Chapter 122 - 105: Brother and Sister
Chapter 122: Chapter 105: Brother and Sister
Carolyn’s car was parked at the corner of the commercial street in front of the restaurant.
Looking out the car window, she could just catch a glimpse of the busy flow of customers at the restaurant’s entrance. Many were walking out with takeout bags in hand, faces full of satisfaction.
"There are still so many customers at this hour. Business seems to be good."
It was already past one o’clock, yet it was still this busy. No wonder its monthly revenue was 450,000.
"Of course! Ning He’s cooking is incredible. The first time I met her at Black Panther Company, I knew she’d make it big one day! Cousin, I’ll treat you to her buffet tonight. Even though it’s vegetarian, the taste is just as good as any other place, if not better!" William said enthusiastically.
"Black Panther Company?" Carolyn raised an eyebrow slightly.
"Yeah, she was the head chef of the gourmet club there. Everyone loved her cooking. Even Mr. Rochester is a loyal fan of hers." William had yet to realize the problem.
"You left the city?" Carolyn said meaningfully.
William froze, his expression changing drastically.
’Damn it, I let it slip!’
"Just... just once or twice." In front of his brilliant older cousin, William never had the courage to lie, so he could only stammer out a confession.
"Where did you get the money? Your allowance shouldn’t be that much, right?" Carolyn asked.
"I earned it myself! Really, I’m not lying to you!"
William explained eagerly. Fearing Carolyn wouldn’t believe him, he took out his phone—his communicator—and opened the most popular video platform in the Alliance.
"All the money I spent, I earned from these videos."
Carolyn glanced at the screen. It was a blogger’s account with four hundred thousand followers. The young man in the profile picture wore a mask, but his iconic red hair was still easily recognizable.
"Not bad. It seems we’ve underestimated you."
Seeing that he wasn’t being scolded and had even earned a compliment from his cousin, William was both surprised and delighted.
"But be careful. The Caroline family doesn’t lack for money. Don’t put yourself in danger for such a small gain."
"I understand. Don’t worry, Cousin!"
Carolyn nodded and raised her wrist to check the time.
"I have something to do. I’ll come back to pick you up before dark. You can go ahead."
Carolyn watched William walk toward the restaurant. Her gaze lingered on the restaurant’s sign for a few seconds before she finally stepped on the gas and drove away.
When William arrived, Ning He was discussing the plan for a promotional video with Cindy and a newly arrived Karen.
"I have to be in it?"
Ning He pointed at herself, looking troubled.
"Black Panther Company can’t be involved, so you are the biggest draw for this event. With Heqi Chinese Restaurant’s current fame, I think you’re the best person for the job."
Cindy’s words were logical and well-reasoned, so Ning He could only agree.
Fortunately, she had often been on camera when filming videos before. Although this was for television, the difference probably wasn’t that big.
But this meant the matter would become public, and she would have to explain things to Connie Ahui.
"Ning He, I’m here!"
Ning He was happy to see William and immediately introduced him to Cindy and Karen.
"Hello, it’s a pleasure to meet you both!"
The moment he was outside the Caroline family’s castle, William was an energetic and cheerful young man.
Karen glanced at his bright red hair. He seemed a bit familiar, but she couldn’t remember where she might have seen him.
The group sat down to talk business.
"I asked you to come today because I wanted to know if you still have the video footage you shot outside the city. We’re planning to make a promotional video."
Ning He then briefly explained the gourmand challenge, and William grew more and more excited as he listened.
"Oh my god, how did you come up with such a fun idea? You have to count me in!"
Ning He laughed. "Alright. The first event will probably be for regular customers. I’ll let you know when it happens."
"It’s a deal." William held out his hand and high-fived Ning He, his expression already eager.
"Um... would it be possible to see your video footage first?" Cindy asked politely.
"No problem!"
William opened his phone and tapped it a few times, quickly pulling up a screen full of video icons. Clearly, his phone was no ordinary device to be able to store so much.
Karen and Cindy immediately leaned in to watch the video content closely, and William thoughtfully provided some commentary.
The scenes of the dense forest in the video were a novelty to Karen and Cindy, who had never left the city. They watched intently, not missing a single detail.
"...Your skiing skills are insane!"
The video was showing a clip William had recorded while playing in the snow a while back. He performed several tricks in mid-air, and Karen couldn’t help but exclaim in admiration.
