The impact struck him all at once!
He doubled forward upon the white throne as an internal hammer slammed against his ribs! His palms clamped onto the armrests, the white stone splintering under his grip into webs of pale dust.
Deep within his chest, at the ancient core of his Tree, new timber forced its way into the light!
A limb was tearing through the bark! He felt the living wood splitting, fibrous meat tearing as a massive bough carved itself into the void where empty dark had hung, driving through his marrow like a burning spear! An additional branch was forming!
Across his flesh, constellations flared and scattered into wild gyres, tearing apart to assemble fresh architecture! The gold seam stretching from his brow to his chest ignited into a brilliant white blaze, flooding the floor of the Descent of Chains with blinding illumination! Above his brow, horns of pure radiance stretched outward with the screech of pack-ice grinding under immense weight!
CRACK!
And the winter within him answered!
Frost surged over his left collarbone, racing up the curve of his neck in glittering scales, eager to claim his entire frame! It crested at his jaw and held its ground.
Noah exhaled, his breath tumbling into the cold air as thick snow!
He had learned through hard experience that brute resistance only fractured the bone, whereas dreaming around the upheaval allowed the transformation to complete its work!
His Dream folded over the expanding limb in dense, pliable layers, cradling the surge, smoothing the grain as it pushed toward the sky.
