Interstellar Era: Starting As a Cleaner

Chapter 124 - 125: Stirring Up Trouble

Chapter 124: Chapter 125: Stirring Up Trouble

However, there were also aspects he was unsatisfied with. Whether he used Electric Energy or Fire Energy, both required a charging process. The time needed varied depending on the target—unlike dealing with these ordinary rats, which required no charging time at all.

Furthermore, the mental energy consumption was quite high. Theoretically, he could lock onto any target within a thousand meters. Combined with Sound Wave Detection, he was practically invincible, but doing so consumed a massive amount of energy.

Additionally, Fire Energy had a shortcoming: its flying speed after release was slow. Yang Bo felt that at a distance of a hundred meters, he could easily dodge it himself. When it came to speed, Light Energy and Electric Energy were the fastest.

As for Sound Waves, they could be enhanced with energy, allowing their speed to be fast or slow. Yang Bo was quite satisfied with this.

There was another downside to the others, though. Fire, light, and electricity were all highly conspicuous. The moment you released them, you became the flashiest guy in the room. In contrast, Sound Waves were extremely stealthy.

Yang Bo snapped his fingers.

POP! Inside a rock crevice five hundred meters away, a rat’s head exploded.

For this strike, Yang Bo had used energy enhancement; his fingers were already charged the moment he snapped them.

"In a lawful society, I should use Sound Wave Attacks."

"On this kind of planet... it’s better to have a few more aliases." Initially, Yang Bo had imagined wielding lightning in his left hand, fire in his right, and spewing Light Energy from his mouth, unleashing a barrage of attacks on anyone who crossed him. However, practically speaking, that wasn’t appropriate. Displaying only one attribute at a time was much better for concealing his identity.

Yang Bo had also grasped some control over Gravity. Reaching out a hand, a stone on the ground levitated. The next second, the stone instantly accelerated and flew outward.

BOOM!

A loud crash echoed in the distance.

As the first step, Yang Bo had applied Anti-Gravity beneath the stone, causing it to levitate. For the second step, he applied an upward Gravity Field above it, effectively sucking the stone upward. Finally, to launch it, he applied a massive Gravity Field in front of the stone and an Anti-Gravity field behind it. The immense pulling force of Gravity shot the stone forward like a bullet.

"This isn’t bad either," Yang Bo nodded. This was the preliminary application of Gravity.

There was another piece of good news: Yang Bo was capable of Flying. That’s right. After mastering Gravity, he could fly around like Superman.

As for transforming into a bird to fly, it wasn’t that Yang Bo hadn’t tried it before. Unfortunately, he only gained the appearance of a bird without the actual ability to fly. His clumsy, stumbling movements made it obvious that something was wrong. Moreover, his flying speed in bird form was lacking. It wasn’t nearly as fast as the Anti-Gravity speed in his human form. The only drawback was that the personal energy consumption was too high.

"The easy targets are here." Yang Bo suddenly heard a commotion and chuckled.

Two Mutants, wearing Battle Armor and gripping weapons, approached with rather timid steps.

"Boss, can we go back now?"

"No way. We haven’t reached the patrol point yet. If the King finds out, he’ll beat us up."

"But Boss, the captain and the others were attacked by an Exotic Beast."

"Don’t listen to their bullshit. They probably tried to rob someone and got beaten up instead." Mutants frequently robbed each other. As long as no one was killed, the tribal leaders turned a blind eye to these activities, making minor friction a common occurrence. Of course, unless a tribe was absolutely confident in annexing another, going to war meant third parties would take advantage of the situation. For instance, the Tiger-faced King normally wouldn’t dare to act arrogantly in front of his neighbors; he had only made his move because he saw an opportunity to swallow the opposing tribe whole.

To be precise, this Underworld was a realm where the strong preyed on the weak, yet it still maintained a shred of order.

"Boss, I don’t think that’s the case..." The two Mutants were patrolling their territory to prevent other tribes from sneaking in to steal things. In the Underworld, no one could say for sure where treasures might be hidden. A collapsed cliff face might reveal some Energy Stones or other valuables.

"Who’s there?" Right at that moment, the Mutant walking in front spotted a figure entirely encased in Energy Armor. He immediately raised his Energy Weapon and shouted.

"Robbery!" the figure spat out.

This person was none other than Yang Bo. He had discovered that although the Underworld seemed boundaryless, borders actually existed, actively monitored by tribal patrols. Furthermore, he found that patrol squads from different tribes would clash at a moment’s notice. However, they rarely killed each other. After beating their opponents, they would strip them of everything—even their Energy Armor and Energy Weapons—forcing them to return nearly butt-naked. Initially, this had surprised Yang Bo, but after witnessing it a few times, he grasped the unspoken rules.

Hearing his declaration, the two patrolling Mutants didn’t waste a single word and instantly activated their Energy Armor. Under normal circumstances, Energy Armor contained no inherent energy and required support from the wearer’s internal reserves. Once charged, a faint glow emanated from the armor.

Charge!

Yang Bo had developed his own combat doctrine. In this confined environment, the Charge ability was practically invincible.

As the two Mutant patrolmen watched, Yang Bo stomped his foot violently and instantly hurtled toward them. The Mutant in front dodged with a quick sidestep, but the guy in the back was a step too slow and was sent flying backward by Yang Bo’s devastating Charge.

The front Mutant didn’t hesitate in the slightest, swinging his weapon down at Yang Bo.

Yang Bo swung his own Energy Weapon to meet the strike. The two weapons clashed in the underground cavern, producing streaks of dazzling light and a rapid series of explosive cracks—the sound of the opposing energies colliding.

Yang Bo did not use his Superpower, opting instead to fight his opponent head-on with just his Energy Weapon. When he had first arrived, he needed to rely on his Superpowers to defeat his opponents. Now, he had fully adapted to the Mutants’ combat rhythm.

The Mutants fought at a blistering pace. They coordinated their Energy Weapons with their hands and feet; every single move was a lethal strike. Holding his Energy Weapon in his right hand, Yang Bo continuously parried the opponent’s strikes, while his left hand remained tightly clenched, accumulating Electric Energy.

Some Mutants possessed Superpowers as well. The last time he encountered one, Yang Bo’s Energy Armor had actually taken a hit.

Lightning flashed and thunder roared between the two combatants. Anyone who didn’t know better would have thought a short circuit was causing wires to explode in a shower of sparks, emitting loud CRACKLING and POPPING sounds.

"Boss!" the guy who had been sent flying by Yang Bo finally staggered to his feet, his head still spinning.

The next second, Yang Bo pushed off the ground again, launching another Charge straight at the newly-risen Mutant.

The energies enveloping their bodies slammed together, producing a brilliant burst of light. However, the energy on Yang Bo’s body was significantly stronger. The impact directly annihilated the Energy Radiance on the opponent’s body. The poor bastard was launched backward once more, having a brutal encounter with the cavern wall before passing out completely.

A Super Soldier’s simplest and most brutal combat method was physical impact. It was a raw contest of whose energy was stronger. Not only would the weaker party’s energy be scattered by the blow, but they would also be knocked unconscious. In severe cases... well, someone would need to call a cleaner to sweep up the mess.

Seeing this, the other Mutant flickered and turned to flee. For Mutants, there was no concept of clinging to ideals or fighting to the bitter end. Preserving one’s own life was paramount at all times.

How could Yang Bo let this guy escape? With a cold snort, he activated his Gravity Skill for Anti-Gravity. As if he had flipped on a speed boost, he instantly landed right in front of the fleeing Mutant.

The opponent was fierce as well, wildly swinging his Energy Weapon as he charged at Yang Bo.

And so, a series of CRACKLING and POPPING sounds erupted within the Underworld once more.
