Nor could they play down the situation by claiming it’s nothing, as Zhou Yan’s notorious reputation suggested she stopped them to stir up trouble.
So, they decided to lie first to divert Zhou Yan’s attention.
Perhaps this way they could still pin the blame on Lin Xi, and ideally, Zhou Yan and Lin Xi could get into a fight.
They didn’t care who was stronger or who would win!
Because as long as a fight broke out, Lin Xi would be taken to the police station!
What Ma San never expected was that Zhou Yan and Lin Xi actually knew each other. From their conversation, he could vaguely guess their relationship wasn’t ordinary, possibly even as a couple.
"This is more terrifying than walking into the path of a bullet!" Ma San said with a sorrowful face, trembling as he approached Lin Xi.
"Bro, what are your orders?"
He looked like he had swallowed something inexplicable, choosing between two repulsive options.
"Tell me everything about what happened before, honestly and from start to finish!" Lin Xi said calmly, looking at him.
But the calmer he was, the more unsettled Ma San and the group of small-time thugs behind him became.
Ma San thought, if he didn’t tell the truth, the outcome would be miserable!
And if he did tell the truth, the outcome would still be miserable!
"Bro, I apologize to you, could you please let us go with your generosity?" Ma San almost cried, feeling really oppressed, continuing to say,
"It was our fault earlier, we shouldn’t have spoken nonsense. We promise we won’t dare to cause trouble again."
Not only was there Lin Xi, who was capable of fighting, but the crucial part was he had a backer, one that was seen as a demon by small-time thugs.
Moreover, he didn’t understand Lin Xi’s identity at all.
At the same time, he secretly admired Lin Xi — to be able to manage such a fierce and powerful girl, he seemed not only to be a fierce person but someone with an extraordinary identity.
"I am always a reasonable person; calling it as it is." Lin Xi’s expression turned cold and continued,
"I’ll give you one last chance, tell me everything truthfully."
Knowing that if he didn’t speak, he might face a punch, Ma San reluctantly glanced at Zhou Yan beside him, then recounted the events that just transpired, missing nothing.
While talking, he clearly felt Zhou Yan radiating a strong murderous aura next to him. Fortunately, this resolved slightly after hearing Lin Xi’s part of the story.
Otherwise, Ma San believed that even before Lin Xi had the chance to act, he would have been beaten by Zhou Yan. It was rumored that when she struck, the criminals would spend weeks in the hospital.
"Look, shouldn’t this kind of person be beaten?" Lin Xi said, looking at Zhou Yan.
Zhou Yan didn’t respond to Lin Xi, nor did she speak; instead, her gaze swept over Ma San and his group, adopting a posture as if about to strike.
Lin Xi reached out and placed his hand on her, signaling her to stay calm, as it wouldn’t be convenient for her to make a move.
"I hate liars!" Lin Xi glanced at Ma San, then looked outside the shop, pointing directly at a lump of mud,
"Pick it up and let me see."
Ma San instantly followed Lin Xi’s gaze, ran outside, and placed the fist-sized lump of mud in his hand.
When he handed it to Lin Xi after returning, he had a bad premonition.
Similarly, everyone inside the shop looked at Lin Xi with curious gazes, even Zhou Yan couldn’t figure out what Lin Xi intended to do.
"Bro, would you take a look?" Ma San cautiously handed it to Lin Xi.
But Lin Xi didn’t take it, nor did his gaze linger on the lump of mud, taking another glance at Ma San, saying calmly, "Eat it."
As soon as he finished speaking, the entire hall fell silent.
Zhou Yan looked at Lin Xi with a peculiar gaze, giving him a slight examination — it seemed as if she viewed him with special regard.
Since the situation reversed, Elder Xiang appeared shocked, knowing Lin Xi was not an ordinary person but never imagined he’d be this domineering; yet, he didn’t feel displeased.
Because from today’s interaction, he understood Lin Xi had completely different attitudes towards them and towards Ma San’s group.
This type of person, he admired.
Xiang Juan was by her grandfather’s side, occasionally glancing at Lin Xi and Zhou Yan, noticing something amiss.
As for whether Ma San would eat the lump of mud, she didn’t care at all.
After being initially shocked, Ma San’s group all quietly hung their heads, suppressing their breath.
Pretending to be dead was something they were skilled at.
Just as everyone focused on how Ma San would refuse, he didn’t hesitate in the slightest and bit off half the lump of mud, forcefully chewing it.
Even though the mud wasn’t large, it was quite hard, crunching audibly. Lin Xi’s group took pleasure in hearing it.
Because Ma San was not someone deserving of sympathy.
If you were weaker than him, he would swallow you completely, even down to your bones.
Fortunately, Lin Xi was present; otherwise, the final outcome for Elder Xiang and Xiang Juan would have been dire, despite not being able to act out.
But in today’s society, there are countless ways to make someone wish they were dead without lifting a finger.
Clearly, Ma San possessed these methods.
"Crunch, crunch..."
A few minutes later, Ma San swallowed the entire lump of mud and said to Lin Xi with a mouth full of mud, "Bro, can I go now?"
"Scram." Lin Xi snorted coldly.
Seeing Ma San prop himself up with his hands and roll himself out.
The thugs followed suit, rolling out one by one.
"..." Watching this scene, Lin Xi thought to himself that he hadn’t meant it literally.
After Ma San’s group left, Elder Xiang thanked Lin Xi briefly and then, using an excuse, took Xiang Juan inside, evidently aware the relationship between Lin Xi and the officer was not simple.
Though aware his granddaughter was the prettiest, now wasn’t the right time to compete with the officer.
Before being dragged away by her grandfather, Xiang Juan looked at Zhou Yan with a gaze full of envy.
"The purple looks quite nice on you!" Lin Xi’s eyes sparkled, involuntarily touching his nose, glad he hadn’t had a nosebleed.
Because now, he couldn’t help but have his eyes widened!
