Chapter 483 - 477: Little Wukong’s New Divine Abilities
Chapter 483: Chapter 477: Little Wukong’s New Divine Abilities
Little Wukong’s advancement could be summed up in a single word: fast.
For an ordinary Tier Three Demon King to break through to Tier Four, it would take at least three to five years.
But Du Youqian had only been gone for a little over half a month. By the time he returned to the Four Principles Sect, he found Little Wukong’s advancement was already nearing its end.
This meant that if he had truly wanted to force a breakthrough back on the battlefield, he could have succeeded.
If he had broken through on the battlefield, then together with Du Youqian, they could have left Ye Rui Master and Chen Hongbo in that desert forever.
Of course, a forced breakthrough like that would have certainly left him with severe, lingering consequences.
This wasn’t to say Du Youqian’s choice at the time had been wrong.
Little Wukong had limitless potential. No one could say for sure—as a descendant of the Great Sage Bloodline, would his future peak be Tier Six? Or Tier Seven?
Or could he become a new Tier Eight Great Saint?
Trading his potential just to kill Ye Rui Master and Chen Hongbo on the spot was by no means a worthy trade.
After all, Du Youqian was confident he would find another opportunity to kill them later.
Another ten-odd days passed, and Little Wukong completed his breakthrough.
A monkey as tall as a majestic mountain appeared, crushing several of the Four Principles Sect’s buildings underfoot.
Thankfully, Little Wukong hadn’t lost his senses. He quickly realized his mistake, stuck out his tongue, and rapidly shrank in size.
He then nonchalantly glanced at the pile of ruins, putting on an innocent "it wasn’t me" expression.
If it were a little Shiba Inu, such an expression might be considered cute.
But the problem is, you’re a little monkey!
’There’s a reason they say "sly as a monkey." You’re naturally shrewd. Do you really think anyone’s buying your innocent act?’
Du Youqian didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He arranged for people to repair the collapsed buildings.
Thankfully, no important buildings had been damaged.
He then pulled the little monkey aside to question him.
From Little Wukong’s frantic squeaks and gestures, he got a rough idea of his current power.
"So, with this advancement, you’ve grasped three Divine Abilities at once. First, there’s the Transformation Divine Abilities that all Tier Four Great Demons learn. Then, there’s a Body Refining ability, ’Three Heads and Six Arms,’ and another called ’Thousand Transformations.’ That one lets you turn into other creatures, and when combined with your Transformation Divine Abilities, you can basically become anything you want? A mosquito, a tree... there’s nothing you can’t become? That’s incredible."
Little Wukong nodded enthusiastically.
Du Youqian’s expression grew complicated. ’He really is becoming more and more like that awe-inspiring monkey from my memories...’
"Ahem," Du Youqian cleared his throat. "Could you teach me those two new Divine Abilities? Just like you taught me Copper Skin Iron Bones."
Little Wukong was dumbfounded.
He then let out a flurry of squeaks, explaining that imparting a Divine Ability to Du Youqian through that direct ’Heart Seal’ method came at a great cost. It wasn’t an ability that could be used lightly.
Well, as much as Du Youqian coveted the ability, he wasn’t about to bully a monkey for it.
"What’s the current strength of your physical body?"
Little Wukong looked lost; he had no frame of reference.
But he was at least a dozen times stronger than before!
Du Youqian estimated that the little monkey’s physical strength was now comparable to a human Nascent Soul Peak Body Refining Cultivator, perhaps not even much weaker than a Divinity Transformation Early Stage Body Refining Cultivator.
With nothing else pressing, Du Youqian decided to stay at the Four Principles Sect for a while.
The timeframe was too short for a proper seclusion, so he simply attended to some sect affairs and studied his Divine Abilities in his free time.
His Spring and Autumn Brush still contained the Plague Divine Abilities he’d recorded from Master Nine. This was a devastating weapon, but it didn’t align with Du Youqian’s own cultivation path, so he had yet to successfully master it.
Mastering a Divine Ability was a long and arduous undertaking.
Without special aids—such as using a specific type of Gang Sha Qi to master a Divine Ability that was compatible with them, or recording it for repeated study as Du Youqian had done—mastering a single Divine Ability often took decades, or even a century. For particularly powerful ones, it wasn’t unusual to spend two or three hundred years.
And note, this was the time required if one did nothing but focus on mastering the Divine Ability, without practicing Cultivation or doing anything else.
But how could a Cultivator not practice their Cultivation?
If you didn’t practice Cultivation, you were just waiting for your lifespan to run out and turn to dust. Who could stand that?
Thus, it was no surprise that most Core Formation Cultivators only had one or two Divine Abilities to their name. Even Nascent Soul Masters typically only had a few that they had truly mastered.
The Divine Abilities Du Youqian had mastered so far were few in number, but each was incredibly practical, which was a rare feat in itself.
「Several months later.」
Du Youqian departed, taking five Foundation Establishment Disciples from the Four Principles Sect with him.
These five disciples had been carefully chosen. Their cultivation was at the Foundation Establishment Middle to Late Stage, and they were skilled in Magical Combat. However, their prospects for future advancement were limited; it was unlikely they would ever reach Core Formation.
In return, Du Youqian promised that if they performed their duties well, he would one day grant them a Core Formation Spiritual Object.
Then, Du Youqian’s Flying Boat picked up the Ghost Belly Cat Demon King and flew toward the Zhao Kingdom.
~~~~~~~~~
With the Ghost Belly Cat Demon King as their guide, finding the reincarnated bodies of his former companions was not a difficult task.
After examining the several beautiful, heavily pregnant women—as well as their maiden families, their husbands’ families, and their living environments—Du Youqian couldn’t say he was completely satisfied, but he saw no major red flags.
Du Youqian couldn’t possibly watch over all of them until their birth. Even if he wanted to, he could only guard one, as their homes were far apart.
Guarding just one would be too unfair, and he would have no answer if questioned about it in the future.
So Du Youqian only observed from the shadows. In the dead of night, he would secretly infuse the pregnant mothers’ bodies with a bit of Spiritual Qi, clearing their meridians to help them grow stronger and ensure a smoother delivery.
He also dispatched the five Foundation Establishment Disciples, stationing one at each location to prevent any mishaps.
「Two months later.」
Five babies were born, crying their first cries.
Du Youqian went to see them and could sense that all five possessed Spirit Roots, and none of them were of poor quality.
According to the Ghost Belly Cat Demon King, this was normal. When the soul of an accomplished cultivator reincarnates, it is naturally drawn to a fetus that possesses a Spirit Root.
Therefore, it wasn’t an especially lucky coincidence, but a natural occurrence.
Du Youqian waited until they had all survived the perilous first three months, when infants are most fragile. Only then did he take Little Wukong and depart.
~~~~~~~~~
Du Youqian’s next destination was Shaoze Mansion, to pick up Deng Maoyu.
Deng Maoyu had probably grown anxious from the long wait.
Shaoze Mansion was located to the west of the Immortal City Alliance and to the southwest of the Zhao Kingdom.
In terms of straight-line distance, traveling directly from the Zhao Kingdom would undoubtedly be the fastest route.
However, the lands between the Zhao Kingdom and Shaoze Mansion were home to several powerful Demon Race kingdoms and formidable Demon Sects.
There were plenty of Tier Four experts, and Tier Five experts were not uncommon. While Tier Six Great Powers weren’t exactly everywhere, their territories were vast, making it hard to avoid passing through one of their domains.
As an outsider, if Du Youqian were to swagger through their lands, he’d risk being captured, skinned, deboned, and having his soul extracted to be refined into a Demon Artifact.
He might also be captured by the Demon Race and end up as deep-fried Nascent Soul Master or steamed Nascent Soul Master.
There was another, much more circuitous route: first return to the Endless Desert Western Domain, cross the Endless Desert Sea, pass through the territories of the Long-tailed Golden Chicken and the other four clans, return to the Immortal City Alliance, and then journey west to reach Shaoze Mansion.
The distance was at least three to four times longer.
But it had one advantage: there were no excessively powerful factions along this route.
As soon as Du Youqian revealed his Nascent Soul aura, no fool would dare to provoke him.
Of course, Du Youqian could use the Nine Yin Nine Yang Ten Thousand Transformations Hidden Heaven Technique to disguise himself as a Tier Five or even a Tier Six expert. However, that would only fool cultivators at his level or lower. True Tier Five or Tier Six experts would absolutely be able to sense how hollow his feigned Tier Five aura was.
’Then again,’ he thought, ’there probably aren’t many Tier Five experts along this route anyway.’
And so, Du Youqian began his long journey.
He had reached an alliance agreement with Ye Rui Master, so he received a warm welcome when passing through Huailai City.
He felt not the slightest bit of embarrassment facing the cultivators he had previously extorted.
’What do the evil deeds of Ximen Chuixue have to do with me, Master Sui Xiao?’
When Du Youqian finally returned to Ruihan City, he was, of course, met with another enthusiastic welcome.
Ruihan City, from which he had been absent for two "long" years, had not undergone any earth-shattering changes.
Du Youqian caught up on the latest news, met with a few old friends, and after a short rest, set off to continue his journey west.
Destination: Shaoze Mansion.
After leaving Ruihan City, Du Youqian switched to a Tier Four Flying Boat. He also changed his appearance and aura to that of his previous identity, Baili Jianxin, also known as True Monarch Qingxu Tongxuan Guanmiao.
Du Youqian wasn’t afraid that meeting True Monarch Zhaoxiang Guangde with a Tier Four aura would expose his true strength.
True Monarch Zhaoxiang Guangde would fill in the gaps with his own assumptions.
The more nonchalantly Du Youqian acted, the more ridiculous the True Monarch’s assumptions would become.
For example, the man might just assume that this was merely one of his Outer Body Incarnations.
Du Youqian was actually quite looking forward to seeing what kind of wild conclusions True Monarch Zhaoxiang Guangde would jump to.
