Lord: I Grind EXP with Warband Panel

Chapter 221 - 3: Extraordinary Soldiers

Chapter 221: Chapter 3: Extraordinary Soldiers

’It really wasn’t that hard.’

To Valentino’s astonishment, Robson stood back up after only an hour or two.

This fighting qi couldn’t remain in the body for long. If it lingered, it would slowly corrode the meridians. By then, not even the Lord of Dawn himself could do anything but escort him to the Celestial Kingdom.

"Are you sure you’ll be alright?" Valentino was still amazed. ’Even if he’s a fast learner, this is just too fast.’

"Don’t worry."

Robson glanced at the entry-level guidance technique on his Mount & Blade panel.

’Whatever the case, I’ve learned it now.’

These Soldiers couldn’t wait until morning; their bodies wouldn’t hold out that long.

For some reason, Robson was struck by the absurd feeling that he had suddenly become a doctor.

Robson placed his hand on one of the Frankish Border Watchers. As he released his silver-white fighting qi, the chaotic energy in the Soldier’s body reacted just as it had before, swirling around Robson’s own qi like a child returning home.

This significantly eased the pressure on Robson.

From what Robson understood, the most difficult part of the guidance technique was getting the energy in another person’s body to follow his lead.

After all, it was someone else’s fighting qi, different from the guide’s. In these situations, an elder who cultivated the same element or the same Cultivation Technique would typically perform the guidance.

The difference in their fighting qi would be minimal, making it easier for the recipient’s body to accept energy derived from the same Cultivation Technique.

’But... these Soldiers don’t have a Cultivation Technique!’ The thought suddenly struck Robson.

Robson recalled that his own fighting qi had been silver-white from the very beginning.

Silver-white fighting qi was usually found in Holy Knights, but he, Robson, had never practiced any Holy Knight’s Cultivation Technique!

There was another possibility: a Saint could create their own Cultivation Technique, thereby producing silver-white Holy Fighting Qi.

But...

As for Robson, the most he ever mentioned the Lord of Dawn was when swearing oaths. He rarely even invoked the old man’s name when shouting a battle cry.

’If my level of faith could make me a Saint, then anyone in this world could be one.’

Since both he and the Soldiers possessed silver-white fighting qi, the reason was actually quite obvious.

’The Mount & Blade system...’ That was the most direct link between him and his Soldiers.

This, however, ventured into a blind spot in Robson’s knowledge. To be honest, he had never figured out what this Mount & Blade system even was.

When he first transmigrated to this world, the damn thing had always been with him—or more accurately, in his soul, as if it were innate.

Robson shook his head, clearing his mind of all these stray thoughts.

’It’s pointless to think about this now. I can’t get rid of the Mount & Blade system, so I might as well just use it. Overthinking it will only cause more problems.’

Robson had always believed in the saying "whatever exists is rational." One day, he would surely pull the veil off these strange phenomena and see them for what they truly were.

Robson looked at the Soldier in front of him. This was what mattered most right now.

Since the fighting qi was so docile, it actually saved Robson a great deal of effort. Now, he just needed to guide the energy to the Soldiers’ abdomens and help them cultivate a Life Seed.

Robson thought the process would be over quickly, but an unexpected problem soon arose.

This Soldier had no embryonic Life Seed in his abdomen whatsoever!

In other words, this Soldier had no actual Extraordinary talent!

’That’s very strange. If they don’t have Extraordinary talent, how can these Soldiers produce fighting qi?’

After all, when they ate the Magical Beast Meat, they absorbed chaotic energy! How could chaotic energy possibly transform into fighting qi by itself?

Now Robson faced a serious problem. Without an embryonic Life Seed, how was he supposed to cultivate one for this Soldier?

If he couldn’t cultivate a Life Seed for the Soldier, the fighting qi in the man’s body would slowly seep into his blood, and then he would truly be beyond saving.

Robson frowned. ’If they can convert chaotic energy into fighting qi, there must be a Life Seed or some similar force at work inside their bodies.’

Robson probed cautiously and discovered that although the Soldier had no Life Seed in his abdomen to receive the fighting qi, his meridians were radiating an immense life force.

’A Life Seed can’t be in the meridians, can it?’

This reminded Robson of the so-called acupoints from traditional Chinese medicine in his past life.

The people of this world, at least externally, looked no different from the humans of his previous life.

With that in mind, Robson began to guide the fighting qi through the Soldier’s various acupoints.

It actually worked! Robson was somewhat stunned.

As Robson guided the fighting qi through the Soldier’s acupoints, the energy settled within them before merging into his blood. The acupoints the qi had passed through slowly began to emit a remarkable life force. To be precise, each acupoint turned into a miniature Life Seed and started producing fighting qi.

This new fighting qi was faint—so faint that even a Golden Tier master like Robson could easily overlook it. If every acupoint was like this, then even if Robson exhausted all of his own fighting qi, the total amount produced by the Warrior’s body wouldn’t be comparable to that from a single Bronze First Tier Life Seed.

Besides, even if his acupoints could produce fighting qi, he wouldn’t be able to cultivate it. There were no Cultivation Techniques on the market designed for acupoints.

But... this Soldier never had a Life Seed to begin with!

He was never supposed to be able to cultivate! He shouldn’t have been able to produce fighting qi! His body was destined for a mortal life.

But now, he had!

One had to understand that Robson’s Tier Six Soldiers were all at the peak of what a mortal could achieve, their skills sublime. In a world without Magic, you could call them humanoid mechs.

Tier Six Soldiers were capable of fighting against the Extraordinary with their mortal bodies. With comparable equipment, two or three of them fighting together could even wear down a Bronze First or Second Tier opponent to death.

If these Soldiers could possess fighting qi, they wouldn’t be much weaker than a Bronze First Tier. They might even be able to single-handedly defeat a Bronze First Tier by relying on their superior combat prowess!

Most importantly, these Soldiers had no innate Extraordinary talent, yet they were able to become Extraordinary.

This "Extraordinary" status might be questionable—a weaker form of it—but even a weaker form of Extraordinary is still Extraordinary!

If the Mount & Blade system could turn ordinary Soldiers into Extraordinary ones, then he, Lord Robson, would possess the ability to mass-produce the Extraordinary!

This was incredibly important. In this world, Extraordinary talent was an extremely precious commodity—if not quite one in a thousand, then not far from it.

Why was the rule of the nobility in this world so stable? Because after generations of intermarriage, the probability of an Extraordinary individual appearing among the nobles was on a completely different level from that of commoners. It was a demarcation at the very level of life itself.

The more Robson thought about it, the more terrifying the implications seemed. After finishing his work on the first Soldier, he hurried over to another, only to find the exact same situation!

...

After some work, the two men’s energies finally stabilized.

"Are they all better?" Valentino asked curiously.

"More or less," Robson said.

He said that not just because the chaotic energy in the Soldiers had dissipated, but because of what he saw on his Mount & Blade panel.

"Bronze .2 Frankish Honored Longbowman (0/50,000)."

The number at the end left Robson stunned. ’Fifty thousand experience points... How much killing would it take to level up? Even he, Lord Robson, had only needed a few tens of thousands of points to reach Golden Eighth Tier.’

Of course, Robson’s experience gain couldn’t be compared to that of these Soldiers.

When Robson killed a goblin, the system awarded him a mere 0.0002 experience. By contrast, a Tier Six Soldier was worth over 20, and a Tier One Peasant was a full 100+. This was why ’war experience’, which he’d previously ignored, had suddenly become a significant part of his overall experience gain. His greatest source of experience was still killing enemies, though—a single Silver-ranked foe was worth over 200.

Then again, this matched the difficulty ordinary people faced when trying to level up. After all, they didn’t have a Life Seed.

What really caught Robson’s eye, however, was the word "Bronze" at the beginning of the line.

’Can these weaker Extraordinary individuals still advance in tier?’

’Bronze, then Silver?’

Robson didn’t know.

"My... my lord."
