Chapter 114: Chapter 106: Mom Was Right, Wings Aren’t Important

"Mom, my drawing is missing!"

It was Xiao Juzi’s favorite drawing, the one he’d taped above his sleep pod. Every time he looked at it, he would sincerely make a wish, hoping he could quickly grow a big pair of wings to surprise his mom.

But now, the drawing was gone!

He had searched the entire room but couldn’t find it anywhere.

"My wings are gone!" Xiao Juzi said with a sad face. Because he was down, his pair of fluffy ears drooped, and his tail was listless too.

"You never had wings to begin with," Shu Yao said, not quite understanding why her Zaizai was so fixated on them.

"But!" Xiao Juzi tried to look over his shoulder, clenching his little fists and pumping his arms as if to encourage himself, using the motion to flex his back. "An uncle told me I could grow big wings just like his!"

Shu Yao said, "It’s okay if you don’t have them. Having an extra body part isn’t always a good thing."

"But it would be so cool!" Xiao Juzi said with longing.

Shu Yao replied, "You’re perfect just the way you are now."

Xiao Juzi said enthusiastically, "I think Mom would like me even more if I had wings!"

"But for me, it doesn’t matter if you have wings or not," Shu Yao coaxed him gently. "If you want me to like you even more, you just have to be a good, sensible, and obedient little boy."

"Hee hee~" Xiao Juzi giggled sweetly and hugged his mom’s leg.

Shu Yao glanced at the time, then looked down and told the little guy something.

"I’m going to take you to the park. Go ask Grandma if she wants to come with us."

’I get to go out again!’

Xiao Juzi happily ran off to find his grandma, but before he got far, he came PITTER-PATTERing back, his little face taut with a very serious expression.

"Mom, that hateful guy isn’t coming with us, is he?"

Shu Yao didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "We’re not taking him this time."

"Hooray!" Xiao Juzi cheered and ran off at top speed to find his grandma.

Shu Yao had browsed the Star Network earlier and found a nice recreational spot: Hanhai Park, located in the Fourth District.

Hanhai Park had an outdoor parent-child playground that many parents on the Star Network were enthusiastically recommending.

Shu Yao looked at the pictures and videos and thought it looked great, so she decided to take Xiao Juzi there to play.

The main reason was that the area they lived in was too secluded, and she hoped Xiao Juzi could make some friends his own age there.

「Hanhai Park, Parent-Child Playground」

It was quite lively here, with the sound of children everywhere.

As soon as they arrived, Xiao Juzi’s face lit up with excitement. The moment he saw the slide and the merry-go-round, he was itching to go play on them.

But he had promised his mom he would be a good boy, so he stayed obediently in her arms.

As they passed by a sandbox, the little guy couldn’t help but cry out:

"Ah! Mom, look! She has wings!"

Shu Yao looked over.

In the sandbox, there was a little girl about the same age as Xiao Juzi. She had fair skin and her hair was tied up in matching little ponytails. She wore a little pink dress, clutched a plastic shovel in her hand, and had a small blue pail beside her.

Just as Xiao Juzi had said, the little girl had a pair of small, pure white wings on her back, just like an angel.

But they were obviously fake. The wings were just a decoration on her dress.

Xiao Juzi stared at her, his eyes shining, while his tail wagged back and forth happily.

"So fluffy!" The little girl noticed Xiao Juzi too, pointing at him as if she’d discovered a new continent. "He has a tail!"

’His ears are different, too!’

Shu Yao raised an eyebrow and set Xiao Juzi down on the ground.

As a newcomer, Xiao Juzi immediately attracted the attention of many of the other children.

A few of the bolder ones even surrounded him, curiously sizing up his ears and tail.

A slightly older boy, sounding knowledgeable, said, "I know! He’s a Beastman!"

"He’s different from us!" The child who said this was purely curious and didn’t mean it in an unwelcoming way.

Xiao Juzi covered his ears and tucked his tail behind his back. When he lowered his little hands, his Beastman features had vanished.

Now, he looked just like the other children.

"Ah, it’s gone!" The little girl in the pink dress scooted up behind him. "Where did the tail go?"

Xiao Juzi tugged shyly at his suspenders. "I put it away."

The little girl tugged on the back of his suspenders, seemingly trying to pull his tail back out.

"Little Taotao!" The girl’s mother hurried over to stop her. "You can’t do that!"

The woman quickly apologized to Shu Yao.

"I’m so sorry, my daughter was being rude..."
