Chapter 54: Tier 2! Profound Soaring Spirit Rice!
Chapter 54: Chapter 54: Tier 2! Profound Soaring Spirit Rice!
"Forty-eight catties?"
Hearing this, Song Yunxi strode forward, snatched the scale from Mei Hua’s hands, and weighed it himself.
Only when the mark settled squarely on forty-eight catties did he slowly raise his head, staring in disbelief at the smiling Chen Mo beside him.
"A twenty-to-one ratio?"
Chen Mo gave a slight nod.
The exact amount of Spirit Rice and the resulting weight of the seeds were laid out plainly before him. There was little point in hiding such a large yield of seeds. His five acres of Spirit Field only required about one and a half catties of seeds to plant, so he would have to sell the excess to Song Yunxi sooner or later.
Song Yunxi gulped hard. A seed yield ratio of twenty to one for Spirit Yellow Rice—what kind of concept was this? He thought, "I’m afraid only a Great Success Crossing Skill could achieve such a high success rate!"
Just as Chen Mo was calculating how much Spiritual Sand forty-eight catties of seeds would fetch, Song Yunxi suddenly took out a package sewn from white silk from his Storage Ring. He placed the package on the table. As he gently unfolded it, a refreshing fragrance instantly wafted over.
Chen Mo followed his gaze and saw thumb-sized "seeds" that resembled grains of rice.
Without waiting for him to ask, Song Yunxi offered an explanation. "This is Tier Two Spirit Rice—Profound Soaring Spirit Rice. It can only be planted in a Spirit Field of Tier Two or above. In the entire Purple Cloud Peak, only the Spirit Fields in the three Marketplaces of Ancient Profound, Jue Ridge, and Yunhe grow this type of Spirit Rice."
Chen Mo frowned slightly, faintly guessing his intention.
"The yield per acre for Profound Soaring Spirit Rice is roughly around one hundred catties. If it isn’t tended to properly, the production will drop drastically," Song Yunxi continued to explain. "Brother Chen, did you know? Generally, the second-generation disciples and above in Purple Cloud Peak consume Tier Two Profound Soaring Spirit Rice. Tier One Spirit Yellow Rice is only eaten in the Marketplace and by disciples of the third generation and below."
"Brother Song, why are you telling me this..."
The other man reached out, scooped up a handful of Profound Soaring Spirit Rice, and went on. "There are exactly ten catties here. I bought it for ten taels of Spiritual Sand."
"Ten taels?"
Chen Mo looked at the bag of Spirit Rice on the table. Spirit Yellow Rice was only one tael for ten catties, but this Tier Two Profound Soaring Spirit Rice was actually ten times that price!
Planting an acre of Spirit Yellow Rice—excluding the Increased Production Talent—would yield two hundred catties of Spirit Rice, valued at twenty taels of Spiritual Sand. However, planting an acre of Profound Soaring Spirit Rice would yield one hundred catties worth one hundred taels of Spiritual Sand!
Even though the yield was lower, the value was plain to see!
"That’s right," Song Yunxi nodded. "An acre of Profound Soaring Spirit Rice requires about one catty of Spirit Seed. Can you guess the price of its seeds?"
Chen Mo thought, "Guess? Why would I need to guess? The normal price for one catty of Spirit Yellow Rice seeds is five taels..." He pondered for a moment before answering, "Thirty taels?"
"Wrong! At least fifty taels! Sometimes it can even sell for up to eighty taels!"
"How is that possible!" Chen Mo was in disbelief. If that were truly the case, with the seed price being so high, who would dare to plant Tier Two Profound Soaring Spirit Rice?
"If you knew the seed yield ratio for Profound Soaring Spirit Rice, you wouldn’t say that." As Song Yunxi spoke, he poured the bag of Spirit Rice onto the table, pointed at it, and said, "Brother Chen, how about you give it a try?"
"Breeding?"
Song Yunxi nodded.
Chen Mo took a step forward and placed his hand on the Spirit Rice. Just as he was preparing to use the Qi Crossing Technique, Song Yunxi explained from the side, "For Tier Two Profound Soaring Spirit Rice, one needs at least a Minor Achievement in the Qi Crossing Technique for Breeding. Its seed yield ratio is generally around..."
Before Song Yunxi could finish his sentence, Chen Mo instantly pulled his hand back.
He thought, "Minor Achievement? My Qi Crossing Technique is merely at Mastery! The only reason my seed yield ratio is so high is entirely due to the influence of my Breeding Talent! If what Song Yunxi said is true and a Minor Achievement is required for Breeding, doesn’t that mean my chances of success are practically zero?"
"What’s wrong, Brother Chen?" Song Yunxi looked somewhat puzzled.
"I wouldn’t dare lightly try my hand at such a precious item!"
"What are you saying, Brother Chen? How could I care about this little bit of Spiritual Sand?"
Chen Mo shook his head. "What is the typical seed yield ratio for a Breeder with a Minor Achievement in the Qi Crossing Technique?"
"Fifty to one!"
"Fifty to one?"
"Right! That is to say, if you want to breed Tier Two Profound Soaring Spirit Rice, you need a Qi Crossing Technique at the Great Success Stage just to turn a profit. Even then, the yield ratio is only around thirty to forty to one." Song Yunxi pointed at the Spirit Rice on the table. "Brother Chen, why don’t you try? Seeing that your yield ratio for Spirit Yellow Rice has reached twenty to one, your Qi Crossing Technique must have already reached Great Success. Why not give it a shot?"
He truly never expected to stumble upon such a treasure! A Breeder with a Great Success Crossing Skill would definitely be treated as an honored guest, even by the Peak Master of the Ancient Dust Marketplace. To think that the Spirit Plant Cultivator he had occasionally run into in the past was actually a hidden expert!
Song Yunxi realized, "No! According to his own words, he possesses a Talent in Breeding that ordinary people simply cannot match!"
Chen Mo calculated in his mind, "Great Success yields thirty to forty to one. Ten catties of Spirit Rice can probably breed about three taels of seeds. Minor Achievement in the Qi Crossing Technique is fifty to one. Factoring in my Talent, that would be around four taels..."
He weighed his options, pondering how to maximize his profits. After a moment, he finally spoke up. "Brother Song, how about this? Profound Soaring Spirit Rice is still too precious. Why don’t we try it after I finish converting the six hundred catties of Spirit Rice I brought into Spirit Seeds?"
"Of course. Whatever Brother Chen says!" Song Yunxi agreed very straightforwardly.
After all, Chen Mo was the Breeder! What was more, a Breeder in the Great Success Realm must be given the utmost respect!
Mei Hua cleverly carried over the six hundred catties of Spirit Rice that had been stored in the shop. Chen Mo originally intended to temporarily return the Profound Soaring Spirit Rice held in the white silk, but Song Yunxi simply waved his hand. "Just leave it here!"
With that, he walked out without looking back. This was a show of trust in Chen Mo, as well as a tactic to deepen the relationship between them.
After Song Yunxi and Mei Hua left, Chen Mo tied up the White Silk Bag and set it aside along with the Spirit Yellow Rice seeds. He then resumed his Breeding.
[Qi Crossing Technique +1]
[Qi Crossing Technique +1]
After consuming over four hundred and thirty catties of Spirit Rice, his Qi Crossing Technique leveled up once again!
...
[Qi Crossing Technique (Minor Achievement): 1/800]
...
[Breeding (Purple): Draw the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi into the seeds of all living things, allowing life to be nurtured within. On the day when all things sprout, life will burst forth. This method can be integrated into Qi Crossing Magic, increasing Breeding success rate by 200%. (Already fused with the Qi Crossing Technique. During casting, one can independently choose whether to integrate it. When this method levels up, the Talent also levels up.)]
"Two hundred?" Looking at the panel before him, Chen Mo was stunned.
He originally thought the success rate would only increase to a maximum of 150%. He never expected it to actually reach 200%!
Without factoring in his Talent, every one hundred catties of Spirit Yellow Rice yielded three catties and three taels of seeds. Now, it directly reached ten catties! Which meant a ratio of ten to one!
What a terrifying Talent!
A premonition struck Chen Mo. Even if he stopped farming and just worked quietly as a Breeder, he could still make a massive fortune. He wouldn’t have to worry at all about lacking resources for cultivation!
Then again, in this day and age, who would ever complain about having too many resources?
A single Storage Ring alone cost five Low Grade Spirit Stones!
