Let's Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 2286: Custom Lovers (21)

After the banquet ended, Li Sheng received the investigation results. Seeing the extensive praise and the few words ‘meticulously refined and treasured,’ the veins on Li Sheng’s forehead twitched violently.

Is she treating me like a fool?

That woman indeed has a problem!

“Sir, what should we do now?”

“What should we do?” Li Sheng’s thoughts spun rapidly, ultimately saying, “Keep an eye on them for now.”

“Alright.”

–

Chuzheng indeed just wanted to fool Li Sheng. If she truly intended to hide, she could completely synthesize it, leaving them no trace whatsoever.

She had expected Li Sheng to take some action after discovering it.

This way, she could rightfully defend herself.

Who knew Li Sheng did not make any move at all…

Chuzheng lay bored on the desk in Fong Yan’s office, pondering how to deal with Li Sheng.

Outside the office, employees whispered amongst themselves, discussing who this pretty lady really was.

“By tomorrow noon, a new plan must be presented.”

Fong Yan entered with Assistant Yu; he seemed quite displeased, a hint of anger permeating his demeanor.

Assistant Yu nodded cautiously in agreement.

After giving instructions, Fong Yan said, “Leave now.”

Assistant Yu turned and hurriedly slipped away.

Terrifying!

The boss just seemed like he swallowed dynamite.

Chuzheng turned in Fong Yan’s boss chair, leisurely asking him as he entered, “Who made you angry?”

Fong Yan’s movement slightly paused, then naturally relaxed, “Work stuff.”

“I can help you.”

“No need,” Fong Yan walked to the desk, “Let me work.”

“What’s wrong with me sitting for a bit?”

Fong Yan pressed the table, his gaze falling elsewhere, his tone somewhat helpless, “I need to work.”

Chuzheng boldly slapped her thigh, “Sit!”

Fong Yan: “…”

“I can handle it!” The Good Person Card’s weight is nothing!

Fong Yan: “…”

Fong Yan gathered his things from the desk and directly went to the meeting area beside to work.

After sitting for a while, Chuzheng also trotted over, “Why hasn’t that dog Li Sheng made a move?”

Without Li Sheng acting, how can I hit him where it hurts?

Fong Yan: “What move?”

Chuzheng: “I saw he checked that audio and knew I was fooling him, why hasn’t he taken any action?”

Fong Yan: “…”

Fong Yan almost accidentally moved an important file to the trash bin on the screen.

Fong Yan also later realized that Chuzheng’s sound would certainly expose her.

But since Chuzheng had already done it, Li Sheng surely knew, what could he do?

The only hope was that Li Sheng’s intelligence was malfunctioning.

However, Li Sheng’s intelligence was evidently not malfunctioning; he not only found out but investigated as well… but his lack of movement is somewhat surprising.

This time, Li Sheng was remarkably patient.

“Are you monitoring him?”

Chuzheng sternly denied, “No, I’m just casually looking.”

The internet is like her home, coming and going freely, how can it be called surveillance!

Fong Yan’s mouth twitched, tempted to discuss legal issues with Chuzheng, but upon realizing she’d soon forget, he had to let it go.

About Li Sheng…

Fong Yan changed the subject, “Did you crack that file?”

“Almost.”

“I found some documents about TID,” Fong Yan pulled out several paper files, “I found these in my sister’s books.”

Chuzheng took them and flipped through.

The founding year of TID was 2058, and it has been 63 years since then. The founding documents mention it as a biological technology research institute.

But by 2060, it was already closed.

Opening for just two years and then closing… something doesn’t add up.

“Back then, TID’s funding all came from the same person,” Fong Yan turned the file to the last page, “Simpson Fergus.”

Chuzheng pondered Fong Yan’s implication, “Do you want to investigate?”

Fong Yan exhaled heavily, “I feel my uncle’s disappearance, my sister’s matters, and what I forgot might all be connected to this. I want to know… what exactly I forgot, what happened to my sister and uncle.”

Chuzheng looked at him fixedly for a few seconds, “Got it.”

Chuzheng carefully examined the files.

The record inside didn’t contain much information.

The most valuable mention was of Simpson Fergus.

Chuzheng searched for this name, there were thousands worldwide… that’s like finding a needle in a haystack!

“Where was it registered?” She seemed to have not noticed a registration location in the documents.

Fong Yan flipped through, “Not mentioned.”

“…” Without a registration place, they could only focus domestically, though there was still a timeframe.

The searched numbers kept diminishing until there were seven left.

Chuzheng projected the data onto the screen.

Among them, two were already deceased, and two were born after 2058, which couldn’t be right.

Even if the person was twenty years old then, they’d now be over eighty.

“Excluding those born in ’58, there are five suspects most likely candidates.” Chuzheng crossed out the two born in ’58, “Look.”

–

Chuzheng claimed to be in a bad mood, choosing not to follow Fong Yan to the company, staying home instead. Once Fong Yan left, she immediately went out to investigate those individuals.

Fong Yan mentioned he would have people investigate this.

But Chuzheng felt those people were too slow and preferred to do it herself.

Yet, having already examined two with no leads, Chuzheng began to feel irritated.

Chuzheng scratched her head, calmed down a bit, tidied her appearance, and exited the car.

The street here was narrow, many buildings having collapsed.

Despite this, looking around, it was evident that many people still lived here.

Chuzheng confirmed the address, was it really here?

She walked over the uneven ground, heading inside, some house numbers having vanished, others graffiti-covered and messy.

The air carried an unpleasant smell, with various rubbish strewn across the ground.

Chuzheng crossed the street, occasionally someone peeked to study her, but under her gaze, they quickly withdrew.

Plap-plap-plap…

Odd noises emerged behind her.

Chuzheng glanced back; apart from those cowardly seeking people, there was nothing unusual.

Chuzheng withdrew her gaze, standing motionless.

In the corner, tens of meters away from Chuzheng, several people squatted, whispering to each other.

“What’s her deal?”

“Has she discovered us?”

“Impossible, we’re not even close.”

“Then why is she… damn! Where did she go?”

The street was empty; not even a shadow lingered.

The group hastily pursued her, stopping where she had paused, scanning the surroundings.

“Damn, she vanished in the blink of an eye, is she flying now?”

“There’s nowhere else to go…”

“Find her quickly!”

The group was just about to split to search when a cool, clear female voice rang out from above.

“Looking for me?”

They simultaneously looked up.

It was a building, half of it collapsing, leaving the other half standing as if split down the middle, steel and concrete suspended in the air.

And the girl stood on one protruding steel bar.

Her golden hair gently waving, revealing a pretty face, yet a coldness in her expression sent a chilly sensation.

“Why are you looking for me?”
