Chapter 63: A Head Full of Question Marks
Chapter 63: Chapter 63: A Head Full of Question Marks
Muttering to himself, Yang Bo kept his eyes glued to the radar, which displayed the underwater movement of a school of fish. Although he didn’t know what exactly had happened during his last fish-bombing attempt, the only way for anyone to sneak up on him here was from underwater.
Last time, his radar had completely failed to detect the Mutants. However, the distribution pattern of the fish indicated that someone was down there. The perception of a school of fish was far superior to that of the radar.
Sure enough, it didn’t take long for Yang Bo to notice a change in the fish. The blood and flesh of the fish he had just bombed had attracted quite a few more. They had initially scattered towards the area, but now he could see some of them rapidly dodging away, leaving a blank space in their wake. What was this? There was definitely a situation. He watched as the unknown entities drew closer and closer to him.
At this moment, Yang Bo spotted Mechas approaching from behind on his radar. He instantly flew to the opposite bank of the river. He had specifically chosen the spot where a river flowed into the lake. Upon landing, Yang Bo pulled out two Miniature Hydrogen Bombs. He then watched as over a dozen Advanced Mechas landed on the opposite bank exactly where he had just been standing. A few others had vanished to who knew where.
"Pervert! You dead pervert!" suddenly cursed a sissy voice. It came from a red Mecha that looked like a ball of fire, using its Mecha’s External Release function while pointing its mechanical finger straight at him.
Yang Bo casually shook the Miniature Hydrogen Bombs in his hand, clipped them onto his body, and flipped them the middle finger!
"Pervert!"
"Scum."
"Animal."
"Bastard!" several of the opposing Mechas cursed in unison.
At this time, another wave of Mechas arrived. Seeing this, Yang Bo activated his Mecha’s Rocket Backpack and soared into mid-air. He then went into a dive, pulling the safety pins on the two Miniature Hydrogen Bombs in his hands. When he was about a hundred meters above the lake’s surface, his Mecha swerved sharply, dropping the two hydrogen bombs rapidly into the water.
"Haha!"
"Haha, awesome!"
"This brother is too badass! Bomb them!" members of the Bird Slaying Gang burst into laughter on the Mecha channel upon seeing this scene.
BOOM! BOOM!
The two Miniature Hydrogen Bombs exploded underwater, but this time, Yang Bo felt something different.
"When I was piloting the Mecha just now, the flight felt incredibly smooth. Could it be an effect of the Flying Skill?" Yang Bo wondered to himself.
The Justice Gang was live-streaming, and the first reaction of countless viewers upon seeing Yang Bo use a hydrogen bomb to blow up fish was that he was crazy.
"Holy crap, is this guy insane? Going out of his way to blow up fish? Do Miniature Hydrogen Bombs not cost Game Coins?"
"I think he’s sick in the head too."
"Definitely a psychopath."
"Exactly. Maybe he’s some celebrity in real life coming into the game to vent. I’ve heard some celebrities are total perverts."
"Tsk, tsk, something’s not right..."
However, in the very next second, everyone realized what was wrong. Amidst the massive water waves propelled by the Miniature Hydrogen Bombs, over a dozen figures charged straight at the members of the Justice Gang.
"Mutants!"
"Advanced Mutants."
The viewers watching the live stream were dumbfounded. How the hell did Mutants suddenly appear here?
"Damn, those are Mutants from the danger zone!" The Bird Slaying Gang had initially come just to watch the drama, never expecting such a sudden plot twist.
"Boss, what do we do?"
"We can’t shoot! These guys are completely entangled with the Justice Gang."
"The boss is right, let’s fly higher."
"Yeah, it’s not like we’re long-range snipers." The players of the Bird Slaying Gang claimed they weren’t long-range fighters, despite carrying Laser Cannons.
"Right, let’s fly higher."
They subsequently flew high into the sky, recording videos and enjoying the show.
The Justice Gang lost three Advanced Mechas in the very first clash. The arms of this group of Mutants had transformed into two massive scythes, much like a praying mantis, glowing with a faint green light. These creatures stood over two meters tall.
"Boss, the Justice Gang is just a bunch of little brats. Losing three Mechas in a single face-off, tsk tsk."
"Haha, these guys even sent Advanced Mechas to lure out Mutant Creatures. Who would’ve thought they’d be the first to get screwed over?" The Mecha channel up in the sky was bustling with excitement.
These Mutants were incredibly fast. Leaping out of the water, the three strongest ones directly jumped onto three Advanced Mechas. The red Mecha was the first victim; a scythe glowing with green light pierced its Mecha cockpit in a flash, simultaneously decapitating the Mecha’s head. The Mecha’s head integrated a multitude of equipment and was forged from the hardest Metal, yet it was cleanly chopped off by this Mutant.
These Mechas had just been busy insulting Yang Bo. Little did they know that over a dozen Mutants would charge out in an instant, causing the alarms inside their Mechas to blare deafeningly. Some players instinctively pushed their control sticks, sending their Mechas flying into the air or retreating backward, narrowly escaping the disaster. The rest, however, were pounced on by two or three other Mutants and slaughtered in the blink of an eye.
Then, in the very next second, these Mutants dove directly into the water on the ground and vanished. The water waves triggered by the explosion of the two hydrogen bombs just moments ago were several meters high, surging powerfully toward the lake’s shores.
Yang Bo made no move against the Mutants. First of all, he wasn’t confident he could win; the opponents were simply too fast. Secondly, in his eyes, enemies out in the open weren’t terrifying. Besides, even if he killed the Mutants himself, he might only be rewarded with some garbage Skill. It was far better to agitate these Mutants and use them to continue screwing over these annoying guys.
Yang Bo recorded the voices of the people who cursed him. If he ever got the chance to meet them, it would be fine if they turned out to be good people in reality. But if they were even the slightest bit wicked, he would personally show them why he was called the Bird Slayer Brother...
However, what puzzled Yang Bo was that this wave of people seemed to be divided into two factions. The dozen or so hovering several hundred meters in the sky, fully armed with Laser Guns and Laser Cannons, simply watched and refused to help.
"Brother, you’re amazing!" These dozen Mechas didn’t look very high-end; they appeared to be seventh or eighth-generation models. One of them turned on its External Release and gave Yang Bo a thumbs up.
Yang Bo was a bit startled. What were these guys up to?
"Ah!!! Shameless, despicable, bastards!"
The members of the Justice Gang were going crazy. They had just lost another eleven Mechas—all Advanced Mechas at that—and they were once again destroyed by Mutants.
"They deserved it."
"Exactly, a bunch of idiots. Even playing a game, they never shut up."
"True that."
"Brothers, let’s log off and hit the forums. These idiots from the Justice Gang have completely humiliated themselves."
Yang Bo watched as the group of Mechas armed with Laser Guns and Laser Cannons simply flew away.
"You bastard, just you wait." The first group that had arrived dropped a parting threat before leaving as well.
Looking at the wrecked Mechas on the ground, Yang Bo shrugged. The Iron Bull’s rations were secured. He directly spent one hundred thousand Game Coins to rent a flying transport ship, ferrying the eleven battered Mechas to the territory of the Silver Armor Rhinoceros.
The personnel at the base were left speechless. The pricing for the flying transport ship was based on the danger level of the zones it traversed. Although Yang Bo transported the cargo over a long distance, the vast majority of the route fell within safe zones, resulting in an extremely low fee.
"Commander, the analysis is out. Based on the video data, these Mutants should belong to the mysterious Black Blade Tribe." Back at the base, someone reported to the Commander.
"The Black Blade Tribe? To think that the Black Blade Tribe actually lives underwater. But how did the Blade Mecha know about this?" The base Commander frowned. Could it all have been a mere coincidence?
"Commander, do you think it’s possible that the player inside the Blade Mecha is a veteran? It’s not like we don’t have retired veterans around here. Even though we implemented certain interference measures to erase those memories from the veterans, a measure is still just a measure," someone asked.
"Lately, for some unknown reason, we haven’t been able to contact the Fleet Commander." The base Commander looked up at the starry sky, somewhat hesitant.
Yang Bo dumped the Mecha wreckage one by one at the entrance of the Iron Bull’s cave. The Iron Bull stared at the mountain of Mechas with its small eyes, completely in disbelief.
Once the transport ship flew away, Yang Bo finally called out, "Iron Bull, I’ve come to see you! What do you think of these things?"
Hearing Yang Bo’s voice, the Iron Bull immediately understood. It then turned its head and retreated into the cave.
"What good stuff will the Iron Bull give me this time?" Yang Bo wondered inwardly.
