Chapter 444: Getting in Her Good Light
Chapter 444: Getting in Her Good Light
"W-What?" A confused frown instantly appeared on Elder Ru Qi’s face when she heard Yi Chen’s words. She wasn’t the only one, as the entirety of the crowd was in a baffled state when they heard what Yi Chen had wished for.
’What’s wrong with him?’
’He could have asked for anything that he wanted, and someone as wealthy and powerful as Elder Ru Qi would have easily been able to achieve it!’
’Her guidance? What worth would her guidance be if your potential in Pill Refining is limited? Does he think he can become a Tier 3 Pill Master just like her in the future? Laughable!’
.
.
.
Several such thoughts arose among the crowd when they heard Yi Chen’s words.
Meanwhile, seeing the confused expression on Elder Ru Qi’s face, Yi Chen repeated his words with a subtle smile on his face, "I said that I want to be able to get Elder Ru Qi’s guidance on pill refining whenever I want... is it too much? Then should I ask for something else, Elder Ru Qi?"
Hearing Yi Chen’s words, Elder Ru Qi hesitated a little and said, "I-It’s not too much, and it’s something I can surely do for you... But are you sure that it’s all you want?"
If Yi Chen had been proven wrong, then she would have given him a severe punishment, so seeing that he was asking for such a light reward, Elder Ru Qi couldn’t help but feel a little guilty.
"Absolutely." Yi Chen asked with enthusiastic eyes the moment he heard those words and continued, "That’s exactly what I want!"
Seeing Yi Chen’s enthusiasm for just being able to receive her guidance, Elder Ru Qi couldn’t help but feel flattered as a warm smile formed on her face the very next instant.
"Alright then, if that’s what you desire, then I’ll grant it." The moment she said those words, she took out a rectangular jade token from inside her ring, which had her name elegantly carved on it, as she continued, "This here is my personal token. With this, you can visit me at the Seventh Peak for guidance anytime you want. Moreover..."
Elder Ru Qi paused for a moment while lifting the Spotless Spirit Yang Flower to her chest level and said, "... I’ll be presenting this Tier 2 herb to the Seventh Peak Master who would be able to best utilise it, and as I do it, I’ll make sure to put in a good word for Disciple Yi Chen, for without your ability to detect it we would have lost this rare Tier 2 Spirit Herb."
"This..." An excited smile instantly formed on Yi Chen’s face when he heard her words. "Elder Ru Qi, has my thanks..."
Yi Chen instantly bowed to her the next moment as his mind jumped up and down in delight.
’Seventh Peak Master? Isn’t he the sect’s only Tier 2 Grand Master? To gain such a man’s favour by just this small act...’ Yi Chen’s eyes started glimmering with possibilities right at that moment.
However, that wasn’t the end of what Elder Ru Qi had to offer.
"Here."
Elder Ru Qi stretched her hand towards Yi Chen the very next moment as a tennis ball-sized orb appeared right in front of Yi Chen. "Take this Sound Transmission Stone as well. There might be moments when I’m not in the Sect for you to personally seek my guidance. During that moment, you can resort to this Sound Transmission Stone to contact me.
As long as I’m within a hundred kilometres of your location, this orb will be able to establish contact between us."
"T-Thank you, Elder Ru Qi..." Yi Chen stretched his hands forward and accepted the Sound Transmission Stone with both hands. As he did so, his hands couldn’t help but subtly tremble from exhilaration.
’To have a Tier 3 Pill Master at my beck and call from now on, won’t my pill refining progress by leaps and bounds?! Heck! I won’t even need to spend any contribution points on these biweekly classes anymore, for I can just privately ask Elder Ru Qi about it!’
He thought with jubilation evident in his being.
"It’s me who should be grateful..." Elder Ru Qi said with a warm smile after hearing Yi Chen’s words, and continued, "Now that we’ve resolved this issue, let’s finish today’s first pill, shall we?"
As she said those words, she grabbed one of the several Hundred Spots Yang Flowers that Huo Yin had laid out on the table earlier and started explaining its properties for everyone to hear before finally processing it into the final concoction.
By now, Yi Chen had recovered his bearing and had started observing each of Elder Ru Qi’s actions as carefully as possible.
"With this, we’ve finished our 35th concoction, and I’ll start the final refinement process..." With that said, Elder Ru Qi turned towards the volunteer who had been tasked with heating the cauldron to an apporptiate temperature all this while.
"Adjust the intensity of the flame as per my instructions during the refinement process..." Elder Ru Qi instructed the very next moment.
"Yes, Elder Ru Qi!" The Pill Apprentice answered instantly, with focus evident in his eyes, as Elder Ru Qi finally started adding one concoction after another to the solution, stirring, waiting and mixing them all in the strict proportions as required to form a complete pill.
As she did so, she made sure to explain each step to the observing disciples so that most of the questions in their minds were addressed.
’So that’s how it’s done...so efficient.’ Yi Chen thought, observing the entire process, which couldn’t be compared to the sloppy job he had been doing until now.
A few moments later, Elder Ru Qi asked the Pill Apprentice to stop the flame, then scooped a portion of the precipitate out of the cauldron, rolled it into a pill and said, "This here is a completed Sun Radiating Pill."
The next moment she turned towards Yi Chen and threw the pill in his direction, "You can keep it as a sample if you like."
A warm smile was evident on her face as she said those words.
’This... isn’t this blatant bias?!’
’Elder Ru has already given him so much... Couldn’t she have at least given that pill to me?’
’This is unfair! Totally unfair!... but who should I even complain to...’
"Thank you, Elder Ru Qi!" Yi Chen bowed in thanks the very next moment after receiving that pill, as a grin formed on his face. ’All the efforts that I’ve put into gaining her favour...it wasn’t in vain.’
