve the impending food crisis caused by the next wave of immigration. Of course, it would be better to find something else for the immigrants. Cattle and sheep were too expensive and not at all cost-effective.
Looking at the spoils his men were cataloging, Robson couldn’t help but marvel. No wonder everyone loved fighting wars of annihilation. Even though the Centaur Royal Court wasn’t a true kingdom, these resources were enough for Robson to double his power!
And this was only the material wealth.
To be honest, Robson himself couldn’t decide what the greatest reward was: the material riches, or the improvement in his soldiers’ quality brought by the Mount & Blade panel.
The number of Centaurs killed this time was a staggering fifty thousand!
Due to the self-detonation of that legendary Centaur, many Centaur Warriors chose to fight to the bitter end. These bags of high-level experience were all claimed by Robson’s Gnolls.
After this battle, every surviving Gnoll reached Tier 4, and the number of Tier 5s had reached a terrifying three thousand!
The Gnolls alone now had three thousand Tier 5s.
The main reason was the sheer number of deaths—of the ten thousand Gnolls, more than four thousand had died.
Besides the Gnolls, the Bear Race Warriors also gained a lot. Their Tier 5s were now a sizable contingent, numbering over eighty, with more than two hundred at Tier 4. The main issue was that the experience requirement for the Bear Race was simply too long. The experience it took for one of them to level up from Tier 4 to Tier 5 was enough to raise a Gnoll all the way to Tier 5.
However, a longer experience bar also meant higher combat power. At the same tier, even humans were no match for a Bear Race Warrior.
Now, Robson had a total of around six thousand Tier 5 non-human Warriors under his command. Achieving such numbers after just one war was enough to make even Robson’s own heart tremble.
Once the inventory was complete, Robson sent word to the Jackal Wolfman Tribe, telling the Jackal Wolfman Chieftains to fill all the vacant slots on the Mount & Blade panel. The Jackal Wolfman Warriors were simply too useful; Robson was already developing a path dependence on them.
During this time, all the non-human races had witnessed Robson’s generosity and the rapid progress of his Warriors. Although each race worshipped a different Great Power, they reached an unprecedented consensus on one thing: Robson was a Great Power Envoy.
Upon hearing this news, all the tribes scrambled to send their own champions to serve under Robson.
Seeing this, Robson was naturally all smiles, and he selected the strongest and fittest among them to enlist.
