Chapter 1765: Chapter 1755: The President’s Stomach Problem Acted Up
"I can go myself." Enna Clark was embarrassed to trouble him.
Assistant Terrence was particularly insistent, "Let me accompany you. You don’t know anyone in the Human Resources Department, I can directly take you to meet the Human Resources Manager."
Enna thought for a moment and agreed, "...Alright."
"Ms. Clark, let’s go."
He led the way, and Enna had no choice but to follow him.
The Human Resources Department is on the 68th floor.
Enna followed him down in the elevator.
Everyone they met greeted him, showing his status at Lawrence Headquarters.
Enna, however, seemed absent-minded and distracted.
Once they entered the elevator, Assistant Terrence casually asked in a low voice, "Ms. Clark, did you have an argument with President Lawrence?"
"..." Why does everyone ask her this question?
"Ms. Clark, don’t misunderstand. I mean no harm." He quickly waved his hand and explained, "I just noticed President Lawrence hasn’t been in a good mood these past two days, so I’m a bit concerned."
He decided to play on emotions, saying straight away, "President Lawrence has been working overtime intensively these past few days, and refuses to eat. This morning, he even had a stomachache bad enough that Young Master Sinclair came over to help him and put him on a drip. Oh, there have been so many things at the company recently, and Old Lord has just woken up, throwing several big projects at President Lawrence. I’m really worried that if this continues, President Lawrence’s health won’t hold up..."
Enna pressed her lips tightly and didn’t speak.
Assistant Terrence stole a glance at her reaction and continued, "But the President ignores advice and insists on cramming his schedule full. Today at noon, the President held several meetings consecutively and still hasn’t eaten. Young Master Sinclair specifically mentioned this morning that if the President doesn’t eat, next time he’ll end up directly in the hospital."
Enna pressed her lips tightly; she’s not stupid and could tell the assistant was deliberately saying this in front of her.
It’s likely trying to get her to reconcile with Baron Lawrence.
But the issue is, she and Baron Lawrence didn’t just have an argument, they broke up.
It was Baron Lawrence who initiated the breakup.
Assistant’s words had some exaggeration, but mostly they were true. In the past two days, Baron Lawrence hasn’t completely avoided food, but he’s been eating very little.
This morning, he really had a stomachache bad enough that Young Master Sinclair came over and put him on a drip.
And he indeed hasn’t eaten this noon.
He originally thought after saying all this, Ms. Clark would at least have some reaction. Unexpectedly, the whole process felt like he was performing solo. Besides pressing her lips tightly and looking a bit pale, Ms. Clark didn’t respond at all!
Since Enna didn’t respond, he had all these persuasive words bottled up and had no outlet. He could only slowly close his mouth, feeling stifled.
Luckily, the elevator ’dinged’ open at this moment.
Assistant Terrence stepped out first and said, "Ms. Clark, we’re here. This is the Human Resources Department floor. Follow me, we’ll go directly to the Human Resources Manager."
"Okay." Enna absent-mindedly nodded and followed.
Baron Lawrence had a stomachache this morning? Didn’t eat at noon today either? And deliberately kept himself busy with work?
She clenched the resignation report in her hand tightly, and her thoughts wandered.
In no time, they reached the Human Resources Manager’s office.
Assistant Terrence knocked on the door and opened it, "Pardon us."
"Assistant Terrence, why are you here?" The person inside immediately set aside their work and greeted them, then discreetly glanced at Enna standing beside him. They quickly withdrew their gaze, pretending not to notice Enna, and shook hands with the assistant with a smile.
