Chapter 2587: Revealing Himself

Chapter 2587: Revealing Himself

The Goddess of Wu Mountain’s face turned hot. Even now, she still remembered Zu An’s scent and burning passion. Based on his earlier words, what I just experienced might be what he and Miss Manman went through. But why would I have such an illusion when I am completely unaware of it?

She suddenly remembered Zu An mentioning that she looked identical to Miss Manman, and she had seen her reflection in the illusion too—they were identical. They only diverged in their disposition and expressions. With her vast knowledge, she suddenly wondered: Could Miss Manman be my reincarnation?

When this thought emerged, her heart suddenly raced. Hold on, this is unbelievable. Could I still be in an illusion? Given that I was plunged into an illusion, the same should have happened to Zu An too. Is he able to escape that quickly?

She looked in the direction where Zu An disappeared with uncertain eyes.

Zu An had indeed been in an illusion earlier. He'd gone through an endless cycle of being devoured and restored by the eyes, undergoing countless destructions and rebirths, before he finally woke up from it.

Years of treading around death had tempered his resilience. It would take more to bring him down. It was also a good thing that not all the eyes had wanted to destroy him. The balance between destruction and rebirth had given him the chance to regain consciousness.

He had no idea what those eyes were, and he couldn’t help but notice how Mi Li hadn’t intervened in the entire process. Even now that he was out of the illusion, he still retained a vivid memory of those eyes.

Are these the universal deities that Mi Li and the Time Scribe previously mentioned?

Just then, he arrived at Xihe’s position. Xihe’s light was flickering, and she was smiling bizarrely. It was an eerie sight.

“Xihe! Xihe!” Zu An hurriedly cleansed the black fog around her and infused a surge of warm primordial ki into her body.

In the first place, Xihe's position as the Sun Goddess granted her strong immunity against demons. With Zu An’s help, it didn’t take long for her to regain consciousness. The first thing she did upon opening her eyes and seeing Zu An was to embrace him.

Zu An was stunned, saying, "I still have to maintain the other three directions.”

While the softness pressing against him was tempting, he could only leave his posts to check on them using his flames and ki temporarily. He needed to be ready to return to the other three directions at any moment to replenish the energies, so the formation wouldn’t collapse.

Xihe belatedly realized this wasn’t a dream and anxiously retracted her hand.

There were a thousand things Zu An wanted to ask her, but he had no choice but to return to his position and maintain the formation.

Xihe’s cheeks reddened. Was it all an illusion?

In the illusion, she'd lived a blissful life with Zu An. The ten Golden Crows were still alive, and she'd made them call Zu An 'father'... Recalling the scene made Xihe’s toes curl up so hard that they nearly dug into the ground.

However, when she remembered that the ten Golden Crows were dead, her expression quickly sank. Her previously reddened face became pale once more.

Given her capability, she had already subconsciously realized that it was all a lie in the illusion, but she'd wanted the happiness to last for just a moment longer. She'd even considered never waking up again. It was only when Zu An woke her up that she could no longer find reasons to stay in there.

With the three of them regaining consciousness, the Five Directions Demon Suppressing Formation finally whirred back to life. Under the influence of the formation, the palace glowed as other demon suppression formations began to activate.

The pitch-black demonic ki inside the hall gradually thinned as many souls were freed from the Myriad Souls Banner’s control. Transparent faces that were previously marred with anger and ferocity regained their peace, and their souls dissipated into starlight.

The remaining demonic ki gathered within a three meter radius of the Myriad Souls Banner. The banner buzzed eerily as it tried to make a final stand against the celestial palace’s cleansing powers.

But these formations had been constructed and refined by countless Celestial Emperors and deities; it would be an understatement to say that they were powerful. On top of that, they were aided by Zu An’s Five Directions Demon Suppression Formation.

The Myriad Souls Banner was fighting a losing battle. The radius of the demonic ki grew smaller and smaller.

Just then, a dashing youth dressed in a black robe with golden embroidery suddenly appeared in the palace. Xihe shuddered at the sight of the youth.

The youth turned to Xihe. He pointed a finger at Zu An and said, “Mother, that fellow killed my nine older brothers. Are you really going to work with the enemy?”

He was the only Golden Crow who had escaped.

“No, that’s not how it is...” Xihe’s voice quivered.

“That is how it is! He shot us down with his bow, Suzeng. I saw my nine older brothers die before my eyes. He would have killed me too, if not for uncle arriving in time. Mother, you have to avenge my big brothers!”

Xihe’s face turned pale. “You have misunderstood. The culprit is Jun. He...”

The Golden Crow interjected before she could finish her piece, “Mother, there’s no way our father would hurt us! Who fooled you? Is it that gigolo? You mustn’t be fooled by him!”

“It’s not him...” Xihe thought about the mysterious man she'd met and hesitated.

Now that I think about it, it was a one-sided claim on his part, saying that Emperor Jun killed the Ten Suns and was planning to construct the Apocalypse Formation. Why did I believe him so easily? Could I have been subconsciously hoping for that to be the case because I don’t want Zu An to be the enemy?

“Mother, I don’t blame you for being fooled by that gigolo. If you aren’t going to avenge my big brothers, I’ll do it alone!” the youth roared angrily. He spread his wings and unleashed a barrage of sword ki against Zu An.

Zu An was already struggling to maintain three directions. The Goddess of Wu Mountain exclaimed in astonishment, “Be careful!”

However, she was so severely injured that just maintaining the formation sapped all her strength. She couldn’t help him.

Zu An had to admit that this last Golden Crow had chosen a good time to attack them. His hands were indeed full at the moment... but sometimes, hands weren't required to suppress someone.

A Seven-Colored Divine Halo shone, and the Golden Crow charging toward him vanished.

“Spare him!” Xihe exclaimed.

Zu An replied, “Don’t worry, my divine halo only imprisons people. He'll be safe. Besides, I doubt I can hold him in.”

Xihe was taken aback. Why won’t you be able to hold him in? My tenth son is the youngest and weakest among his brothers. There’s no way he can struggle free of your divine halo.

A golden light shone through the Seven-Colored Divine Halo, and the Golden Crow youth broke free from his incarceration. However, his eyes now looked much older and more vicious.

“Emperor Jun, you can’t keep hiding it,” Zu An remarked with a sigh.
