Chapter 227: Swapping Carriages

As the morning arrived, Xiang Ling and her husbands had their breakfast after packing up and getting ready. Finishing their breakfast, they climbed into the carriage and departed from the Inn for the city gate.

Coincidentally, the Crown Prince’s group arrived at the City gate almost at the same time as Xiang Ling’s group. While Xiang Ling’s group consisted of only four people, Crown Prince’s group had nearly a hundred people in it.

"This is going to attract a lot of unnecessary attention." Xin Cheng commented as his gaze surveyed the army of Imperial guards that was following the Crown Prince.

Xiang Ling totally agreed with the Demon Emperor’s words and could see the problems they might be facing because of the Crown Prince’s calvary that would leave no doubt in the minds of the onlookers that a royal was sitting inside the carriage. However, neither she nor her husbands were in a position where they could provide the Crown Prince with their advice.

All it took was the Imperial token of the Crown Prince and they were given a free pass by the guards stationed at the city’s gate. Just as they all were ready to depart from the Capital, the Crown Prince spoke from inside his royal carriage.

"Lady Chen, if you don’t mind, I have a proposal in mind." ree

Xiang Ling shared a quick look in her husbands’ direction before she quickly replied to the Crown Prince. "Please do tell us, Your Highness."

"It’s nothing much. I was just thinking why not Lady Chen and my Crown Princess share the same carriage? You both are women and close friends too who haven’t met for so long. You can take this time to bond together once again. I will be more than happy to invite your husbands to share the carriage with me. I will also be able to learn something about Dongzhi City from them. What do you say?"

Xiang Ling wanted to refuse even before her husbands started shaking their heads in denial of the offer. Unfortunately, the Crown Prince wasn’t asking for their permission, he was ordering them to do as he wanted.

Giving her husbands an encouraging look, she replied, "That sounds like a great idea, Your Highness. Please let Her Highness head over to my carriage." She then turned her attention toward her husbands and whispered, "Just bear with it."

While Wei Guang and Zhang Xuan nodded their heads in understanding, Xin Cheng didn’t make any effort to hide the clear annoyance that was visible on his face. Grabbing the Demon Emperor’s arm, she pulled the man in front of her and warned him in a serious tone. "Keep your temper under control. If you don’t like him, just ignore him. And most importantly, don’t even think about taking out your sword. He’s the Crown Prince of the Mortal Realm."

"Like I care." Was what the Demon Emperor said in response, making Xiang Ling feel even more anxious.

"You might not care about getting on the bad side of the Mortal Realm’s Crown Prince, but I do. So, BEHAVE." She stared into his eyes until he finally let out a sigh and seemed to give in.

"Keep him under control." She told Wei Guang and Zhang Xuan as she had very little trust in Xin Cheng.

"Don’t worry." Zhang Xuan told her and only then did she dare to relax. She knew that if worse came to worst, Zhang Xuan would be able to handle Xin Cheng just fine.

The three men headed toward the Crown Prince’s carriage after Su LiangLin climbed down and headed toward Xiang Ling. Both the women climbed into the carriage and they finally set out on their long journey to Dongzhi City.

For the first half an hour of the journey, Xiang Ling’s carriage was filled with silence, but then this peaceful moment was broken by Su LiangLin. "Xiang Ling, you are married too?"

"Isn’t that already pretty obvious?" Xiang Ling asked in response, not bothering to hide her disinterest in any kind of conversation with the woman. But it seemed like the Crown Princess didn’t mind whether Xiang Ling wanted to talk or not, and continued with her next question. "And you are married to three men?"

Xiang Ling had the strong urge of ignoring the woman and her questions, but she eventually found herself replying - "Six."

"Six what?"

"I’m married to six men." Xiang Ling corrected and turned her attention at the snow covered scenery outside through the gaps in the curtains of the carriage’s window.

"SI-" Su LiangLin almost ended up shouting out loud in her shock but somehow succeeded in suppressing the scream at the very last moment. She took a deep breath to calm herself down before speaking. "Six men? Did you marry them or the original owner of your body did?"

"The original Chen Xiang Ling." Xiang Ling provided but didn’t bother to clarify that it was indeed her who married her sixth husband and not the previous owner of her body.

"That’s crazy." Su LiangLin was having a hard time wrapping her head around what she just learnt. A couple of moments later, she asked again. "Are all six of your husbands this good looking? I swear these three can outshine the most handsome man of the Imperial City without even trying."

The most handsome man of the Capital City was none other than the Crown Prince. Good thing was, the man himself wasn’t present in the carriage to hear Su LiangLin’s words.

Xiang Ling gave the woman a hard glare but didn’t say anything. Su LiangLin continued to ask more questions as the journey continued.

"I almost forgot. Ah Xiang, is there someone else from the upper realms around you? I remember sensing a divine energy when we were changing carriages, but it was so quick that I didn’t get to find the source."

"You will find out later. Just don’t overreact when that moment comes." Xiang Ling advised the woman.

Around three hours later, the carriage came to a sudden stop.
