Adam Sinclair knew from his reaction that this was yet another setup by Renee Anderson. While he was utterly disgusted with Renee, he was even more disappointed in Austin Harper.
A person can be fooled once or twice. But for Austin to be deceived repeatedly, used as a tool each time, and still think he’s upholding justice, it made it impossible to forgive him.
At this moment, the doctor, having changed clothes, came over to inform them, "Young Master Sinclair, the operating room is ready. We can administer anesthetic to this Miss now."
"I got it." Adam took Renee’s hand, completely ignoring Benjamin Sinclair and the others, and began to lead Renee inside.
Renee suddenly started struggling desperately, "I don’t want to! Adam, I don’t want to terminate the baby in my womb. I don’t need you to take responsibility for my child. Please, don’t do this. Austin Harper and Benjamin Sinclair’s expressions both changed, especially Benjamin, whose shock was mixed with a hint of joy, though also with anger, as he immediately pressed, "What baby? Renee, are you pregnant?"
He had only heard from Austin about Renee’s drunken incident with Adam and didn’t know Renee was pregnant.
He, like any normal person, automatically assumed that the child in Renee’s womb was Adam’s.
"Uncle Sinclair, I..." Renee, pale-faced and frantic, tried hard to resist being dragged by Adam.
Benjamin became increasingly certain she was pregnant, that the child in her womb was Adam’s, his own grandchild. Without a second thought, he stepped in front of Adam, "What are you doing! I forbid you to terminate this child! I see you’ve been bewitched by that little star. You’re almost thirty and still have no kids! When I was thirty, you were already five!"
Authoritative and intimidating, he decisively declared, "Since Renee is pregnant, I’m the one calling the shots, you two are getting married! I, Benjamin Sinclair, will not let my grandchild wander outside!"
"Are you sure the one in her womb is your grandchild and not some other man’s bastard?" Adam looked at him mockingly, not giving an inch.
As soon as he said this, Austin was the first who couldn’t take it, clenching his fist ready to charge forward, "I’ll kill you, you beast!"
But he hadn’t moved forward before he was blocked by Baron Lawrence’s bodyguards, who stopped him outside.
Austin, seething with anger, waved his fists and growled furiously, "Move!"
Baron Lawrence frowned, glancing at him as if looking at an ant, his handsome face full of impatience, "So noisy, make him shut up!"
"Yes, President Lawrence." Assistant Terrence immediately signaled to a few of the bodyguards.
Without a word, the tall and burly bodyguards, two of them pinned Austin, while another covered his mouth, pressing him face-first against the wall. Austin’s face was forced against the wall, unable to move, turning red and purple, with his mouth blocked, not able to say a single word, utterly embarrassed.
Seeing Austin’s miserable state, Renee’s face turned pale as she glanced fearfully at the aloof and arrogant man, placing her hopes on Benjamin Sinclair, "Uncle Sinclair, Austin he..."
Benjamin had also witnessed the earlier scene but he dared not easily provoke Baron Lawrence. He could only pretend not to hear Renee’s words, redirecting his focus onto Adam Sinclair, "I’m telling you again, marry Renee!"
