Chapter 2817 - 2826: Heading Out
Chapter 2817: Chapter 2826: Heading Out
Austin Harper hesitated for a moment, gritted his teeth, and agreed, "Alright, I’ll call Adam Sinclair, but I don’t know if he’s willing to come out."
On the other end of the phone, Renee Anderson said ambiguously, "Don’t worry, he will definitely come out. He’s not the kind of person who would stand by and watch a friend in trouble without lending a hand."
Even if Adam Sinclair has a reason not to help, he would come out and explain to Austin why he wouldn’t help.
Because this man has always been a loyal person at heart!
To his friends, and to his feelings too!
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have rushed to the car accident scene to take the blame for her after just one call. Even when surrounded and bombarded by so many media outlets, he didn’t expose her...
Sadly, she thought she could always own Adam’s affection.
Who could have known that a wrecker would suddenly appear and steal the happiness of youth that originally belonged to her!
"As long as you call him, he will definitely come out." She continued to brainwash Austin, agreeing on a place to meet later, and prepared to head out first.
Austin hung up the phone, feeling much more relaxed. Although feeling a bit guilty, he called Adam as Renee suggested.
Sure enough, Adam agreed to come out, just as Renee said.
He immediately felt more at ease, told Adam about the address of the little tavern, grabbed his motorcycle jacket, and was about to go out.
Mrs. Harper saw him leaving, her eyes red and swollen, frowning as she grabbed him and scolded angrily, "Where are you running off to again? The house is already in chaos, I’m begging you, don’t add to the mess!"
For the first time, Austin saw his mother looking so disheveled and haggard. His heart tightened, fortifying his determination to find Adam and ask for help, as he pried her hand away, saying, "I’m not going out to have fun; I’m going to find a friend for help."
Mrs. Harper didn’t believe him, "Those friends of yours, they are all riffraff; who can help you? Don’t come back causing trouble. Now your Grandpa and Dad are both in jail. If you get into trouble, there’s no one left to help you."
Austin wasn’t pleased with her lack of faith in him, and unhappily retorted, "Don’t worry, it’s a friend who can actually help. He even agreed to come out and meet me. I’m going to see him and have him help us investigate what’s really going on with Grandpa and them."
Mrs. Harper still held onto his hand, obviously not reassured.
Austin looked at her helplessly, "Mom, I’m the only man left in our family now. You and Grandma are both crying; you can’t expect me to just stay at home crying with you, can you? Someone in this family has to step up, and that’s me. Don’t worry, I’ll find out and come back quickly."
"You at least need to tell me which friend you’re going to meet." Mrs. Harper seemed to be swayed by his words, speaking in a soft voice.
Austin knew she wouldn’t let him leave unless he told her, so he simply told her straight, "It’s Adam Sinclair. I called Sister Renee, and she agreed to help us find connections to look into Grandpa’s case. But she said her connections might not be able to figure everything out, and suggested I call Adam to see if he could help. Adam agreed to meet, so I’m going to see him."
"You said Renee?" Mrs. Harper didn’t know what she was reminded of, but a flash of disgust crossed her eyes, and she finally said, "You should have less contact with her. She’s not the kind of girl you think she is. Be cautious, and don’t get involved in her and Adam’s matters."
