Chapter 51: Hey Hey
Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Hey Hey
Of course, this couldn’t be seen on the surface since a mask covered his face.
The category of Energy Weapons was quite a mixed bag. Countless Genetic Evolvers had appeared throughout human history. Even if only a tenth of them possessed Energy Weapons, the accumulated inventory would still be a staggering number.
An Energy Weapon required compatibility with one’s own Energy Activation. There was no way of knowing who the original owners of these weapons were—they could have belonged to Low Level Evolvers, Advanced ones, or even Top Level ones.
Naturally, there were also those with a legacy. Weapons that had been used by renowned figures and passed down through generations commanded astronomical prices.
Most Genetic Evolvers kept their abilities a closely guarded secret. Even among those with Electric Energy, their areas of expertise could be entirely different.
However, the vast majority of Energy Weapons were simply displayed here like a pile of junk. This was the extent of the knowledge Yang Bo had gathered.
Despite looking like junk, each piece cost ten million Credit Points. That’s right!
The price of Energy Metal itself was already steep, let alone when forged into a weapon. Furthermore, purchasing them here didn’t require registration. However, it wasn’t recommended for Ordinary residents to buy them because Energy Metal emitted a certain level of radiation. Many of these Energy Weapons had been scavenged from battlefields—mostly space battlefields.
The company selling these Energy Weapons was Sanmu Resource Recycling Company. Tasked with recycling space debris, it was an enterprise with a military background. Although its market value wasn’t massive, it was said to possess formidable strength.
Yang Bo felt that the Eden Alliance was like a magnified version of the United States on Earth, where various consortiums and mega-corporations controlled every aspect of society.
Yang Bo spotted a Hammer that resembled Mjolnir. He tried to pick it up, but surprisingly failed.
He exerted a little force... It didn’t budge.
He tried even harder... Still nothing.
Yang Bo gasped. *Just how heavy was this thing?* If it weighed several tons, coupled with a bit of momentum, wouldn’t it completely obliterate a Mecha?
Next was a Knight’s Sword. Yang Bo picked it up; it felt feather-light, lacking any substantial weight.
There were javelin-like Energy Weapons, massive broadswords, Short Swords, and even Metal whips. The majority, however, were swords and sabers of peculiar designs.
The entire shop housed at least five or six hundred weapons. Among them were massive polearms like Knight’s Lances, and even a two-meter-tall giant axe.
"Huh?" Yang Bo touched an Energy Weapon shaped like a Tang Saber. The moment his skin made contact, he felt as if the Energy within his body was surging outward.
Yet, the saber looked as though it were forged from Bronze. It had no patterns, no engravings, and no symbols. It was utterly simple, with a hilt that also appeared to be made of Bronze.
As Yang Bo channeled a trace of his own Energy into it, the blade actually emitted a faint, fluorescent glow.
"Congratulations, sir. This Energy Weapon is exceptionally suited to you. Your compatibility with it should be over ninety percent." At that moment, the shop owner lifted his Virtual Game Helmet, which resembled a motorcycle sun visor from Earth. He was a middle-aged, yellow-skinned bald man.
"Thank you. Mind if I look around a bit more?" Yang Bo nodded and asked.
"Of course," the middle-aged man nodded, then went right back to his game.
In this world, anyone with a bald head was no Ordinary person. If even a Genetic Potion couldn’t regrow their hair, it meant they possessed some kind of Superpower.
Yang Bo touched the rest of the items one by one, but found no other compatible weapons.
There were also quite a few Battle Armors to the side. They came in all varieties, leaning more toward modern aesthetics rather than ancient designs. They were sleek and form-fitting, reminiscent of Iron Man’s suit.
"Is this Exotic Beast skin?" Some of the Battle Armors incorporated leather. Yang Bo reached out and touched one.
Whoa!
That feeling returned. Yang Bo walked away without showing any change in expression. Purchasing Battle Armor required real-name registration. Put simply, modern technology didn’t fear you wielding weapons; it feared you having defense.
Just like in Mei on Earth, the police might not be shocked to hear you have a gun, but if you’re hiding heavy body armor, the consequences would be severe.
In other words, with a Battle Armor, there was a high probability that drone police wouldn’t be able to do anything to you.
So, was Yang Bo going to just give up on it?
How could he? Wasn’t Liu Zhijie about to leave? He could simply come back and take it before then—use his Invisibility and just take it.
"If the Red Earl attacks again, maybe I can snatch it during the chaos," Yang Bo thought as he took the Tang Saber he had chosen and paid the ten million Credit Points directly.
One might wonder: could someone track him down through the payment?
It was possible, but highly unlikely. The financial system in this world boasted the utmost privacy. Unless a company wanted its stock prices to plummet or face government prosecution, they wouldn’t dare.
It simply wasn’t worth the risk for these financial firms just to expose one Yang Bo. To put it bluntly, who knew how many A-rank Genetic Evolvers were backing these companies?
Someone might ask: what if another company demanded the information?
The probability was equally low. Don’t forget, a capitalist’s greatest enemy was their peers. Could you guarantee that handing over information wouldn’t result in your rival immediately destroying you?
Unless Yang Bo’s influence grew to the point where the financial firms had to take him seriously...
If that were the case, would Yang Bo still fear exposure? Don’t joke around.
Yang Bo left with a long, rectangular backpack containing his new weapon. The gaming shop owner, or perhaps just a staff member, didn’t even spare him a second glance.
Yang Bo suspected that these weapons had probably already been picked through, much like gambling on uncut jade...
But it didn’t matter. Having a weapon was always better than having none.
After stepping off the bus, Yang Bo sensed something was off. Someone was watching him.
By the time he reached the entrance of his community, he was certain someone was tailing him. The feeling was profoundly mystical. Yang Bo went straight back to the ground floor of his building. Seizing the moment the door opened and closed, he spotted a woman. The sound of her footsteps had been Tracking him the entire way.
"Who is she?" Yang Bo thought as he returned to his apartment. The woman was wearing a hoodie and a mask. He could only tell she was female, but couldn’t make out her appearance.
Yang Bo walked over to the window, snapped his fingers, and closed his eyes.
He quickly pinpointed the woman’s trail. She also lived in the community, residing in a building about a hundred and fifty meters away from his.
"Very well," Yang Bo thought. He decided to investigate this woman’s background. This was already the umpteenth time.
"Judging by her style, she shouldn’t be with the Red Earl. Those guys act like psychopaths."
Yang Bo decided to inspect his new Energy Weapon first. After taking it out, he channeled a tiny amount of Energy into it. He couldn’t input too much; since Energy Weapons highly integrated and compressed one’s Energy, massive Energy Fluctuations would be too conspicuous.
"Huh?" Yang Bo took a closer look and noticed that the pommel of the hilt seemed hollow.
He twisted it open and confirmed it was indeed empty. Examining the size of the cavity, Yang Bo slapped his forehead.
He took out the Mecha Space Button and pried off the Homogeneous Energy Stone. As for how he pried it—with a forceful snap, the Mecha Space Button deformed.
He stuffed the Homogeneous Energy Stone into the hilt. Surprisingly, the entire blade slowly turned gray. Then, with a mere thought from Yang Bo...
Whoa!
The Tang Saber vanished from his hand, but he could sense that it seemed to be with his Mecha.
Another thought crossed his mind.
Whoa! It reappeared in his hand.
"Does that mean once I get my hands on that Battle Armor, I won’t have to strip to use Invisibility anymore?!" he wondered in excitement.
