Interstellar Era: Starting As a Cleaner

Chapter 99: Jinx Physique Reappears

Chapter 99: Chapter 99: Jinx Physique Reappears

"Captain Liu, my Fleet has lost over sixty percent of its forces, with thousands more missing. These are my compatriots and colleagues. I cannot just walk away from such heavy losses. Those two Sea Wolf Class pirate ships must remain here permanently. I leave the rest to you, Captain Liu. All the missions and data regarding the Super S-level operation are in the liaison boat above the planet," the woman on the screen said. She gave off an icy, unapproachable aura.

"Take care." Captain Liu naturally understood what she meant. To a Captain, their Fleet was their life. Although these losses occurred during a mission, they were unacceptable to any Captain. Only blood could wash away this humiliation.

"Thank you," the woman replied softly, and the screen went black.

Captain Liu gazed out at the distant starry sky. The two Sea Wolf Class Pirate Battleships were rapidly closing the distance. At that exact moment, the lone King Kong Class Warship launched countless escape pods.

The instant the pods shot out, the King Kong Class Warship suddenly pitched upward. In a flash, the entire Warship fragmented into 109 separate modules. These modular units varied greatly in size; their diameters ranged from dozens to hundreds of meters, with the largest stretching two to three hundred meters long and the smallest around a hundred or two. It turned out the entire Warship was constructed from independent modular units of varying sizes.

When the leaders of the two Sea Wolf Class Pirate Battleships saw this, their faces instantly drained of color. This was the equivalent of a giant shotgun being shoved right in their faces and fired point-blank!

"Fire! Why do these bastard Alliance Captains all have the temper of a mad dog? Fire!" One-Eyed and Baldy roared frantically.

The Sea Wolf Class Warships unleashed a dense barrage from their Laser Cannons, striking the modular units. In response, the scattered Warship units fired back with Lasers of their own. This was the modular units’ automated attack system kicking in. However, without the main Warship’s Energy supply backing them, the output of these Laser Cannons was significantly weaker.

Yet in the very next second, Baldy and One-Eyed turned deathly pale. The Fleet behind them—the one Yang Bo was stationed in—unleashed another intense volley of Lasers.

The Lasers fired by the two Sea Wolf Class Warships managed to blow up quite a few of the modular units. But this was deep in interstellar space. The shattered remnants of the Warship units continued hurtling toward the two Sea Wolf Class Warships at extreme speeds. It was just as accurate to say that the pirate Sea Wolf Class Warships had plunged headlong into the debris field of the King Kong Class Warship’s modular array.

Ear-piercing alarms blared across every corner of the Sea Wolf Class Warships.

Sustaining heavy fire with their thick Energy Shields flaring and alarms screaming, the two Sea Wolf Class Pirate Battleships managed to evade the King Kong Class Warship’s modular array. But before they could even catch their breath, they were struck by the Lasers fired from Yang Bo’s Fleet in the rear.

The two Sea Wolf Class Warships lost their Energy Shields instantly, having clearly taken critical hits. One of the Sea Wolf Class Warships had its thrusters blown completely apart, its rear half erupting in a dazzling, fiery explosion. Dense swarms of escape pods began ejecting from the two crippled Sea Wolf Class Pirate Battleships.

At that moment, drones launched from the disassembled King Kong Class Battleship units. Equipped with friend-or-foe identification systems, the drones fired precise beams of Lasers, striking the escape pods fleeing from the Pirate Battleships. Countless Pirates watched as Lasers pierced their escape pods, and then their vision went black.

Just as the Commander of Yang Bo’s Warship breathed a sigh of relief, shrill alarms echoed throughout the vessel. The Captain quickly checked the logs and discovered that several of their Warship’s modules had exploded simultaneously, causing the entire vessel’s speed to drop drastically.

"Damn it," Captain Liu cursed. "The rest of your Warships, hurry and annihilate the Pirates! You are unbound by wartime regulations. Kill every Pirate you see, including those in the escape pods," he commanded the other four Golden Mountain Class Warships while rapidly operating the control console.

"We are members of the Red Earl! The glory of the Count shines across all interstellar space!" a broadcast echoed. Captain Liu swiftly accessed the Intelligent System of the compromised modules and saw dozens of people piloting Mechas, massacring the crew indiscriminately. Shockingly, the Warship’s internal defense systems had also been sabotaged.

"The Red Earl." Captain Liu’s face contorted in shock. How did these bastards sneak onto the Warship? And why were they going crazy and destroying it now?

Meanwhile, the escape pods ejected from the exploded modules were being retrieved by numerous drones. Only a small fraction of the pods were catapulted toward the Green Demon Planet.

Meanwhile.

"Holy shit." Yang Bo was completely dumbfounded. Just moments ago, he had heard a series of piercing alarms in his cabin. When the alarms stopped, he thought everything was fine. But suddenly, the entire cabin exploded, and he was violently sucked out by a massive rush of air.

Just as Yang Bo was about to summon his Battle Armor, a rescue robot flew over and forcefully shoved him into an escape pod.

Trapped inside the escape pod, Yang Bo watched helplessly as he detached from the massive Warship. He could clearly see that several modules had completely detonated, though the rest of the vessel remained intact.

Further in the distance, there were even larger Warships surrounded by countless debris. Dense beams of Lasers flashed across the void as Warplanes actively strafed the fleeing escape pods.

He thought, "What the f*ck is going on? How could something like this happen inside a Warship?" Yang Bo watched the other escape pods behind him being towed back by drones one by one. Yet, not a single drone came for his pod. He was drifting further and further from the Warship, heading straight toward an emerald-green planet in the distance.

Looking up into the starry sky, Yang Bo saw countless Warplanes launching from the other Warships in his Fleet. The Warplanes were swarming directly toward his direction.

When he spotted a Warplane flying toward him, he thought it was coming to rescue him. To his surprise, the aircraft completely bypassed him, speeding off to fire at the escape pods ejected by the distant enemy Warships.

He thought, "Aren’t we supposed to treat prisoners of war humanely? Aren’t people in escape pods exempt from attack?" Yang Bo was still trying to grasp the situation. It was strictly forbidden to fire on occupied escape pods, so why were the pods launched from those two enemy Warships being mercilessly slaughtered?

Shivering, Yang Bo watched as at least ten thousand Warplanes swarmed the enemy’s escape pods. As the enemy pods approached the planet, they were blown to pieces one after another.

The enemy deployed Warplanes of their own, but unfortunately for them, Yang Bo’s side had the combined airpower of four Warships, whereas the enemy only had a fraction of the Warplanes from two.

Trembling, Yang Bo witnessed a fierce dogfight unfold. Warplanes from both sides wove through the void, exchanging fire while simultaneously trying to destroy each other’s escape pods.

About half an hour later, Yang Bo stared at the rapidly approaching green planet.

"F*ck me." Only as he neared the planet did Yang Bo realize its outer orbit was littered with wreckage. This used to be the planetary defense system. He thought, "The entire planetary defense system has been completely destroyed. Has a full-scale war broken out here?" However, Yang Bo had no time to ponder. The escape pod strictly followed its automated programming, hurtling straight toward the green planet.

As the escape pod plunged into the atmosphere, Yang Bo saw many other pods streaking down alongside him. The friction with the atmosphere turned them into red meteors plummeting toward the surface. From space, countless Warplanes also dove toward the ground, firing beams of Lasers. In the distance, people and Mechas could be seen taking hits and erupting into flames.

He thought, "What kind of planet is this? There’s an active ground war going on..." Yang Bo’s face turned pale. What kind of hellhole had he just landed in? Why hadn’t he heard any news about a war breaking out within the Alliance’s territory?

A massive parachute deployed, guiding Yang Bo’s escape pod down to the planet’s surface. What entered his vision was a vast, endless prairie, though the grass was surprisingly tall.

"Air quality: Excellent. Contains trace amounts of unknown radiation Energy. It is advised that the citizen wait in place for rescue." The escape pod settled onto the prairie, and soon, the voice of the Intelligent System echoed inside.

Yang Bo reached out and opened the escape pod hatch. A gust of fresh air rushed against his face.

"What kind of prairie is this? Why is it so tall?" Yang Bo muttered, speechless as he stared at the blades of grass towering seven or eight meters high.
