Chapter 1439: Chapter 5: Fated Calamity (Part 1)
Yunshen Plain, once a lush grassland, has been shrouded in a heavy aura of slaughter ever since the war between the Netherworld Lord and the Xi Clan erupted.
The sky is dark, as if countless dark clouds are looming, and occasionally, numerous thunderbolts flash across the sky.
These are not magic, but rather the result of magic power and fighting spirit clashing with each other.
Yun Sheng stared intently, seeing one hundred thousand divine soldiers and generals embroiled in a life-and-death battle with the Netherworld’s Netherworld Guards.
This battle, driven by the selfish desires of Xi Sanqian and the High Priest, is certain to plunge the Ancient Divine Race’s Xi Clan, with its history spanning tens of thousands of years, into chaos.
She saw Mingri transforming into a streak of flowing light, charging towards the Xi Clan’s forbidden realm, where two or three familiar auras lingered.
One of the auras belonged to Bo Bo, and another was the High Priest...
In the sky, two powerful auras, one black and one gray, frequently collided.
They were Ye Beiming and Xi Sanqian.
Divine weapons occasionally fell from the sky, and the entire battlefield resembled a Shura hell, littered with severed limbs.
Yun Sheng worried about her daughter being frightened, so she dared not enter the battlefield.
"Ling Yue, mother needs to go ahead to find your father, you must stay here for now. Remember, do not leave the magic array mother has drawn for you. If anything urgent happens, use the Heavenly Destiny Mirror; an uncle inside will protect you. Whether or not I find your father, I’ll return within three days." Yun Sheng looked at the increasingly intense battle ahead, her heart tightly clenched.
Yun Sheng created a magic array to ensure Little Ling Yue’s safety, along with leaving the Heavenly Destiny Mirror and enough food to last Ye Lingyue three days.
This magic array could conceal Little Ling Yue’s aura, ensuring she wouldn’t be discovered as long as she didn’t step out of it.
"Mother, Ling Yue will behave, waiting for you and father to return." Little Ling Yue watched her mother leave and obediently stayed put.
A day passed, yet the sky’s killing continued, and her parents still hadn’t returned.
Little Ling Yue lost her appetite. Though she didn’t know exactly what happened, she had a vague sense that her parents were in trouble and must stay put, not causing them additional burden.
At this moment, two figures appeared in the battlefield ahead, one big and one small.
The larger figure was a blood-soaked woman holding a six or seven-year-old boy, who was also injured, with blood covering his face.
The woman was severely injured and hadn’t even reached the magic array before she staggered and fell, the young boy tumbling down with her.
"Mother, what’s wrong?" The young boy, also injured, struggled to get up and moved toward the fallen woman.
Little Ling Yue, having practiced medicine with her mother since young, instinctively wanted to help upon seeing this, but as she was about to step out of the magic array, light flickered in the Heavenly Destiny Mirror, and a man appeared.
"Little Ling Yue, don’t." Ji Ru Mo revealed his form.
Ji Ru Mo was not heartless, under normal circumstances, he would’ve let Little Ling Yue help. However, this was no usual situation.
The timing was wrong, and the place was wrong.
This was within the Divine Fall Plain, with the Xi Clan’s territory ahead, where Xi Clan and the Netherworld Lord were engaged in a mortal battle. This mother and child were clearly Xi Clan inhabitants.
Moreover, the boy’s appearance was handsome, and the clothing on the woman indicated she wasn’t an ordinary person.
Ji Ru Mo couldn’t guarantee they wouldn’t harm Little Ling Yue.
Since Yun Sheng asked him to stay by Ling Yue’s side, even the slightest threat wouldn’t allow him to let Little Ling Yue step out of the magic array.
"But Uncle Ru Mo... they look so pitiful, that woman, she’s going to die." Little Ling Yue said sympathetically, looking at the mother and child.
Following her mother around, she’d seen many patients; the woman seemed to have been wounded by powerful magic, had traveled a long way, and couldn’t hold on.
"Little Ling Yue, life and death are destined, her fate is as such." Ji Ru Mo’s gaze lingered on the young boy for some reason, giving him an ominous feeling.
A vague scene manifested in Ji Ru Mo’s mind.
"Xi Jiuye, if I, Ye Lingyue, have a next life, you will pay your blood debt."
The despairing, empty-eyed woman plunged into a cliff of a thousand zhang.
The image of that woman overlapped with Little Ling Yue.
Ji Ru Mo’s heart suddenly trembled, and the image vanished.
Ji Ru Mo felt impulsive; he wanted to take Little Ling Yue away, far from the young boy.
He had a strong premonition the boy would bring misfortune to Little Ling Yue.
But Little Ling Yue, not heeding Ji Ru Mo, continued watching the mother and child ahead.
On the desolate Divine Fall Plain, the young boy struggled to crawl next to his mother.
"Jiuye... Mother can’t go on, remember, you must live well, don’t seek revenge. All of this, is your father’s fault." The woman opened her eyes with difficulty, raised her hand and touched her son’s face.
Her eyes were full of sorrow; if not for her husband’s power greed, their family of three would’ve been happy...
Unfortunately, it’s all too late.
Before she finished, the woman struggled to breathe, hand dropping to the ground, losing warmth.
"Mother, mother don’t leave Ye’er!" The young boy wailed with hopeless despair, like an injured wolf cub.
It’s gone, everything’s gone, father, mother, clansmen, all dead.
Why, why is he the only one left alive.
Holding onto his mother’s cold corpse, the young boy cried hoarsely, until finally, everything went dark, and he collapsed. At the moment he fell, he felt a soft hand catching him.
"Ling Yue, you..." Ji Ru Mo sighed helplessly, seeing Ye Lingyue ignoring warnings to rush out of the magic array.
"Uncle Ru Mo, he passed out, let’s try to save him?" Little Ling Yue anxiously looked at the unconscious boy, visibly tense.
"Is everything destined?" Ji Ru Mo couldn’t resist Little Ling Yue’s plea, taking her to a divine race village ten miles away.
Not wanting to worry her mother, Little Ling Yue left a letter in the magic array.
After completing these tasks, she felt secure following Ji Ru Mo to the ancient divine tribe village.
Years later, when Ji Ru Mo recalls these events, he regrets not being more resolute, or ruthless enough to kill the immature Xi Jiuye. Perhaps Ye Lingyue would’ve remained the happy, joyful Ye Lingyue.
Yet, unknown forces have already set destiny’s gears in motion.
