Chapter 380: Blood Cleansing Pill

Chapter 380: Chapter 380: Blood Cleansing Pill

"Master, the frontline is dangerous. Why have you come?" Lan Xin let Ning Xuan pull him to his feet and then embraced her.

Lan Xin was already tall, and now, clad in a military uniform and armor, he looked even more imposing. Ning Xuan, dressed all in white and held in his arms, was made to look quite petite in comparison.

The tall young general holding the female doctor from the medical center in his arms—this scene did not go unnoticed by others watching from a distance. The way they looked at General Lan now held a hint of suggestiveness.

"Brother Xin, did our commanding officer just kneel?" a young officer wearing the shoulder insignias of a Major General asked his companion.

"No way. How could he? General Lan is famous for being a stone-faced hardass. When he first arrived at Wanyun, he was provoked to his face because of his Half-beastman blood, but he didn’t back down for anyone. His fists do the talking. Other than showing some respect to General Ying, have you ever seen him be pleasant to anyone? Kneel? You must have seen wrong," his companion said with a scoff.

Just now, Ning Xuan had pulled Lan Xin up so quickly that even the two subordinates right behind him hadn’t gotten a clear look at their interaction.

"Maybe, but it looks like the C.O. knows that doctor. Look, don’t they seem awfully close?" Wang Cheng said to Liu Xin.

Wang Cheng and Liu Xin were both trusted aides who had followed Lan Xin for a long time. They believed they understood General Lan to some extent. The general was extremely averse to physical contact with others, especially women. Even when seriously injured, he wouldn’t let female Doctors near him.

"It seems so. Could she be someone he knew before? Or maybe... someone the general likes?" Liu Xin guessed.

"I hope General Lan doesn’t get any foolish ideas. He might be powerful, but he is a Half-beastman. Women like that will only see him as a slave to be exploited and bullied; they could never be sincere with him. Besides, with the General’s power, there are fewer than ten women in the entire Federation who could possibly handle him, and they are all major figures who made their names long ago. That doctor just now couldn’t possibly have that kind of ability," Liu Xin said, his face etched with worry.

Most of the subordinates under Lan Xin’s command had been transferred with him from the Ten Thousand Meteor Star Domain Battlefield. They had absolute faith in his abilities.

Liu Xin still remembered the first time he fought alongside Lan Xin. An Exotic Beast horde was laying siege to the city, and the defending soldiers were exhausted from continuous fighting. The situation was critical. Lan Xin stood on the high wall of the fortress, his long, sea-blue hair fluttering in the wind. He formed a complex hand seal in front of his chest, and then, a surging wave of spiritual power erupted from his body.

An invisible barrier spread out from Lan Xin like ripples on water. The first to feel the change were the Mecha Warriors guarding the city gates.

The Mecha Warriors, who had been on the verge of spiritual power and physical exhaustion, suddenly felt their fatigue vanish as their bodies were flooded with newfound strength. They quickly swapped in reserve power sources for their Mechas and threw themselves back into the fray.

The ripples continued to spread, covering the entire city. The exhausted soldiers looked at each other in astonishment. Not only had their fatigue vanished, but their senses had become sharper, their bodies infused with what felt like infinite power. Their muscle fibers tensed like steel cables, yet their heartbeats remained as calm as a still lake.

Fear, hesitation, doubt—all the deadliest emotions on the battlefield—vanished, replaced by a fervent, adrenaline-fueled desire for battle.

A wounded soldier stared in shock at his injury. His arm was still bleeding, yet he felt no pain—only a slight numbness, as if he’d been injected with a powerful local anesthetic.

Reinforcements were delayed by a full three days in that battle. Without General Lan’s ability, he, Wang Cheng, and many others would never have made it out of that war alive.

Ever since that battle, he and Wang Cheng had followed General Lan, watching him grow, step by step, into the man he was today.

They later learned that the Talent Skill General Lan had used in that battle was called Boundless Illusion Sea, an extremely powerful Group Superpower. After he activated the Skill, all allied soldiers enveloped by it would experience reduced pain, have their spiritual power and stamina restored to peak levels, and gain heightened senses, increased agility, and double their overall combat effectiveness.

Of course, using such a powerful Skill came at a price. After activating it that time, General Lan fell into a coma for seven days. All the soldiers covered by the Skill, except for those who died in battle, fell into a state of extreme exhaustion and didn’t recover for three days.

But even with such side effects, there was no denying that Boundless Illusion Sea was an incredibly powerful Skill. After all, without its boost, they would never have been able to hold out for three days. The city would have fallen, and they would all have perished.

Wang Cheng shared Liu Xin’s concern. "Our C.O. is so incredible; he doesn’t deserve to be humiliated by some woman. That doctor may seem kind, but who knows what she’s really like in private? Let’s go check on the situation," Wang Cheng said.

"Let’s grab the data from the monitoring station first. We can bring a report with us," Liu Xin suggested.

"Good idea. Let’s go." The two were in perfect agreement and set off at once.

Ning Xuan had pulled Lan Xin up so quickly outside not because she felt sorry for him or wanted to save him from losing face in front of his subordinates, but because she didn’t want to expose her own identity.

"Master, I acted impulsively just now and nearly exposed your identity. My carelessness almost put you in danger. Please punish me." In the cold, austere office, Lan Xin knelt on the hard floor, humbly begging for punishment.

It was only when Ning Xuan pulled him up that Lan Xin realized she had called his name through their spiritual connection, inside his Sea of Consciousness. In that moment, he understood that she did not want to reveal their relationship in public.

"Get up. I brought you a whole bottle of Blood Cleansing Pills. I even added my own lifeblood to those Elixir Pills to clear your Mutated Value. Why is it so high? Didn’t you use them?" Ning Xuan asked, frowning with displeasure at the blue scales on Lan Xin’s wrist.

"Master, the Blood Cleansing Pills are very effective. It’s just... there are only three left in the bottle. I was afraid of an emergency and wanted to save them to protect my life, so I dared not use any more," Lan Xin said, his face filled with shame.

"Master, it’s not that I don’t treasure the Elixir Pills. It’s just that for the past three months, for some unknown reason, my Mutated Value has been rising again and again. I haven’t been overexerting my spiritual power or been exposed to severe contamination, yet my Mutated Value remains abnormal. That’s why I’ve wasted so many of the pills," Lan Xin hastily explained.
