Chapter 382: Vicious Secret Drug
Chapter 382: Chapter 382: Vicious Secret Drug
"He can still fight for the Federation and build a great career in the future. Lele, if you don’t want to be a part of this, then just stay here. Anyone else who doesn’t wish to participate can stay here as well. I won’t force you." Yan Hezhen glanced around. She was the team leader, and the guards were her trusted followers.
"Boss Yan, I’ll stay here and watch Lele. I’ll make sure she doesn’t run out and cause trouble," a tall woman said.
After her, three more people also stated they would stay behind, clearly not wanting to get involved. Yan Hezhen’s once-calm expression grew darker and darker.
"Don’t be frightened by what Le Ling said. That medicine is rare and precious, and it works without anyone noticing. The boss’s plan is flawless. The trigger will be activated in plain sight, so how could we possibly be exposed?"
"Once Lan Xin loses control, everyone will be begging us to save him. When the boss makes her move and links with him, there won’t be any abnormalities on the surface. In the future, with such a powerful weapon in her hands, we won’t have to run all over the place, going to the most dangerous parts of the front lines to provide spiritual calming. If you don’t take part in something this good, don’t come crying to Boss Yan later." Yan Hezhen’s die-hard fan, He Jing, stepped forward to make her position clear. Most of them sent to the front lines to work as Calming Masters were here as punishment for breaking the law.
"We walk different paths and cannot conspire together. I, Le Ling, will never do something so despicable and shameless," Le Ling scoffed. That insidious, secret medicine had long been explicitly banned by Federation law. ’I have no idea where Yan Hezhen managed to get it.’
In the end, out of the 20-person team, five people, including Le Ling, remained in the room. Another six were willing to be present but would not act. The rest stated they would fully assist Yan Hezhen.
Half an hour later, Yan Hezhen and her group arrived at the training plaza. The plaza was already packed with people, and the air was thick with excitement and anticipation.
The group of more than fifty soldiers in need of spiritual calming was now seated on a stone platform in the center of the plaza. Suffering from the turmoil of their deranged spiritual power, some had unfocused, dazed expressions. Others had bloodshot eyes filled with a predatory killing intent.
One soldier’s headache was so unbearable that he was continuously pounding his own head with his hands.
As Yan Hezhen led her team through the crowd, thunderous cheers erupted from all around. Someone choked out, "The Calming Masters are here! Zhou Shi is saved!"
Zhou Shi was the soldier who looked to be in great pain, continuously pounding his own head. His uniform indicated that he was a Major General Officer with an S-Class Spiritual Power Level.
Yan Hezhen glanced contemptuously at the noisy crowd, then looked toward the row of seats directly in front of the stone platform. That was the judges’ area. Lan Xin was walking toward it, followed by the young female Doctor in white who had just arrived today.
"Since General Lan has arrived, we can begin. Everyone quiet down. He Jing, you’re in charge of the east side. Zhang Yu, you take that area..." While openly and quickly assigning tasks, Yan Hezhen secretly released a fluorescent pink butterfly from her sleeve, watching it fly toward Lan Xin from the corner of her eye.
Yan Hezhen was standing only four or five meters away from Lan Xin. When she saw the pink butterfly land lightly on him, the corners of her mouth lifted slightly. ’Everything is going according to plan.’
Aside from Yan Hezhen, the other Calming Masters had already released their spiritual power to soothe the patients. He Jing, Zhang Yu, and the others held their palms near the patients’ temples as a peaceful spiritual power flowed from their fingertips into the patients’ turbulent Spiritual Seas.
He Jing had been secretly observing Yan Hezhen, but after her spiritual power entered the patient’s Spiritual Sea, she was struck by the impact of that turbulent spiritual power, and her own Spiritual Sea began to roil.
He Jing’s spiritual power was only A-level. Soothing an S-Class male Spirit Controller was a struggle for her, and soon, a pained expression appeared on her face.
Yan Hezhen made no move to soothe the warrior whose spiritual power was raging out of control. She was waiting for the medicine to take effect on Lan Xin. Just then, a commotion erupted on the west side of the plaza. A tall soldier broke free of his restraints, let out a beast-like roar, and began frantically pounding the hard stone platform, causing cracks to appear. The whites of his eyes were completely covered by blood vessels.
"A precursor to spiritual power collapse! He’s going berserk! Captain Yan, you have to save him, quick! Any later and it’ll be too late!" an officer shouted anxiously at Yan Hezhen.
Yan Hezhen subconsciously took a step back and looked toward Lan Xin. She saw that Lan Xin had a pained expression, and dark black patterns were appearing on his neck, creeping up toward his cheeks.
Yan Hezhen was triumphant. ’The secret medicine is working!’ Sure enough, Lan Xin gasped in pain. His eyes turned bloodshot, and fine blue scales began to crawl across his face.
"General Lan, what’s wrong?" The guard next to Lan Xin dashed forward and quickly fed him a bottle of Spiritual Calming Potion.
"He Jing, you deal with this berserk warrior." Yan Hezhen pushed the problem of the berserk warrior onto He Jing, then walked over to Lan Xin.
"Ah, I..." He Jing had just finished soothing the previous soldier. Her face was now deathly pale, and her head was throbbing with pain. Her Spiritual Sea hadn’t even settled yet. ’How could I possibly handle such a complicated situation?’
Lan Xin could no longer control the tumultuous energy rampaging within him. He could feel scales growing from within his flesh, and his eyes had turned into the vertical pupils of a snake. In the reflection in his guard’s eyes, he could see the two thin, golden slits.
To make matters worse, his legs began to convulse uncontrollably. His bones emitted a horrifying CRACKING sound, as if something was rearranging itself inside him. His legs transformed into a thick, blue serpent’s tail.
As Yan Hezhen looked at Lan Xin, who was staring at her with cold eyes, she felt a horrifying chill creep through her.
"General, General, what’s wrong? Say something!" the guard anxiously shook Lan Xin, but with a light wave of Lan Xin’s arm, he was sent flying a dozen meters away with a BANG.
"He’s gone mad! He’s not in his right mind anymore. All of you, stay back! I can try to link with him using my spiritual power," Yan Hezhen said, putting on a righteous and fearless expression.
"Boss, don’t go! It’s too dangerous!" Zhang Yu tried to stop her in a panic.
"Yeah, he’s lost his mind. It’s too dangerous for you to go over there," another woman also advised.
A powerful spiritual power fluctuation emanated from Lan Xin’s body. The fluctuation was sinister, terrifying, and extremely strong.
"I have to. General Lan’s combat power is so high that no one here is his match. If I don’t at least try, all of our lives will be in danger today," Yan Hezhen said with firm resolve, acting as though she had no regard for her own safety.
