Chapter 27 - 25: Discharged from the Hospital, Moving House
Chapter 27: Chapter 25: Discharged from the Hospital, Moving House
Su Miaoyi had recovered from her injuries, so she was discharged from the hospital.
Before leaving, she bought a few things and went to see Shen Yanzhou.
If it hadn’t been for him, she might have really died that day.
Shen Yanzhou was sitting on the sofa, wearing a pair of gold-rimmed glasses. The coffee table was covered in documents, and a laptop rested on his legs.
He closed the laptop and set it aside. "Have a seat."
"I just came to thank you. I won’t disturb you any longer." Su Miaoyi saw how much work he had and prepared to leave.
Shen Yanzhou said, "It’s fine. This work can wait. Sit down. There’s something I wanted to talk to you about anyway."
Su Miaoyi sat down on the sofa.
Shen Yanzhou took off his glasses and placed them to one side. "The doctor said you could be discharged?"
Su Miaoyi nodded. "What about you... Are you staying a few more days?"
"I can leave whenever I want. I’m mainly here to get some peace and quiet," Shen Yanzhou said.
’Get some peace and quiet.’
Su Miaoyi glanced at the documents on the coffee table.
’No wonder he’s so rich.’
’This is what he calls peace and quiet.’
"How’s An’an? Is it doing okay?" Su Miaoyi asked.
"So you still remember it." Shen Yanzhou’s smile was gentle.
It was a completely different feeling from when Su Miaoyi first met him.
Back then, he’d been a little angry, so his expression was cold, and he seemed like someone you shouldn’t mess with.
’Although, he doesn’t seem easy to mess with even when he’s being gentle.’
"How could I forget?" Su Miaoyi said. "That was a big deal."
Shen Yanzhou said, "It’s doing great. It’s been very happy lately. It seems to have become much more lively after meeting you."
"That’s good," Su Miaoyi said.
"And your cat? How has it been? Does it still attack you?" Shen Yanzhou asked.
"My aunt and uncle are looking after it. As for me... it’s wary of me now, but it hasn’t attacked," Su Miaoyi said.
The last time she went back, the cat had given her a wide berth. Wherever she was, it stayed far away.
Shen Yanzhou looked at her.
He had learned a bit about her family situation from Zhuang Yanzheng.
If the Ji Family hadn’t been reported back then, Ji Sheng would have at least become a district head by now.
"I’ll take you to see An’an when you have time," Shen Yanzhou said.
Su Miaoyi assumed he was just being polite and said with a smile, "Okay, I’d love that. I really like it too."
Shen Yanzhou smiled. "About what happened that day... Zhuang Yanzheng told me a few things."
Su Miaoyi looked at him.
She wasn’t surprised that Zhuang Yanzheng would have told him.
First of all, Shen Yanzhou was also a victim in this incident. Whether it was the place he lived or the properties he was developing, everything would be affected.
Secondly, he was Qin Leyan’s older brother, so he had a right to know.
"You were dragged into this, and in a way, this matter is related to me," Shen Yanzhou said. "So there’s no need to thank me."
That day, Shen Yanzhou... In Zhuang Yanzheng’s words, he talked a big game about being selfish and not meddling in other people’s business, but his body was honest, and he’d helped out instinctively.
Besides, even if he hadn’t intervened that day, they likely would have attacked him when they ran into him anyway.
After all, this whole affair was targeting him from the start.
Now that they had seen him, why would they let him go?
It was just that the woman was too strong.
If the police had arrived any later, it wouldn’t have been just an arm injury—he would have been lying in a pool of his own blood.
The moment the woman heard the sirens, she fled.
"Still, we should give credit where it’s due," Su Miaoyi said. "But I don’t know how I can possibly repay you."
Shen Yanzhou was silent for a moment before saying, "Then how about we exchange contact information?"
"Huh?" Su Miaoyi was confused.
Shen Yanzhou said, "To make it easier to see the cat in the future."
Su Miaoyi took out her phone.
’This excuse... feels a little sketchy.’
...
Ge Yu and Cheng Yong had already gone home.
After being discharged, Su Miaoyi returned to her apartment.
She entered the Jinrong District.
When she reached the entrance to her apartment building, she was startled to see two men standing there, one on either side of the door.
"What are you two doing here?"
With a piece of candy in his mouth, Zhuang Yanzheng looked at her and said, "Here to arrest you."
Surprised, Su Miaoyi whispered, "Is there another case?"
Lu Zhishen stood with his arms crossed, looking listless. "To help you move."
"Move? Who’s moving? Me?" Su Miaoyi asked, confused.
Zhuang Yanzheng said, "Let’s talk inside."
Su Miaoyi entered the building with the two men following behind her.
Once they were in the elevator, Su Miaoyi looked at the two of them.
Lu Zhishen was just a little shorter than Zhuang Yanzheng.
The two of them were practically polar opposites.
Zhuang Yanzheng was powerfully built. From his physique to the way he walked, he exuded a sharp energy that gave off a sense of immense strength.
Lu Zhishen, on the other hand... had an air of indifference from head to toe, especially with his soft, long hair.
Su Miaoyi even wondered if he was anemic or just perpetually sleepy.
It felt... like... he didn’t care about anything around him and couldn’t be bothered to take an interest.
Zhuang Yanzheng had a tan complexion.
Lu Zhishen, however, was very pale—so pale he seemed to glow in the sunlight.
They arrived at the nineteenth floor.
Su Miaoyi got out first and opened her apartment door.
Zhuang Yanzheng looked around.
Lu Zhishen waited at the entrance.
"Come in," Su Miaoyi said.
The two men entered.
"Sit wherever. What do you want to drink? I only have coke," Su Miaoyi said as she walked to the kitchen.
Zhuang Yanzheng stood in the living room, looking around.
The layout here was the same as the one upstairs.
"Coke," Lu Zhishen said.
Zhuang Yanzheng said, "I don’t want anything. Just pack your things so we can move you out."
"Why?" Su Miaoyi asked.
"It’s not safe here. The complex’s security is terrible," Zhuang Yanzheng said. "Anyone can just walk in, and anyone can get into the elevators. The security cameras in the fire escape are all broken."
’But it’s cheap here,’ Su Miaoyi thought.
"We’ve already found a new place for you," Zhuang Yanzheng said. "You just need to pack your stuff."
Su Miaoyi didn’t move.
Zhuang Yanzheng did have a point.
She was more or less a target now.
Especially since that man had said, "See you next time."
This place really wasn’t safe anymore.
But any place with good security was expensive.
She had other uses for her money.
"The rent is already paid. It’d be a waste not to live there," Zhuang Yanzheng said.
"My coke," Lu Zhishen said, raising his hand from the sofa.
He’d been waiting outside for a while and was about to die of thirst.
"Oh." Su Miaoyi remembered and went to get him a coke.
She gave one bottle to him and another to Zhuang Yanzheng.
Zhuang Yanzheng looked at her. "You didn’t secretly shake this, did you?"
Su Miaoyi looked at him, then snatched the coke, shook it violently a few times, and handed it back to Zhuang Yanzheng.
Zhuang Yanzheng: "..."
Su Miaoyi laughed. "By the way, you never accepted the money I transferred you."
"Yeah," Zhuang Yanzheng grunted. "That money, plus the rent for the new place, can be considered your reward for helping us with the case recently."
"Can I ask where the apartment is?" Su Miaoyi asked.
"It’s over in Xinyuan," Zhuang Yanzheng said.
"A year’s rent in Xinyuan is my reward?!" Su Miaoyi exclaimed.
’How much would that even cost?’
’That place is prime real estate.’
"Your help can’t be measured in money," Zhuang Yanzheng said with a serious expression.
"Just live there. That amount of money is nothing to him," Lu Zhishen said. "His dad will earn it back in the blink of an eye."
Su Miaoyi: "..."
’What’s wrong with having one more rich person in the world?!’
