No matter how hard she tried, Xiang Ling was unable to fall asleep. She kept recalling all that she just said to Dao Ming and the heartache she was experiencing at the moment was killing her from the inside.
Letting out a frustrated sigh, she gave up on sleeping and entered her Spatial Realm to cultivate for the remaining hours of the night. However, it was easier said than done. She kept trying for nearly an hour but nothing seemed to be helping her. She was unable to concentrate at all.
Having nothing better to do, she returned to her room and started pacing in the room while wandering how to calm herself down. She needed something to take her mind off. A few moments later, she walked out of her room and headed toward the outer courtyard. She didn’t think about where she was going but her legs already knew their destination. Within minutes, she found herself standing outside Zhe Yuan’s room.
Zhang Xuan had been staying in the guest courtyard next to theirs as he refused to share the room with Zhe Yuan. Knowing that the Mer Crown Prince was alone in his room, she knocked on the door and waited for him to open it.
It barely took a few seconds before Zhe Yuan opened the door and his confused gaze landed on her. "Lingling, what happened?" He asked with his voice full of concern when he found her standing outside his room in the middle of the night.
Xiang Ling didn’t reply and just stepped into his room, forcing the man to step back and make room for her to enter. The door closed behind them as she closed the space between them and wrapped her arms around his shoulders.
Though surprised by her actions, Zhe Yuan didn’t try to push her away. "Is everything alright?" He asked in a soft voice while studying her face closely.
Looking at the concern in his eyes, Xiang Ling wasn’t able to lie. Shaking her head, she whispered, "It’s not, Ah Yuan. Nothing is alright."
Zhe Yuan was shocked to see the hurt in her eyes and hear the heaviness in her voice. Feeling worried, he quickly pulled her closer and cupped her face between his palms. "What happened, Lingling?"
Xiang Ling once again shook her head as she whispered, "I don’t want to talk about it."
Though still worried, Zhe Yuan nodded his head in understanding. "It’s alright. Then tell me, what do you want to do?" His question was innconet but Xiang Ling’s intentions weren’t. Pulling his face closer, she locked her eyes with his and answered, "I want you to make me forget everything else tonight. I want you to make me only think about you. Will you do it for me, Ah Yuan?"
To say that Zhe Yuan was shocked by her request would be an understatement. He just stared at her in silence with an unreadable expression on his face. Several long seconds passed before he finally reacted. He patted her head softly while smiling at her as he spoke, "It’s already half past one. You should get some sleep. Come, let me put you to bed."
He tried to pull her toward the bed but Xiang Ling didn’t move from her spot, forcing the man to stop as well and turn his attention back to her.
"Are you refusing me?" She asked in a voice that was devoid of any sort of emotion.
Zhe Yuan quickly shook his head. "Trust me, my Stardust. I have been waiting for such a moment, but I can’t do it right now."
"Why?" Xiang Ling demanded.
"Because I don’t want our first time as your solution of forgetting about someone else. That’s not how I want it to happen." Zhe Yuan answered genuinely only for Xiang Ling to grab his robes and pull him closer.
"Your Highness, don’t make me regret my decision of coming here." Her words sounded like a clear warning but hidden under the facade was the plea that didn’t go unnoticed by Zhe Yuan. He remained silent for a while as he pondered on what to do next. After a moment, he finally spoke, "Let me ask then, why me?"
"Because only you can give me what I crave right now - a night full of only pleasing memories. Because I know that you will not try to go slow or soft, and... because I see the hunger in your eyes for me." Xiang Ling answered truthfully and her words brought out a deep growl from within the Mer Crown Prince.
He took another step closer which made all the space disappear between them. Their faces were so close that they were able to feel each other’s warm breaths.
"One last question - will you allow me to remarry you?"
The question did surprise Xiang Ling but she was ready to answer. "Yes." She whispered, but before Zhe Yuan could have fully experienced the happiness her answer brought to him, she added, "but not now."
Confusion took over Zhe Yuan’s expression as he pulled his face back enough to look at her properly. He opened his mouth to demand what she meant by her confusing answer, but he didn’t get the chance as she was already clarifying.
"Come and marry me in the Celestial Realm after I’m done with my life tribulation."
For a moment, he felt like his heart had stopped beating as he listened to her words. What he got was way more than he even anticipated. He watched as a smile made its way on her plump lips and he found himself smiling too. He felt her fingers brushing against the side of his neck as she gazed into his eyes.
"Your Highness, are you satisfied with my answer?" She asked, her voice thick with desire, and it finally made Zhe Yuan snap. He leaned in and claimed her lips fiercely.
Xiang Ling moaned against his lips and immediately submitted by parting her lips to welcome him.
