Chapter 271: Born to do Business
Chapter 271: Born to do Business
Wu Tian stared at Xiang Ling as if the woman had grown another head all of a sudden. "Young Lady Chen-"
"Just call me Xiang Ling, Young Master Wu." Xiang Ling interrupted with a small smile on her lips.
Wu Tian first closed his mouth and then let out a sigh before continuing, "Xiang Ling... didn’t you just say that you will consider your friendship with Su LiangLin and provide the assistance of your servants for today?"
"I did." Xiang Ling immediately accepted. "I’m indeed keeping my friendship with Su LiangLin in consideration. Or why do you think I will agree to lend my servants to you without asking for anything in return? As for the ten silver taels I just mentioned, they are the rewards of the servants. I will not take even a penny from it."
Xiang Ling made sure to put on her best act possible as she explained her demand. It was so good that even Supreme Immortal Lin was fooled by it.
"I think Ah Xiang is right. She’s already being so considerate by providing her servants to us without asking for anything in return. It will be too inconsiderate on our part to not reward the servants either." Su LiangLin voiced out her agreement with Xiang Ling’s words. As if the thought suddenly appeared in her mind, she turned her full attention toward Xiang Ling and asked, "But ten silver taels per hour-"
"Is that too low?" Xiang Ling asked before Su LiangLin could finish speaking, and her words almost made Wu Tian choke on thin air. Shifting her gaze between Su LiangLin and Wu Tian, she spoke, "I know that with your identity, you are rich enough to give as much as a hundred taels per hour. But I can’t be that greedy. My servants are simple and of humble origin, a few extra silvers for their hardwork will be enough to make them content and happy. So, ten silver taels per hour is all I will ask for... even if you want to give more."
While Su LiangLin nodded her head in understanding, the look on Wu Tian’s face was one of defeat as he glared at Xiang Ling.
"Husband, since Ah Xiang is determined to not accept more than ten silver taels, let’s respect her choice." Su LiangLin spoke while addressing her husband.
Wu Tian turned his burning gaze toward Su LiangLin who was at a complete loss for suddenly finding herself at the receiving end of such a terrifying gaze.
Finally nodding his head, Wu Tian spoke. "Alright, Xiang Ling. Ten silver taels per hour it is then. I can finally see why Tranquil Cloud Inn’s business is booming. You are indeed born to do business." Despite the smile on his lips, the pain was clear in his eyes as he accepted his defeat.
Xiang Ling stood up from her seat and offered a proper courtesy. "Thank you for the compliment, Young Master Wu. I will return and send a group of servants over here to help you all clean up this place." With a bright smile, she took her leave and headed back to Chen Manor.
’No doubt you have been defeating that Supreme Immortal Lin despite her being more powerful than you. That woman is just too stupid to see through your shrewdness.’ Little Pink spoke through their shared mind link as Xiang Ling stepped out of the Crown Prince’s newly bought Manor.
’No need to praise me.’ Xiang Ling responded right before her attention landed on a very familiar figure who too noticed her and started making his way toward her.
"Xu Wei?"
"Master."
The Young man was beaming as he approached Xiang Ling and greeted her with a deep bow. He then quickly took a look behind Xiang Ling before he turned his confused gaze at her.
"Our new neighbors are my old friends. I just went to greet them and find out that they are in need of servants to clean up their place. I was just returning back to the manor to ask Aunt Yan so that she can take a group of servants there and help them set up the place." Xiang Ling explained when she noticed Xu Wei glancing at the Wu Residence.
"Oh. I just saw Aunt Yan in the front garden." Xu Wei provided the information and Xiang Ling immediately hurried to find the old woman. Just like Xu Wei said, Aunt Yan was indeed in the front garden, supervising the gardners who were busy cleaning the cobble path in the garden that was covered in the snow.
"My Lady." Aunt Yan greeted Xiang Ling when she noticed the latter walking in with Xu Wei.
"Aunt Yan, I have a task for you." Xiang Ling spoke before she explained the entire situation and asked Aunt Yan to bring a group of servants to Wu residence with her. "Make sure that nothing goes wrong. Young Madam Su is my close friend."
"Don’t worry, My Lady. I will make sure that Young Madam Su will be satisfied with the work of our servants."
Knowing that the task was transferred to responsible hands, Xiang Ling started making her way toward the front gate of the manor once again.
"Master, are you going somewhere?" Xu Wei asked as he quickly followed after her.
"I’m thinking about taking a stroll through the city." Xiang Ling replied as the duo walked out of the Chen Manor.
"Then let me accompany you. I’m familiar with every street and every single building of the city now. I can be your guide." Xu Wei suggested proudly only to halt in his tracks when Xiang Ling turned her questioning gaze at him.
"When did you find the time to get familiar with the city so much?" She asked.
With a sheepish smile, the man answered, "Well... after you left for Capital, I had nothing else to do-"
He suddenly received a light tap of knuckle on his forehead right before getting reprimanded.
"I told you to recuperate in the manor, and you were out strolling on the streets."
