Chapter 94: Not Optimistic
“What a disaster!” Yang Bo returned to his dorm and sat there in a daze, feeling as if ten thousand alpacas were stampeding through his mind.
The unique aura of those from the Red Earl was just like seeing those stiff, old-fashioned aristocratic butlers from the West back on Earth. No matter how such a butler dressed, as long as he stood there, you would instantly know he served some Noble!
Although Yang Bo didn’t want to believe there were actually Red Earl members aboard an Alliance Warship, the last time he killed their people, they had dropped Skills related to Warship repair and the like!
“There’s probably a ninety-nine percent chance they’re from the Red Earl. Talk about bad luck. Let’s just hope these guys are only laying low and not planning to stir up trouble!” Yang Bo had no solutions at the moment. How strict was the internal defense of a military vessel like this?
One only needed to look at the Laser Cannons to know. Besides, these strangers were living right here!
“If I had known, I wouldn’t have left Pado Star. What on earth have I been running into along the way? At least on Pado Star, if something happened, I could run to the outskirts. This Warship is only so big; what will I do if things go south?
“Maybe the Red Earl’s people are just laying low and won’t cause trouble for now!
“It’s all because my Disguise ability is too strong. I can instantly recognize the aura of these Red Earl guys with a single glance!
“What terrible luck!”
Now, let alone playing games, just sitting there made him feel like something could go wrong at any moment. But he couldn’t just pace around either; there were definitely surveillance devices in the room.
After sitting on pins and needles for an hour, Yang Bo made a bold decision. “I’ll use Invisibility to go out and take a look. As long as I don’t approach the core areas of the Warship, the defense detection systems probably won’t be that insane. Besides, this is the perfect time to test my Invisibility Ability!”
Glancing at the closed door, Yang Bo first opened it, stepped out to grab a book, and then returned, leaving the door ajar while he pretended to read.
He definitely had to put on a show. Looking at the book in his hands, he realized it was actually a botany book detailing various types of plants.
Forcing himself to calm down, he pondered while reading. *If there really are too many people from the Red Earl, what should I do?*
Yang Bo guessed that the Red Earl’s members most likely wouldn’t cause a scene; after all, it wasn’t easy to infiltrate the military. But at the same time, he worried about the current state of the Alliance. If the military had already been infiltrated by the Red Earl, what about the government?
“There’s definitely a problem back on Pado Star!” This time, Yang Bo was even more certain. If the Red Earl had people in the military, infiltrating the government would be even easier.
For two consecutive days, Yang Bo kept his door open and read for a few hours. On the third day, he left the door halfway open to make it seem like he was reading inside. Then, he went into the bathroom. His Battle Armor was in his Mecha Space, but he didn’t plan to use it. Instead, he turned invisible completely naked and sneaked out.
Yang Bo inched his way out. Seeing no anomalies, he headed toward the corridor guarded by soldiers.
The doors to the corridor were closed, but according to Yang Bo’s observations, it was about time for a shift change. He waited there for a few minutes, and sure enough, the soldiers swapped shifts. Taking advantage of the transition, Yang Bo followed the off-duty soldiers to see where they were going.
There was a high probability they were heading to eat. Each shift change took about half an hour, after which these soldiers would return to their posts.
Entering the corridor, he was surrounded by Metal walls that emitted a silvery-white glow under the lights. Following two of the soldiers, he indeed arrived at the dining hall, where hundreds of people were currently eating.
As the soldiers took off their Battle Armor Helmets, he saw their diverse appearances. They weren’t all handsome men and beautiful women. Genetic Evolvers also had uncontrollable traits—just like his boss’s obesity and baldness. Because one’s genes were enhanced, perhaps the gene for baldness became even stronger. The same applied to being overweight.
The majority, however, were attractive. With their blonde hair and varied skin tones ranging from tanned to fair, they were quite a feast for the eyes.
Yang Bo carefully observed the dining hall. The ceiling was over a dozen meters high, and there were several Laser Cannons installed. He began to stroll around the room.
“Five percent are Red Earl members!” Yang Bo instantly recognized them among the diners and carefully estimated their ratio.
For some reason, there were many redheads and blondes—making up about half of the crowd—but Yang Bo could spot the Red Earl members at a glance. He felt that even though these people shared the same red or blonde hair, their underlying aura simply couldn’t be concealed. They could just casually sit there, their movements looking no different from anyone else’s, yet Yang Bo would instinctively know that they belonged to the Red Earl.
Yang Bo approached two higher-ranking soldiers who were chatting as they ate.
“It’s really something. We picked up so many residents along the way, and we’ll still have to send them back later. It’s added a lot to our workload!” one of them complained.
“Exactly. And who knows what mission we’re on this time? The higher-ups won’t say a word, leaving us completely in the dark.”
“With such a massive formation and full radio silence the entire way, the mission level shouldn’t be low.”
“I have no idea. There weren’t any briefings either. I just boarded the Warship as soon as I got the notice. It was a huge rush this time. There must be some emergency, but I don’t even know where our route is taking us!”
“Who cares? With our Fleet’s setup, we have enough firepower to fight a war against another nation!”
“Those residents were just unlucky to run into the Silver Moon Pirates. But that Sheriff from March Star is seriously impressive, single-handedly wiping out the Pirate Gang!”
“These Pirate Gangs are like rats. If we could actually locate them, any single one of our Warships could blast them all into space junk!”
“Yeah, a Pirate’s only advantage is their ability to hide anywhere. But I heard this time it involves the immigration policies of two Administrative Stars!”
“It’s probably something the financial conglomerates in the Council are doing behind the scenes. If these Pirates didn’t have countless ties to those conglomerates, they would have been eradicated ages ago!”
“Speaking of that, I’ve heard some Pirates actually belong to certain agencies, tasked specifically with plundering strategic supplies!”
“Don’t go spouting that nonsense. Be careful!”
Hearing their conversation, Yang Bo wondered to himself, “What kind of secret mission is this?”
He then took the opportunity to survey the dining hall. The design was extremely minimalist without any flashy decorations, consisting entirely of plain Metal colors. However, it still had the necessary amenities, including music and entertainment facilities. As for the soldiers, their food seemed to consist mostly of pre-packaged meals.
Following two on-duty soldiers, he exited through the corridor and returned to his room. He carefully pondered everything he had just witnessed. For now, he had no better options. His only plan was to tag along behind people heading to the dining hall every day and stroll around to scout the layout.
