Chapter 1714 - 1704: Sleepless Night
Chapter 1714: Chapter 1704: Sleepless Night
Enna Clark, dealing with her period and a sleepless night, squinted as the sun made her eyes blur. She felt terrible. Shaking her head, she tried to soldier on.
Scott Harris was determined this time, "Ms. Clark, Baron Lawrence might have already returned. Let’s go back to the villa first, have a look. If Baron’s not back, get some sleep, and I’ll accompany you to continue the search."
Enna Clark didn’t argue, her voice hoarse as she asked, "Is Baron Lawrence still not answering his phone?"
"No, my lord hasn’t picked up."
He couldn’t anymore comfort Ms. Clark by saying my lord didn’t see it.
Because it was too unbelievable.
An hour or two of not seeing it might be understandable, but a whole night? Who would believe that?
Although Scott Harris didn’t know what had happened, from Baron’s behavior, it was certainly something serious.
He had a pounding headache and was at a loss for what to do.
But he must bring Ms. Clark back, or he would definitely be in trouble.
He didn’t know where Baron was, but he knew if Ms. Clark fell ill, Baron would surely send him to mine coal in Country T.
"Ms. Clark, let’s go back to the villa." Scott Harris pleaded.
Enna Clark also understood finding Baron was like finding a needle in a haystack. Even if she exhausted herself here, she might not find Baron Lawrence.
She just felt terrible.
She didn’t want to make things hard for Scott Harris. Though she still wanted to look for a while, she compromised, "Okay."
Scott Harris breathed a long sigh of relief and quickly said, "I’ll get the car, Ms. Clark, wait for me here."
As he spoke, he trotted towards the parking lot, afraid Enna might change her mind...
Enna Clark had no intention of regretting it. She lowered her head and took out her phone.
Her phone hadn’t been charged the whole night, with battery under three percent. Using the last bit of power, she dialed again.
"Beep beep..." A prolonged sound of the dial tone.
Before the dozen beeps were finished, her phone clicked and went black.
She tried it; it had run out of battery and shut off automatically.
For the first time, Enna Clark felt a sense of defeat, clutching the phone tightly.
In the past, no matter how angry Baron Lawrence was, he would not go a whole night without answering her calls. If she called enough times, he would eventually pick up. But this time was different, she had called over eighty times throughout the night, and Baron Lawrence simply did not answer.
Moreover, she realized that without him picking up, she had no other way to find him.
Enna Clark felt a dull ache in her lower abdomen again. She took a deep breath to suppress the discomfort in her chest.
Just then, Scott Harris drove over.
She opened the car door herself, got in with difficulty and said, "Let’s go back."
"Yes."
Scott Harris reversed the car and drove towards the villa.
...
The villa was the same as when they had left it last night.
As Enna Clark stepped inside, she immediately saw the man sitting in the living room playing with his phone.
It was Baron Lawrence!
When did he come back?
Enna’s exhausted face lit up, and even Scott Harris, beside her, was delighted, softly saying, "Ms. Clark, it’s Baron, Baron is back."
"Yes."
Enna Clark had a lot she wanted to say to him. She took quick steps, almost jogging over, "Baron Lawrence."
But the man with a cold face and expressionless demeanor didn’t even lift his head. His fingers kept sliding across the phone screen, playing the match-3 game he had once taught Enna Clark, as if he hadn’t heard her call out to him, not even twitching a brow.
