"All the paperwork is done. Thank you so much for your help, Master Lin. I promise that I will not let you down." Xiang Ling said as she handed the papers to Li Xian and stood up.
"There’s no need to thank me, Lady Chen. You are the one who has been showering your generosity to us. Even if we all kneel down and bow to you, it will not be enough to show just how grateful we all are for everything you have done. First, you saved our village from the plague and now, you are saving the future of these poor kids." The village head couldn’t help but feel sad when he recalled the scene in the village’s square.
"I’m just doing what my father has taught me. As a daughter, it’s my duty to share my father’s burden. He will be so happy to know that everything has settled down here and people can live their lives freely once again." Xiang Ling made sure to once again point all the attention toward the County Magistrate Chen.
"Right, right. County Magistrate Chen is a lucky man to have such a filial daughter like you. I will personally visit him in the future to show my respect for his benevolence. He’s a great official indeed." The village head took the bait and a satisfactory smile made its way to Xiang Ling’s lips.
On their way out of the village head’s house, Master Lin spoke again. "You can trust me to make proper arrangements for the rest of the people who were thinking of leaving the village. But if they still decide to leave, I will not hold them back."
Xiang Ling nodded her head in acknowledgment of his decision. She couldn’t help everyone and neither could the village head. In the end, they could just make their best effort and hope that it would turn into good results.
"Lady Chen, Master Li, Master Lin, the banquet is about to start. Everyone is waiting for your arrival." A disciple of the Wudang Sect was waiting outside the Village head’s house and greeted the three of them.
With smiles on their lips, they headed in the direction of the Inn to enjoy the banquet that represented a new start for the Lin Family’s Village. They all ate and drank to their hearts’ content that night.
The villagers showed their gratitude toward Xiang Ling, her husbands, Liying, and the disciples of the two sects. Toasts were made and praises were showered as the night deepened and the banquet finally came to an end near midnight.
"Why drink so much when you can’t handle it?" Xiang Ling asked the man who was literally wrapped around her.
"It tasted so good." Li Xian replied as he tightened his hold around her and rested his face against her shoulder. "And I can handle it. I’m not... drunk."
"Yeah, right. You aren’t drunk. You just have lost your little brain. This bed is mine, go and sleep on the floor if you are sleepy." She reminded him, knowing fully well that the man had no intentions of climbing out of the bed anytime soon.
"No! I want to hold you. Just a little bit longer." Li Xian looked extremely cute in his drunken state. Xiang Ling was unable to hold back the smile that kept spilling on her lips.
"Li Xian."
"Huh?"
"Let me ask you something. What will you do if one day you find out that your mother and I don’t like each other? Whom will you side with?" Xiang Ling almost cursed herself immediately after asking the question. What was she thinking about asking something so ridiculous?
Li Xian looked up at her face before answering, "My mother will not dislike you. She will like you just as much as I do. You should accompany me someday to visit my parents. They will be so happy to meet you."
A sigh left Xiang Ling’s lips when she realized that he was talking about his mortal parents. "Nevermind. You don’t even remember who your real mother is."
"Huh?"
Shaking her head, she pushed the man to lay on his back on the bed and immediately straddled him. "You need to be punished."
"Why?" He asked in confusion as he looked at her with heavy eyes.
"Because I want to." Xiang Ling didn’t give him time to ask anything further or even digest her response as she immediately closed the distance between their faces and captured his lips in a kiss.
A low groan escaped Li Xian’s lips and got engulfed by her as she deepened the kiss. She didn’t bother to go slow, she just pushed her tongue past his parted lips and kissed him as if he was the sweetest elixir she had ever tasted. Their lips moved in sync as he returned the kiss with just as much eagerness as her. When the two of them finally pulled apart, they both were out of breath.
The desire that had suddenly overtaken her dissipated when she heard the sound of footsteps. Realizing that someone was heading toward their room, she moved to the side only for Li Xian to move to a sitting position and he pulled her into his arms the very moment the door of their room flew open and someone stepped inside.
There was silence for a few seconds before she heard the sound of the door closing and the footsteps headed in the direction of the bed. Zhe Yuan appeared in front of her vision and spoke, "Unless you want me to join, you both should stop right now as I want to sleep."
"Join?" That was what she focused on and it made a knowing smile bloom on the man’s face. "You like that idea, don’t you?"
"I..."
She wasn’t the least bit drunk but suddenly started feeling like one as she stared at the devilish merman.
"Brother Li, will you hold her for me?" He suddenly made the request and Xiang Ling felt Li Xian’s arms tightening around her.
