Chapter 97: 1st Time Experiencing a Spatial Jump
Chapter 97: Chapter 97: 1st Time Experiencing a Spatial Jump
All technological products were upgraded little by little. Just like the radars on Earth in the past—if a target’s distance, range, or size fell outside their detection capabilities, it truly couldn’t be detected.
The same applied to sonars detecting enemy submarines. Without knowing the acoustic signature of the enemy submarine, as long as its noise didn’t exceed the ocean’s ambient noise, it would remain completely undetectable. However, once its acoustic signature was acquired, even amidst the ocean’s noise, one could easily identify exactly which submarine it was.
"Too terrifying. I’m not going to wander around anymore. As long as nothing happens, I’ll just say Amitabha. If something does happen, I’ll deal with it then." Returning to his room, Yang Bo broke out in a cold sweat from sheer fright.
"No, I still have to find a way to get biological samples from these soldiers."
Superpower Users basically didn’t naturally shed hair or leave behind other biological samples. Yang Bo himself didn’t lose a single strand of hair. If he wanted to collect someone else’s biological sample, there was simply no other good way unless he took it by force.
Over the past few days, Yang Bo had been trying to find a way to obtain a biological sample. Unfortunately, he hadn’t succeeded. Back then, he hadn’t wanted to risk exposing himself. However, after encountering a Major General this time, his sense of unease grew.
Terrified that the man might see right through him, Yang Bo knew there was a type of Superpower User in this world with incredibly formidable Spiritual Power. Their perception was extremely sharp, sharper than many advanced detection devices.
"Whose biological sample should I get?" Since Yang Bo had decided to act, he naturally needed to choose a target.
There were plenty of candidates on this Warship. The soldiers had various roles, ranging from maintenance workers to Mecha Masters, Warplane Pilots, and Weapon operators.
The maintenance workers here primarily operated machinery to perform repairs. Warships were incredibly massive, and different types of damage required maintenance workers to operate machines to fix them. This was because during a war, if the Warship’s hull was shattered, the enemy’s electronic jamming could very likely disrupt the Automatic Robots designed for repairs. At such times, maintenance workers were needed to manually operate them and issue commands.
"I’ll go take a look first."
"If all else fails, I’ll choose someone from the Red Earl and launch an attack first, forcing the Red Earl’s people to expose themselves." Yang Bo had thought it through clearly and had a contingency plan; he wasn’t just going to sit there and wait passively.
His ultimate resort was simple: weren’t the Red Earl’s people hiding here? He would just actively expose them and see how long they could stay hidden, or whether they could actually take control of this Fleet. Of course, if the Warship could be controlled by the Red Earl’s people, Yang Bo could instantly switch identities and become a member of the Red Earl himself.
In such dangerous times, staying alive was the top priority. No matter what methods he used, the worst-case scenario was just turning back to being a Pirate. Having an exit strategy, Yang Bo felt a little nervous, but he was mostly rational.
Yang Bo waited near the cafeteria during the guards’ shift change, looking for an opportunity. Unfortunately, while there were many people eating, everything was highly organized. All meals were delivered directly by robots.
Throughout the entire process, though anxious, he couldn’t find a single opening. There was even a dedicated Laser Cannon stationed in the corridor outside the restroom. Faintly, Yang Bo felt this Warship’s design might involve a huge secret, though he had no idea what it actually was.
"Are they really this strict internally?" Yang Bo didn’t quite understand, but there had to be a reason for it.
Soon, Yang Bo discovered a bug—a systemic loophole he could exploit.
In the residential area where the civilians lived, whenever certain goods ran out, robots would restock them from elsewhere. During this process, the passageway guarded by soldiers would open. Yang Bo began observing closely and noticed that the people’s favorite item was a beverage similar to coffee.
This drink was restocked almost once a day. After some quick mental calculations, he realized there were only a few cartons left, and mealtime was fast approaching.
This time, Yang Bo trailed behind the soldiers heading for their meal and arrived at the maintenance cabin for Mechas and Warplanes. He waited there. Half an hour later, true to his expectations, the soldiers began returning one after another. These men wore Battle Armors. The Battle Armors could protect the soldiers, allowing them to survive in a vacuum environment and preventing massive casualties in the event the Warship was destroyed.
"Next, proceed with training according to the schedule," the leading captain ordered.
"Yes, sir." Over a dozen soldiers immediately began their maintenance work.
Watching the captain head to a side cabin, Yang Bo approached a man who was crawling into a Warplane for repairs. He memorized the soldier’s ID number on his Battle Armor and conveniently plucked two strands of hair from him.
The soldier felt his hair get pulled but didn’t pay it any mind. After all, dealing with these hunks of Metal, it was normal for things to snag occasionally.
There was also a member of the Red Earl here. This guy was currently dismantling a Mecha. As he lowered his head, he felt his hair snag on something. Looking up, he wondered if he had gotten too close to the Mecha. He felt a bit suspicious, but seeing everyone else busy with their own tasks, he simply touched his Battle Armor Helmet.
Having obtained biological samples from both men, Yang Bo quickly slipped away. He arrived at the passageway leading back to his living quarters and waited for about ten minutes. Sure enough, the restocking Automatic Robot arrived.
Following the restocking robot back to his quarters, Yang Bo looked at the hairs in his hand and carefully placed them into his inner pocket, making sure to tie them into knots.
One knot for the Pirate Leader, two knots for the Warplane maintenance worker, and three knots for the Red Earl member...
"I only had the Red Earl’s Battle Armor before, but now I even have the person. Hehe, if the Red Earl gains power, I’ll be one of their own." Yang Bo felt significantly more relaxed. No matter who seized power, he wasn’t afraid. As for the Red Earl’s style of doing things, surviving was the priority right now...
Just then, a broadcast echoed through the cabin: "Citizens, please do not leave your quarters. The Warship is preparing for a spatial jump. Citizens, please enter your cabins and remain calm. The Warship is preparing for a spatial jump. Jump countdown: fifteen minutes."
Hearing this, Yang Bo felt a surge of excitement. A Warship jump? A spatial jump? A Space Wormhole?
Yang Bo had no idea what the underlying principles were. All he knew was that it was incredibly badass technology.
The door to Yang Bo’s cabin closed automatically. Only then did he realize, "All that bullshit in the past about regular residents being unsuited for space travel was just the government not wanting to deal with the trouble."
Because if regular residents traveled in space, the costs would be relatively high. When the time came, the residents would look at it and say, "Hey, we’re all citizens, so why is my ticket price three times higher than someone else’s? This company is discriminating against us! Let’s sue them!"
Things like this happened all the time in reality. Some people would buy a standing ticket, board the train, and sit down in someone else’s seat. When the actual owner arrived, they would refuse to get up, arguing things like, "I paid money too, we’re all equal," and so on... And honestly, they kind of had a point.
"What does a spatial jump look like?" Listening to the voice on the broadcast, Yang Bo felt a sense of anticipation.
