Chapter 267 - 36: They Are Simply Superhuman

Chapter 267: Chapter 36: They Are Simply Superhuman

Several miles outside Ancient Dumu Town.

After the Thunderhawk flew off, Robson quickened the army’s pace, covering a distance of hundreds of miles in just a day and a night.

Admittedly, the Ancient Trade Route had been built wide enough to perfectly accommodate Robson’s blitz tactics.

"How are things? Are the Soldiers ready?" Robson looked at Ais.

Ever since Bo Yang had left the army, Ais had taken complete command of the First Regiment.

This was one of the reasons Robson had sent Bo Yang away. No matter how close they were, Bo Yang was still an outsider representing a different family.

It wasn’t a matter of trust. The First Regiment was simply too important to Robson right now; he couldn’t possibly hand over such an army to someone with a different surname.

Nepotism wasn’t always the wrong choice.

"No problems. The men’s morale is high."

Robson nodded.

Robson had been a little worried that the enemy would be prepared, but now, he dismissed the thought.

His vanguard was now only a few miles from Ancient Dumu Town, yet they hadn’t encountered a single enemy. Logically, they should have run into scouts by now.

"If there are no issues, have the Soldiers don their armor and equipment." Robson nodded, then looked toward Knight Commander Elon.

"Knight Commander Elon, I’ll have to trouble you and my Knight Team to break through the enemy’s defensive line at the very outset. That will make it easier for the main army to charge right in."

Knight Commander Elon nodded.

"Rest assured. The Fengman Knight Order will clear the way for you."

Robson said no more. He glanced around and saw that everyone, from nobles to Soldiers, was watching him with fervent eyes.

The Franks were a belligerent people by nature, and these past few days of peace had already started to make some of them antsy.

"Are you all this eager?"

"Sir, we’re just waiting for your order."

The assembled nobles chorused in agreement.

Their morale was high. Robson said no more. He silently drew the Knight’s Sword from his waist and raised it toward Ancient Dumu Town to the north.

"For the King! For the Lord of Dawn!"

"For the King! For the Lord of Dawn! For Fengman!"

"Charge!"

...

That night, in Ancient Dumu Town. The Beastman Camp in the town looked vast, but in reality, many of the barracks were empty, with no soldiers living in them.

Ancient Dumu Town was a landscape of rubble and ruins. It had been ravaged by a routed human army, then plundered by Beastmen, and finally, looted by goblins.

The place bore no resemblance to its former glory. One could only lament that war was truly the most destructive Magic in the world.

The entire town was swallowed by the night, with only a few scattered points of firelight visible in its center.

"Come on, keep drinking, keep drinking!" Goblin Chief Umm raised a crystal-carved wine cup, addressing the other chieftains in the room.

The inside of the house was raucous. Goblins didn’t have many rules; some were sweating so much from drinking that they stripped off their clothes on the spot, baring their chests and bellies.

Umm himself sat on a tiger-skin chair, enjoying the delicacies that had been prepared for Castro and his men.

There was a reason everyone hated goblins. Unlike the more manageable Kobolds, goblins were a chaotic race, utterly incapable of learning from their mistakes.

Castro himself probably never imagined that not long after he left, the entire Beastman Camp would descend into utter chaos.

Umm was dead drunk, to the point where he couldn’t even tell which way was up.

"Huh? What’s that... shaking?"

It was unclear who in the room had spoken first.

What was shaking?

What did ’shaking’ even mean? Umm’s mind was a complete muddle; he had no idea how to react.

"No! It’s horses! Horses are running!"

"Enemies! There’s Cavalry!"

"Enemies? How can that be? How can horses be enemies...?

Don’t... *HIC*... make a fuss over nothing. It’s just a few wild horses, back to the grasslands..." Umm couldn’t even tell what he was saying anymore.

"No! Horses! I hear hoofbeats!"

Finally, Umm began to feel it too—a vibration coming from the earth, as dense as a drumroll.

His many years of combat experience, combined with his own rank as a Silver-tier Extraordinary, finally made Umm snap out of it.

Those were hoofbeats, and on the battlefield, hoofbeats almost always meant enemies.

The instant he realized this, his Battle Aura sobered him up completely.

’There are enemies!’

’How is this possible!’

As one of the rare Silver-tier Extraordinaries among the goblin race, Umm naturally knew more than the others.

Ancient Dumu Town wasn’t completely without aerial reconnaissance. The last time they scouted, the humans had only just left their fortress. How could they have charged over here so suddenly?

Even if Umm was just a goblin, he still had basic common sense.

That was a journey of hundreds of miles. How much time had passed? Did the enemy fly here?

"The enemy is here! Stop fucking sleeping!"

"Get to your posts! Get back to your own tents!" Umm, having come to his senses, roared at the Goblin and Dogman Chiefs in the house.

He couldn’t figure out what was going on with the humans, but Chief Umm knew that if he didn’t do something to change the situation, he was probably done for.

Unfortunately, the crowd was still dazed and confused, and many were still trying to get their friends to drink more.

"Bastards! Sticking with you useless trash will be the death of me!" Chief Umm roared, charging out the door to command the army outside directly.

But as soon as he stepped outside, he was met with the sounds of battle.

"For the King! For Fengman!"

"Humans! The humans are charging!"

"Quick, get your weapons! Where’s the Chieftain? Why is the Chieftain gone?"

Hearing these cries, Chief Umm’s heart sank. He knew this was bad.

As a goblin himself, Chief Umm knew exactly how goblins thought. If he let the situation develop any further, a full-scale rout was inevitable.

"Stop! Where are you going?"

Chief Umm casually grabbed a small goblin who was trying to flee and asked with a frown.

"My lord, my lord! Humans! The human Cavalry!

They’re wearing iron armor! On horseback, they look like giants!"

Seemingly recognizing Chief Umm’s identity, the little goblin immediately cowered in fear.

Chief Umm didn’t say another word. He thrust a palm into the small goblin’s chest, ending its life in an instant.

As a chaotic race, goblin society was a classic hierarchy.

A superior who wanted to kill a subordinate only had to consider whether they had the ability to do so; social repercussions and other factors were completely irrelevant.

"What’s going on?! Why is it so noisy?"

At that moment, the Goblin and Dogman Chiefs, who had been dead drunk, finally started to sober up. They realized the situation seemed dire.

"So you’ve finally decided to wake up! The humans are raiding the camp!

Now get out there and organize your subordinates for defense!" Chief Umm roared at the other chieftains, who still reeked of alcohol.
